Don't let the little ones comp down the whole thing, but you should be good. The drinking age is more to do with responsibility then health, My family has wine at most family events, its a tradition that all kids 11+ get their own glass for the toast. ^.^ use common sense and you should be ok.

Alcohol is used in a LOT of cooking, and it's not for adults only. The reason is because during the cooking process the alcohol cooks off. You usually use wines/brandys etc because they have a good sweet flavor, but the alcohol tastes like crap so you cook it out.

Made this last night, for a Christmas Cake, turned out sweet as a nut! (literally when it gets covered in Marzipan & Royal Icing)
