  • WOW!!! What a rack!!! I would love to ride him!!! The guy isn't moving at all!

  • It takes a lot of skill to ride one of these horses. I tried it once and it was a miserable fail for me. Poor horse. I never rode on one again. You definitely have to know what you are doing and experience is a must. This man rode this horse extremely well. The horse is just beautiftul.. I will stick to my "UNPADDED" walking horses or the all around favorite quarter horse.

  • I honestly don't think I can find one video of these amazing animals with out critizism!

  • people who have never ridden saddleseat or a saddlebred for that matter should not even comment! it is hard work im riding a Revival son and i love him! its hard to get him collected while riding, this is not an equitation class, trainers dont care about looking good as long as the horse performs his best! i think this is a good stud and trainer, whoever thinks otherwise, dont watch saddlebred videos and criticize!!

  • what do you people have against quarter horses? every breed serves a purpose in its own right. I love TWHs and quarters just because a horse doesn't carry its head high does NOT mean it is ugly or boring.

  • what a great performance stallion! just beautiful. if you don't love this, you don't know what a great horse is!

  • The stallion is amazing, beautiful color, beautiful gaits. The rider is not this bad, but he should learn how to keep the hands in the right position.

  • the rider is horrible.

  • @moladrie Acctually quite the contrary, hes riding exactly correct however weird it might look. He does it professionally

  • @lakota123max - clearly you've never known a saddlebred. I have two, one I brought home as an 8 mo old. He's the most level-headed, sensible horse I've ever trained or ridden - & I've had everything from QH to TBs to Arabians. My ASB is my best show horse & my best trail horse - snorts in the show ring & goes anywhere on the trail without turning an hair. Comfy - I can ride him all day. Most trustworthy bareback horse ever. Loves small kids, and the safest toddler leadline horse in history

  • sigh..horrible gaits..why do ppl even breed these horses for riding..they are sooo uncomfortable and u need to be an excellent rider....they are pretty animals..but bred to be so high strung its crazy

  • @lakota123max Not everyone wants to dumb a horse down to their level; Saddlebreds exist because there are riders out there who love to ride and rise to the level of a good horse.

  • @tunagirll Amen. Nicely worded :)

  • @lakota123max

I have to disagree. I'm only 14, and I don't plan on using my Saddlebred for high shows like this, but my horse is not crazy or highstrung at all. and he's not even 2 yet. My 15 year old TB/TWH is more high strung than him.

And I am not saying I am an excellent rider, but I do know my stuff, and I've ridden other Saddlebreds. They don't need a Grand Prix rider, they need a rider who knows what they're doing. And they most definatly are NOT uncomfortable. Bareback all day.

  • Ok that horse was nice but that rider needs to learn how to ride

  • A corrrect horse is a correct horse, regardless of breed, gait, or what-have-you. This guy has a large muscle is on the underside of the neck. Properly developed horses that are using their backs and topline correctly have large muscles on the top of their necks, and they're soft in the jaw. Unfortunately, with his conformation, it will be tough for him to carry himself correctly.

  • I would rather look at this horse, and this mans riding, than at a TWH with heavy shoes an chains around it's lover leg.

  • cute

  • I'm trying to watch the horse, but i can't because of the man's riding. I could list 10 things easily that this rider is doing wrong. What ticks me off the most is how obvious his commands and transitions are. The horse needs to set his head a lil bit more. I enjoy watching him. He's not like a plain, boring, paenut-pushing, quarter horse.

  • @Apollo12395 its not an equitation class. duh. at if you are training, you dont sacrafice the horse's movements and skills by worrying about yourself.

  • just a lil bit of fine tuning and both horse and rider will be fine. that;s what you get when you train a horse to perform many gaits. the horse is only trying to find his rider!! but as you can see when they get together on what gait to perform he settles down and work. their just fine in my opinion

  • This horse is very unimpressive to me. He has a terrible headset at the rack, with his nose sticking out and his head all over the place. I guess that's just my opinion but his headset is still messed up.

  • This kind of reminds me of llama racing

  • this man is a terrible rider...

  • wow!! they are just like an icelandic horse, just in an bigger edition:P

  • all horses can do anything if you teach them and treat them right. Quarter Horses are good horses too but saddlebreds are just more fancier.

  • a saddle breed has to trot be fore they put it to racking they are man made horse,s ritch mans horse

  • @kennywayne1959 I'd actually like to contradict that... My Saddlebred was racking in the field as a foal - and his parents were just field horse! We had to train him how to trot. The rack and slow gait are actually fairly natural gaits to horses. What people get confused is the fact that some are born with it and others are trained into it.

  • Saddlebreds are a very hard breed to ride especially in the show ring! You have to keep them focused on you at all times and make yourself look good and the horse! It's hard work! I love saddlebreds!!!

  • I know they are bred to be that way, but a horses neck being so straight up in the air just looks wrong to me. They always look so tense and forced, I guess I just don't like the style.

  • yeah they are bred to do that. they are actually very happy to do that.

but I understand where your coming from, to me its weird for a QH to hold their heads so low. looks boring and tired

  • Yeah QH pleasure looks depressing, I think thats why I am not a big fan of the QH shows either. I have seen some ASB's that looked more natural and comfortable in their show gait, but I guess, as with most breed shows, the most extreme, instead of the most natural, comes away with the ribbon.

  • good horse good rider .had lot of horse,s hard to get one like that nice

  • Wow very pretty boy I love Saddlebreds. He has a nice Rack and canter. He's amazing to watch to bad I don't own a saddlebred maybe someday haha.

  • Quarter horses aren't lame KJDean1968. They are beautiful too and can do a lot of things. I have two Quarter horses and they both keep their heads up unless they are asleep.

  • It is hard to come by trainers that can ACTUALLY ride. He is talented.

  • THESE ARE NATURAL GATES OF THIS BREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a saddlebred, though he's not gated or breed standard I know that is a natural gate, I've seen a 5 gated saddlebred & it loved what it was doing because IT COULD DO IT NATURALY! They can do this from birth so if you think this is cruelty look up the breed & do your damn research!

  • Wow what a BIG trot!

  • I NO! it looks awesome ive seen better jst cuz i ride a big show barn but he is a rly nice horse

  • Poor Horse ?

You obviously don't know what your looking at .

  • poor horse?!?!?!?!?! y poor horse?

  • Gorgeous, Gorgeous animal!!! This is NOT a lame moving, head on the ground Quarter Horse. His head isn't that far from where it *should* be...that is called "up headedness". The rider is doing a fantastic job. He's showing the horse at gait, it isn't an equitation class, and anyhow, if you think it's so easy, go ride one yourself. BTW...tolting is NOT a Saddlebred gait..that horse was doing what is called a *rack*, and it IS supposed to be ridden with a loose body position.

  • I agree. I LOVE the way a saddlebred moves. Too many people are used to seeing western pleasure...not that WP is bad, it's just not our style, right? You can just look at this horses confirmation vs a QH. Their shoulder is far more slanted and their neck comes out of the shoulder at a higher angle. If a QH had it's neck way up like that it would be different, they have a lower neck set. I just love this horse! Gorgeous! But my QH doesnt move like a lame-o either. I LOVE a hot horse!

  • 5 gaited...does he have pace also?

  • i used to ride a nine year old saddle bred stallion, he was the calmest horse i've ever seen and he was s carfull with little kids i fell of him once and he stopped to make sure i was ok... he had a neck injury so he would always throw you onto his right lead which i was not expecting, but we couldn't do anything perfessionalt with him becue of the injury... nice horse tho... never used a bridle or saddle with him... thats probably why i fell off ha ha

  • Just till u know he's a proffessional trainer doing his job and i would honestly like to see u do better so and if u think ur being cool and critizing something you don't do, then shut up

  • WTF? Its not even tolt. And why should you not ride Light?

  • Great!

  • I ment horse xD

  • :/ gorgeuos her, ugly rider..

  • maybe The horse is talented but the rider is horrible!!! *grrr*

  • Oh, he's not THAT bad...we have all seen WAY worse, I'm sure. We could pick peoples riding skills apart all day long and it wouldn't get us anywhere. I personally don't pick at people, because I would be so sad if people picked at me. I try to do good, and strive to be a better rider every day, I'm sure the rider in this video and you do the same, right?

  • its harder for five gaited horses to have a realy good head set when their gaiting. its something that needs a lot of work. especially since this horse is a stalion, it will take longer to get his head perfect. hes still good lookin tho

  • the man looks like he has to work verrrry hard to get thatbhorse's head in.

  • this horse has such a horrible head set. his nose is very high up in the air.

  • I ride 5 gaited horses that are way nicer than this one! it's nose is way to far out i the air!!!

  • the guy riding him is hunched and is holding his hands WAY too high!!lol

  • lol that looks sooooo weird...

    sorry but it does lol

not sayin anything is wrong or bad i am just say it looks funky

  • thats terrible..sorry but thats very scary! ok the horse has good movings in his legs but it looks not really good and the rider is even worse!

  • Schrecklich... aber Hauptsache ne Kandarre drinne...=/!

  • Hey... I'm from Ireland so I have never seen a breed that runs along like that.... it's WIERD. The horse looks like a spider running!!!

  • ...A spider? And it's called rack actually.

  • I'd just call it a slow gait, a rack is just a faster slow gait.

And in response to the person who asked what kind of special equipment is necessary to have a horse move like that: none. All you need is a horse that can be gaited, and is gaited (made to learn how to slow gait/rack).

I've done it without a saddle, and with two reins on an American Saddlebred.

  • How many different riding aids does the rider have to use for each of the gaits in this video ? It is amazing to me.

  • wie kann man einem pferd nur so was antun sein ganzes leben zerstörn weil der mensch denkt es sieht toll aus un was denkt das pferd?

    dass is allen egal

  • I've been using surgical rubber on mine and his action is going to be hard to beat next year.

  • i'm trying to get my saddlebred to travel in the back end like he does, so i put weighted(1/2 extentions on her. do you think that will work

  • just so everyone's clear on it... there should be a straight line from the bit through the reins, through the wrist and to the elbow regardless of what discipline you're riding (unless it's western...), so if you're riding a horse with a high head-set, your hands are going to be high. as long as you have that straight line, your hands are in the correct position

  • Question, how do you hold the reins riding a Icelandic Horse? since they hold their heads high too but not as high as a Saddlebred. When I rode one Icelanic gaited horse I used raised reins. But on another one I rode with hands down like in a Hunter, even though the heard was high. I was told by the instructor that each horse was different in reining.

  • it just depends on how each individual horse hold its head. as i said down there in the comment somewhere, you just want that straight line from the bit, through the reins, through the wrist and to the elbow.

  • Everyone has there own opinion and fav types of riding.

  • this horse is so cool. Saddleseat and gaiting is fun!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hhaha PeopleRding Sddlebred Always Look Like They Camnt ride cozx they have there stirrups so long lol.. but u must be a gr8 rider too own one of those beauties

  • ok the horse is good in trot but he is really trotty in "tölt"(i don't know how you call it) and again the rider sits on a horse reaaaly bad

  • OOPS I MEANT FOLKS! HA HA HA

  • Love the responses...Floks really ought to READ UP!

  • The horse is amazing but the rider....WOW, he barely moves except to post to the trot and he is ONE with this horse.....I know very little about these magnificent horses and the riding of them but watching this video was like watching poetry in motion!! What a treat!!

  • That's why I have a Saddlebred. They are so smooth and so comfortable. I'll never have anything but a gaited horse. They are also very proud and majestic animals, but have big hearts and so willing to please. I wouldn't give my boy up for anything! He's 22 this year.

  • me too

I own a couple, and a few Standardbred road horses,

but my five gaited mare is a dream

    ahhhh

i could sleep on her rack

  • LOVE HIM.... GORGEOUS

    Thanks for the wonderful video

  • To be Honest I ride Western xD which is complete opposite but, ive been a horse woman for about 20 years and I see nothing wrong with the way these people r riding their horses.

  • thank youu!

  • Umm. . fastandsmoothe. . a gaited saddlebred doesn't just rack. . you post to the TROT. plus, a trot and a rack are totally different, and if you cannot tell the difference. . why are you commenting?

  • well to me why do you post on a GAITED horse? never seen one that you have to before.

Gait to me is smoothe where you sit flat in the saddle like in a chair, nice horse though

  • omg dumbass, gaited or not, you still post to the trot.

  • notice the horses legs? see how all 4 are moving really fast and separately? That means its NOT a trot. Learn your gaits. I hate to see you ride in a show ring where they ask you to do a sitting trot.

  • HMM well i dont care what it TECHNICALLY looks like, everyone trains differently. and all horses look different. "learn your gaits".hahah

  • there is no TECHNICALLY to it. The horse has 5 gaits instead of the 4 non gaited ones have. Its park pleasure gait means it walks extremely fast which means all 4 feet move instead of 2 at a time. There is no "everyone trains differently" this is a gaited horse this is how you are supposed to sit when they are doing a rack. You dont post at the walk do you? Same with racking you don't post because there is not enough bounce and momentum. So yes, learn your gaits.

  • umm.. well TECHNICALLY there is 3 gaited and 5 gaited, not 4.

  • Are you brain damaged? There are 4 gaits to a normal horse walk, trot, canter, and gallop. Gaited horses have a 5th as some type of 'racking' gait. I don't understand why you'd argue about this anyway..saddle seat is such a hideous way to ride. The rider is all over the place, the hands jab the horse in the mouth and are carried ridiculously high, and the gait is exaggerated in an unnatural way with training weights and shoes. It's awful.

  • umm, no the question is- are you brain damaged? uhh duh, there is 3-gaited in horse riding world, not technical w/e. walk, trot, canter- and 5 gaited it waslk trot canter, slow-gait, rack. Anyways, but your comment of "all" saddle seat riders being all over the place & all that, makes you look like an idiot that just cant ride. Look at my vids and tell me if im doing ANYTIHNG of the things youve described.

  • umm if you were smart you would know that they dont do GALLOP in the saddle seat show ring. I didnt say it wasnt a gait, i said it wasnt a gait we did in saddle seat. dumbass. And believe me i look NOTHING LIKE HIM. he doesnt have good position at all. And hmm really? actually i think in my vids my leags are VERY still, and my hands are NOT too high. *Everyone! Go look at my vids and see how much we look "alike"! And DUH i didnt say they werent trained to do it but its not like were having

  • I know!! ur hands are supposed 2 b high! KrystinaAndAustin can go suck it! sahe doesnt know crap about riding!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You're an idiot and you're like 12. You should really not talk crap about people unless you can back it up. You don't even have any videos. I'm not fat and I don't ride saddle seat because it's boring and unappealing to me.

  • saddle seat = boring? hmm i dont know what you rode but i doubt it was saddle seat hun!

  • agreed. saddle seat is NOT broing. what is is western pleasure...

  • -fricking QUARTER HORSES do it. So do your self a favor and "Shut up" youve obviously learned nothing in your "long life of riding." hahaha. AND NO ITS NOT ACHEIVED BY THAT HUN IM AROUND IT ALL THE TIME AND YOUR NOT, DONT TELL ME HOW THEY DO IT UNLESS YOUR AROUND IT ALMSOT EVERY DAY. now go ride your little ugly little mule and keep bein jealous sweetie. and saddle seat is very grsceful if done CORRECTLY. Not how this guy is doing it.

  • Haha. You can't even spell and people are supposed to respect you as a knowledgeable rider?? I've been in the business much longer than you have so don't 'hun' me. You ride in the ugliest discipline known to the equestrian community and poorly, at that. Your leg is NEVER under you- you're always in the toilet position and you fall out of your post. You don't even own your own horse- so who is actually the jealous one here?? I'm done replying to your comments- they're not worth my time. =)

  • Umm its called i couldnt care less what some dumbass like you thinks of me?? And nope, its farrrr from the ugliest disipline, and FIRST OFF-- I HAVE KNEE PROBLEMS SO I CANT PUT MY LEGS BACK, SECONDLY- YOUR LEGS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FARTHER FORWARD THEN OTHER DISIPLINES. I think my trainer would know- shes won multiple world titles in all 4 seats. And so what if i dont own a horse? I think riding world champion saddlebreds nsh's, & morgans is good enough for me!! Yeah way to show your "maturity".

  • So making excuses is how you try to substantiate your poor riding? Then how do you explain the 4 times of incorrect diagonals in your video? Is that because of bad knees too? Basically you don't know what you're talking about nor do you have any concept of maturity since your mindless attacks are the epitome of immature.

  • Wow, once again... your SOOO mature. I looked at your videos and guess what- you SUCK. and your stables is shitty. and yup actually i was doing diagnol excersises! she was having me switch off at posting on the inside leg & the outside. nice try at the insult though...

  • Bullsh*t. The video you commented on wasn't even my barn. Obviously you can't read either. I know I don't suck and I don't give the slightest crap what some 14 year old thinks because she's jealous and bitter that she can't ride or have her own horse. Saddle seat takes nothing- you ride in circles in a ring all the time. Do something that requires some kind of skill and maybe I'd respect you as a rider, since I sure don't respect you as a person after seeing how you conduct yourself.

  • Uh i dont care where it was... it was shitty. anyway, i am NOT jealous for the lastt fucking time! sure i would have my own horse if it up was to me but guess what? My parents dont think i need to have my own, not b.c of money but b.c of the fact they think riding world champion horses should be fine for me. and i actually agree. Watch my newer vids, the one youre watching obvisouly itsnt very recent, and for you to say that saddle seat takes NOTHING- oncee again, immaturity.

  • -Have you even ridden saddle seat? If you have those words wouldnt have even come out of your mouth. Guess what? ive dont hunterjumper... bored me... western... bored me... so uhh yeah. youre wrong.

  • uh, ur just jelous cause u are probly 2 fat or short to ride saddle seat! saddle seat is beautiful!!!!!!!I <3 Saddle seat! it is beautiful! and im not saying that just because i show my arab saddle seat!

  • Hm, actually some still use the weight shoes, but the trainers use them carefully that it doesn't damage the legs. Some teach horses to step naturally. I've been training longer than you've been riding, and I've learned that riding doesn't mean you know everything about horses. You should look at these horses and try saddleseat before you say it's ugly. For a person who's been riding for so long, I see you dont really appreciate horses. To me all style's of riding is pretty unique and beautiful.

  • And if you knew anything about saddlebreds or arabians you would know that they are born stepping high, with high heads & tails. Its like like they have a frikin quarter horse do that Wow you must know "alot" about horses. lmao.

  • Don't even try to argue with me. You're 14 and have no idea what you're talking about. Suddenly gallop is just 'not' a gait anymore? I don't think so. You look just like him- swinging leg and hands obnoxiously high. They're born GAITED- they are NOT born stepping THAT high into the air. That is achieved by weighted shoes/training rings. I've been riding longer than you've been alive so just do yourself a favor and shut up. And saddle seat is UGLY no matter how you cut it up.

  • woww. can we say talent?

    he has amazing hock action!

yall are sure to be a threat in the show ring!

hopefully i will see you at some shows!

    good luck!

    and Norman Blackburn.. RACK ON!

  • whoever posts these comments ; do you really know what you are talking about? if you dont ride saddleseat, and if you haven't experienced riding a " great" saddlebred, then stop giving un-educated advise to some of these well-seasoned trainers !

  • woww pretty just keep ur legs tight good job =]

  • Awesome Horse! I have a question can you teach all saddlebreds to rack and slow gait?

  • amazing horse he is gorgues i love five gaited horses good luck at showing
