it out of a bell jet ranger helicopter, whats the diffrence? gas turbine and jet engine are the same thing, design wise anyway... air is sucked in, pressurised with a fuel mixture expeled out the exhause which gives you thrust..in this case it drives a shaft

To be 100% correct, it's a "gas turbine" with a shaft output, not a "jet engine" or "jet turbine". :)

Well, my point is that it's not the 'gas turbine' that makes it 'jet propelled'.
A jet ski, a jet boat, are both piston-engined vehicles but are jet propelled.
A turboprop aircraft has a gas turbine (or turboshaft if you prefer), but they're still propellor driven.
It ain't the "turbine" that makes it a "jet".
