Musical genre isn't the only basis for comparison. Since music is mostly a thing of perception, sense and emotions you could compare any bands you like since the feeling in the music could be similar.

You're free to interpret music with any means possible. If Evanescence is the only gothic sounding band they know, then I see no wrong in such comparison.

Aside from Collide we have: Switchblade Symphony, Diva Destruction, The Birthday Massacre, Mankind is Obsolete, I:Scintilla, Starlit, LUXT, Epica, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, I could go on (is it not obvious I love female fronted bands?).

But I agree with the others stating that aside from being female fronted this is a completely different style from Evanescence.

I would say Collide have more in common with trip hop than the goth/nu-metal/pop sound of Evanescence. Maybe not so much on this song, but the entire Chasing The Ghost album is full of trip hop influence.

Maybe in that style they hit the top 40 first, but there has been plenty of female fronted bands that have hit top 40 in both rock and metal well before Evanescence

KaRIN is an awesome vocalist , a great artist & she's one of the best looking women in music today! Collide is independent for a lot of reasons that the non musicians here would not understand! Sure being independent means you have to promote yourself a bit more then those other artists that get everything simply handed to them,but you also get full freedom to create how ever you wish to! Making it a much better choice for some musicians that don't want record companies telling them what to do!
