  • always thought you hooked the black cable going to the dead car to the engine block, NOT the battery.... he could make it real easy and say these 2 steps: 1. good bettery positve to bad battery positive, 2. good battery negative to bad car engine block

  • Thank you for the great tips.

  • In case you don't happened to have jumper cables, can you get the good battery out of a car to use it in a car that had a dead battery to start it? (Pardon my bad English)

  • Two safety hazards here... You should connect both red jumper cables to first. If you connect both the red and the black and then you accidentally touch the ends of the cables together, it will spark. You should never connect the negative cable directly to a dead battery because it could explode. The negative cable should be connected to a ground (such as the engine block).

  • this man is pro

  • Just Get To Tha Fucking Point Fat Bitch

  • @danielpreval954 How disrespectful and rude, I hope that when you get old and fat this is how they treat you, with no respect!!! Idiot.

  • @danielpreval954 uhh uhh u wanna hook uhh the battery uhh right up to the uhh uh red battery uhhh black uhh yellow..?? uhh

  • Sir you are a pathetic Imbecile.

  • Keeping the engine running on the 1st car makes sure the batery does not go flat, if the 2nd car uses up all the power trying to start but fails to start the 1st car can still charge the batery, EG: if the car with the flat batery takes away all the power from the good batery but it still does not start then the car with the good batery will be in the same state EG: a flat batery, so it's important to keep the car with the good batery running has insurence that both cars don't have flat baterys.

  • @m1pete ..To complicate!! Wish you write shorter...Don't understand what you say, need to learn how to make things simple!!! haha 1-1

(Never let you down!!) hahaha..You knew that! In this world, not only English is a language and do not bull shit to someone speak Ensglish is a second language..DOU MA (Fuck your mother) instead fuck you...Have to say because You need to learn! THAT LANGUAGE hahaha go google and find out

  • the negative side doesnt go to the negative side of the battery it goes to the metal frame

  • @V8block8 100% right

Should do right! before show to young kids ...Other all the kids did the WRONG WAY!!....I disagree with what he saids

  • @CharlieDoan he doesnt even sound confident of what hes saying, he looks nervous and with doubts, i bet this guy doesnt know anything about cars, hes battery was dead and her wife taped him to kill time time

  • I like how says HIS car, HIS battery.....

shows male domination, the way its suppose to be LMAO xD

  • @Salvy102 ownership HIS ..HIS HIS Not Her Her Her - Asian ways to now...no body say but must understand WOMAN STILL A SLAVE OF MAN. No matter you like or not...So best way is marry to Asian chick, And sometime get a girl friends are White girls...And lastly, doing hard work around the house is getting A BLACK MAGIC WOMAN. kkk Agree?. And you sit on your ass and watch football, How about that? (ASIAN ONLY, NOT USA..)

  • @CharlieDoan Before you write things on here please learn how to write so we can understand you.

  • @m1pete Sorry, I was not born in the country which speaking English like you guys, lucky I knew little English to commucate to you or ELSE: - Du ma tao ddeo biet noi tieng Anh nhu tui bay, tao deo sanh o quoc gia noi tieng Anh. DOU MA! (That's right)

  • This person is correct.

Starting the good car is not necessary. The alternator current capacity is miniscule compared to the the requirements of a starter motor. Look at the thin alternator wires. Look at the thick starter motor cables. The battery cables are thick because of the starter motor.

Also leaving the good car on could damage the voltage regulation electronics.

  • Nice video mate, but one thing that I noticed is that you connected the negitive clamp directly to the cars dead battery, this is not advisable as the last clamp will make a spark as you connect it to the battery, this can ignite the gases from the battery, the best method to connect the last nagitve clamp is to connect it to a good part of the cars metal work or engine, well away from the battery.

  • @m1pete ASE....You know what that mean?? Not everybody can work without some school or educate! I hate to argue with people doing not RIGHT WAYS and try to show....! you know

  • Is it me or does this guy sound like George Bush? lol

  • @iMrBigRed ..Don't say bad about US Presidents...fuck you! and I am not an American but I have to say that! sorry must say that!

  • @CharlieDoan I'm not American either but I do have enough knowledge to understand that my comment was not meant to "say bad" about US Presidents. A comparison to someone else is not a negative thing my friend...so in other words....fuck off and learn what certain things mean before you jump to conclusions. Thank you

  • bomm

  • Would this method work on Jhonny 5 after he took that beating?

  • great advice.. i like the way he spoke slowly for people.. a question.. how do you know if alternator is going?? my car will drive fine but if i stop, turn off engine and put on radio or hazard lights .. and try to start car after a couple of minutes it wont turn?? is this the alternator?? NOW if i stop and turn nothing on and re start the engine its not a problem.. thank you..

  • sounds like a dying battery

  • thanks for that.

  • Can you charge a battery with the battery cables still attached? Because you can obviously jump start it that way.

  • different way > but job done

  • Alzheimer's setting in at 1:51

  • @adamsplace

    Thats funny as hell man

  • the red is always on the posititve, not usually

  • Comment removed

  • if you connect it to your neg terminal on your battery you are still grounding the connection. because negative stands for common which is also ground. SO YOU ARE CONNECTING TO GROUND. the manual says to connect to engine block to ground because it is a larger surface area. but he is still grounding.

  • Not really! you should connect the black to a ground on the car you are jumping.

  • never do that will blow up the dead battery always ground sum where else never to the battery

  • why isn't this guy grounding?

  • no ground?

  • Since when was there an exception for not crossing the positive and negative??? :O

You always conect positive to positive and negative to negative (negative to a grounding point)

There are exceptions in that some older cars have a positive ground, but DONT EVER cross the wires!

  • 1)Positive terminal of dead battery

    2) to positive of good battery

    3) Negative terminal of dead battery

    4) to a suitable GROUND on the dead engine NOT the BATTERY!!!

Also, try to start the dead car a few times first, without the boosting car running, as you may blow out your computer or the other car's. New cars are not like your grampa's old Ford, they are very sensitive to abrupt electrical spikes or shorts. Most people avoid boosting others batteries nowadays because that risk of damage

  • debauchery:

I have a Powerex by Xanrex Jump Starter. What do I connect the black cord to? What part of the engine?

  • Depending on the model and whether you are simply charging or jump starting your vehicle with the battery still under the hood, should be the same.....Red is positive first connected to battery then black (negative) is clipped to chassis/frame or engine block away from any moving parts, fuel system, or hot manifold etc. Body sheet metal is not a advisable or suitable ground. Remember to remove the cables in the reverse order (negative then positive) when done charging/starting

  • debauch:

    1)It's a Xanrex XPower Powerpack 200 Plus (Xantrex 852-0200).It's a emergency light,jump starter,compressor, & electricity provider.

2)My problem is Im not sure if I connecting the black cable 2 the car chasis or to body sheet metal. How do I know?

    Thx.

  • the part that looks like a dick

  • Wow, another wrong, dangerous video of how NOT to do something.

  • "in the case this battery is a little bit deader than..."

    Great.

  • The reason you never connect + post and - post of both batteries directly is the risk of sparking while 'adjusting' or 'fitting on' and/or if you cannot clear corrosion due to no tools or really bad. The circuit is completed as the - side is grounded on the metal of the motor anyway... one clean clip on! All auto manuals give this set up as well. And he forgot NEVER have cars touch for that reason! Also, stand back 'just in case'. Sulfuric acid gets my respect in this matter....

  • the red...USUALLY goes on the positive...??? WTF ...what car has black as psoitive.

  • ha i would like to see you jumpstart my 12v diesel with your van off! your vans battery would run out of power in an instant

  • lmao haha two things:

    1) 1:26

    2) "It elimates the possibility of having an explosion." Wow that's reassuring lol.

  • ahahahaha

  • you're at the mall! funny as hell

  • noob

  • Can this guy post a video on how a pencil draws? Great detail is needed and it should preferably be about 3 minutes long for anyone who doesnt understand it.

  • And a few days after filming this, he died from a heart attack from eating too much KFC.

  • wat u on about? hes still alive..hes the kfc colonel!

  • I wish this guy would speak slower, he is so difficult to understand....

  • watch eYQ27rWxhuQ

  • NEVER ATTACH BOTH CABLES TO BOTH TERMINALS!!!!!!

Attach first to the battery, then the 2nd to the chassis a good distance away from the battery (there is sometimes a special point designed for just this)

Ever had a battery full of sulfuric acid on explode in your face?

Also it is good practice to loosen the breather plugs on the battery itself.

When charging a lead-acid battery hydrogen gas is given off, by putting a bunch of sparks near this gas you are asking for trouble.

  • Ummm...shouldn't the black go to the engine block or some other "ground" instead of the negative of the battery?

  • morons eh.... Experts eh

  • how about not using cable? just put your ignition to accessories (just before start ignition), step and hold the clutch in full, put the car in 1st or 2nd gear or reverse, have a friend or two to push the car in the direction u put the gear in (backwards if u put it in reverse), to about walking or jogging speed, then simultaneously step on the gas while suddenly releasing the clutch. this will surely start ur car. this works ONLY on manual transmission.good when theres no other car in sight

  • Clutch pops DO work. Not necessarily the friendlist method of starting a vehicle. You're right though, if no other cars are around and you've got a few buddies this will do the trick.

  • thanx for your response but you clearly are an idiot leaving that piece at the end?? i would have actually thought you were smart if had not of left that side note but then again you are Canadian so i guess i can understand your retardedness!!

  • Some new cars a push start puts their computers out of sync.

  • the car thats getting jumped?... aint noone gonna jump my car and get away with it!

  • This man might have downs syndrome.

  • haha

  • Okay this is actually WRONG. NEVER directly connect two batteries as it increases the risk of explosion (yes explosion) the connections to the healthy car were made correctly but on the car with the weak battery the negative connection should be made to a ground (a piece of exposed metal somewhere inside the engine bay/to the body.) If you really don't believe me then please check your individual manuals for instructions. They will always have steps listed for performing a jump start.

  • Yes, I agree to you, and the best way is to make the least time spent to jump-start the dead car. Don't take a risk to charge the dead car's battery before you start the dead car, and always do it with your good car's engine running. When the dead car is started, take out the jump-wires immediately.

  • chosenYen: U sure? It doesnt sound right to have the 2nd car running, then connect the cables to it batteries. I think the cables should be connected after/with both cars OFF.

  • I am referting to a car battery that is good but can be lower thank 12.0V , which makes the start of engine difficult. Technicaly, the 2nd car battery can be around 12.8V a few minutes after engine stopped, if the car and battery is normal.

You can be right, for a safety concern technically, yet still need to make sure the first car's battery is still good.

  • either way it works. you are still connecting it to a live battery. when you turn the key off the batter is still running a charge through the car electronics.

  • cuddle: O ok. Ive always heard that you connect the wires then turn on the engine. Thanks.

  • you obviously dont know what ur talking about. even if you connect the negative wire from the good car to an exposed metal or whatever part of the engine of the bad car, it will still be connected to the negative battery terminal of the dead car's battery. because, the negative terminal is always grounded to the body or engine. so its still the same.

  • If you're old enough to own a car, just go read the manual and save me some time actually writing a thought out response. If your car says it is just the same to connect to a grounded body panel as it is the negative terminal then it must be a Pinto. Only car I can think of that is that eager to blow up.

  • this guy seems as if some one had a gun on him making him do that demonstration. Did you see how he kept stalling? That was because everytime he forgot what to say the gunmen would wave his gun and say, "HURRY UP IDIOT THIS AINT ROCKET SCIENCE!! WE DONT HAVE ALL DAY. DEMONSTRATE!!"

  • I was trying to figure out why he was sweating so much...hilarious!

  • I agree. It s funny.

  • his brain stops for few seconds at times... he aint really good with these instructions eh?

  • hook up the black before the red because the black grounds the car first dumbass

  • lol ..explosion..?? Its a fucking battery not a bomb!! Idiot americans!!

  • lol? this ``fucking`` batery can explode... read a book ;)

  • We can tell you love Americans, You disrespect Americans to make you feel better lols

  • no its called stating the facts of life cos americans are idiots LOL!! its a well known fact of life xD : )

  • Well if your the definition of intelligent then your facts of life are seriously screwed LOL!! =D

  • when did i say i was intelligent!! all i said was that americans are idiots cos it is just a fact of life!! LOL i like your comeback there !! making stuff up and using it !! as i said americans are idiots and you have just proved that point in that idiotic comment you made!! xD

  • I'm starting to realize im commenting to a child who thinks he's socially clever lols

  • I see you are again making up facts with no quotation or evidence to back up your claims for instance when have i ever mentioned me being socially cleaver??? tell me !! Again your knowledge is shocking which backs up my claim that americans are idiots!! and how many friends you got and by that i mean real friends not virtual ones on your computer!! how many GF have you had well that is if you have ever met any girls xD or are you one of these computer addicts who watches porn all day??

  • The older you get child, the easier it is to read between the lines. You don't have to make any self claims for me to make them for you lols. As far as friends, girlfriends, and porn goes.. In real life, I'm that guy all the girls want to be with and all the guys want to be friends with. I should be a porn star. But again, I'm not sure what that has to do with anything you child lols. Do you think your charming? Is that it haha

  • seems like ur a little too self loving

  • What!!! Guys want to be your boy friend!! you said that boys want to be friends with and if you think about it they are friends who are boys in other words they are your boy friends!! xD so you openly admit that you are gay then!! you said it not me : ) and yes i agree you should be a gay porn star!! Idiot americans

  • and i gots friends! not boy friends!! and how many idiot american fat bitch girls have kissed you!! i bet non and thats even though they are fat american bitches xD cos i know they are not that desperate : )

  • LMAO you really are just a child, I'm done with you kid. Enjoy your stay on youtube =]

  • i will talk to you dumb idiotic american l8r !! LOL

  • ead acid batteres give off a gas. A spark can be created by making diret connections. This is very rare but CAN occur. I figured your car is already dead you probably don't wanna blow youself up. Finally I'm not American so that really isn't of any consequence at this point.

Sidenote -Anyone who thinks a battery can't explode, please go try it (repeatedly) and save me some time in the future...

  • i swear...... this is the longest given instructions for such a simple thing-

  • you never connect the black to the negative of the car. its better to ground it to the car body.

  • this is correct....

  • Thank you for contributing to my cognition...

  • @tommidrab stupid comment

  • always start the car you are jumping from .... if you dont you may cause a spike to the car your starting .... and the negative cable from the boosting car should me connected to a good earthing point on the car that needs to be jumped like a bolt on the block . GET SSOOOMMMEEE.

  • this is not a jumpstart

  • yea brad, this guy is like basically right but yea... don't connect direct across..

and on cars which are newer, they have a battery alternator and other high amperage connections all joining remotely from the battery to prevent explosions and ease boosting... so find the red box that's usually close to the front of the car...

  • you're supposed to place the negative terminal on a grounding strap or grounding chassis point on the car with the dead battery

  • thanks for the video!!!

really informative and i learnt something new
