to record with triggers i will need a drum module and then plugged in to and audio interface or i just need to conect the triggers to the audio interface and the software will identify them???
Thanks for the informative vid man! Question, with a typical drum module is it possible to capture the exact sound of my kick drum in some kind of sample, then use that as the outgoing sound? That's what we did in the studio, he had me hit the kick really hard, then pasted that in to all of my kick beats. Just wondering if a regular module can do that too. Thanks!!
@Olliverzie Yes when a drummer is using triggers...what you actually hear is an electronic set. Esentially the same thing, it's an electronic kit buried within an acoustic kit. I played my friends triggered drum kit and if you mess up and don't hit the kick drum hard enough, it will still trigger giving it the perfect sound even if you barely touched it. So in a way it's a bit of a cheat. Drummers can mess up left and right but as long as the kit triggers, an audience would never know.
@korea1john I'm not exactly sure you understand what the purpose of a trigger is for. The trigger is used to simulate an electronic kit (kind of). Makes recording easier I suppose. It has nothing to do with changing the sound of your kit. Essentially you want the trigger to give the sound of what an ideal kit would sound like. So if you think it sounds best with a quarter there then yes.
@andy15m374l - Heyy dude. When using drum triggers u dont need a drum module at all. As For the Roland Drum Triggers for acoustic drums. They use the standard Guitar Lead, U can plug straight into a firewire mixer which is connected into cubase in your pc. If you are using trigger software such as drumagog 5 pro u can trigger without a drum module.
You can plug into a Mixer no problem and it does work.
@ScubzDickson I know about drumagog. That's how serious recording dudes handle triggering. People keep asking if you can just plug them straight into a mixer though and Ii try to keep the answer simple.
@andy15m374l Its all cool dude. Was only commenting to say tht it is possible without a proper drum module. - Its no worries tho dude. Its good that your trying to keep thing simple for people, As some drummers dont have a clue when beginning to use triggers. Ive subbed anyways dude :D
can someone give me a 101 on triggers? what are for... does they auto kick?... they're like guitar effect pedals?, they're both?... I read a comment somewhere that kinda said that they were like a pedal effect... and why are some drummers like that's faking stuff or so...
There's no point in even using a drum if you're going to trigger it. Just save your money and use a trash can lid or anything else for that matter. Especially if you're not even triggering the drum itself like in this video. All he needs is the pedals and something for the mallet to hit.
@MrMasterNathan The real kick sound is still happening and can be recorded/mixed in too. Plus a real kick feels good to play, is more durable than other things and looks better.
Out of interest, if using triggers is there actually any need to still have your hefty bass drums? If you are triggering an electronic sound why not just use an electronic drum pad? Or are you also taking the sound of your acoustic drum as well? Seems like an awful lot of carrying around to just get a computerised sound!
@LydiaTheLion Within the context of extreme metal (where this video is pointed towards), triggers are sometimes necessary in order to get the bass drums audible in an often crowded audio mix. Most trigger users mix the triggered sound with the acoustic sound. Depending on the band, it certainly is possible to forego the acoustic bass drums, but then it would change the feel and overall sound of the kit. Most trigger users simply want to enhance the natural sound to compensate for mixing issues.
@LydiaTheLion The real kick sound is still happening and can be recorded/mixed in too. Plus a real kick feels good to play, is more durable than other things and looks better.
@LydiaTheLion I think Annotations of an Autopsy use drum pads, and put bassdrums in front so it looks better. Also, Arch Enemy uses a mix between mics and triggers to get the perfect sound
whats up man..ive been a drummer my whole life..became a paraplic at 18..now 33..getting another kit at end of month...i plan on in coorporating an acoustic kit with sum bass triggers within the kit set up thru a brain to do the bass for me etc,,any idea so i can obtain sum other hi hat sounds like the open/closes sound upon hittin with a stick etc..thanks....im on fb too
@Joshthebandboy That's pretty much how it is. It's just a method of getting what you do to the audience better. It doesn't add or subtract anything. It makes mistakes really obvious too.
@Joshthebandboy False. An electric guitar with effects is only modifying the sound coming from the instrument itself. Drum triggers replace the original sound from the instrument with another one. I'm not saying triggering is cheating, I just wanted to point out that electric guitars and drum triggers are not comparable.
@Joshthebandboy If there was a guitar effect that would correct my guitar when I play completely off metronome -- that would be cheating. But then again, it's all about music and it doesn't matter how you make it. What matters if it's good or not.
@Timmachilla he is not cheating, the drummer have the skills and plays, the trigger is just to have different sounds, maybe that drums sound like shit haha
when i started using triggers, my drum kit became alot more difficult to play, i realized that i wasnt as good as i thought i was, i had to man up, get more accurate, and it became very clear to me that you have to be spot-on in order to play a triggered kit or else everybody will hear every mistake or slightly out of time hit you perform, there is simply no margin for error. i challenge anybody who talks shit about triggers to put this to the test. but talking shit on youtube is alot easier.

@lifefocus You can have dynamics with them or make them stay full on. I don't know how dynamic acoustic triggers get exactly, but I know electronic pads go all the way to where it's indistinguishable when you're using good software.
Triggers are for drummers who dont have a consistent foot speed....or because you dont know how to adjust your springs on your kick pedal....dont fail...succeed
Check out my channel and look for my band's song called "Forgiven" in the videos, with no triggers...our engineer has gotten a great sound out of the bassdrum and about 3/4s through the song, you can hear a solid 16th note bassdrum pattern which is clear as day.
@J0nttOO describe to me for what triggers are you used for? cause obviously your dumb enough to think there for cheating, i get fucking sick of people like you cause you dont use common sence triggers dont help with speed or power lets say i take a electronic bass drum and use that is that considered cheating? nope its the same fucking thing as triggers. and if your a metal drummer like me you dont want to hear duff duff duff because it dosent cut through so shut the fuck up and learn your facts
@Millenwagon its not cheating at all , it just makes the bass drum audible and sound the same as each other hit its not making you play faster or slower , just makes your sound audible...
Triggers don't change the playing AT ALL. They just convert the bass drum hits into bass drum samples. If you're a shitty drummer it'll come out shitty. If you're a good drummer, it will come out good. End of discussion.
Half of you idiots saying they are truly "performance enhancing" are just trolls. But this is to the other half.
1: where's YOUR fucking video if you're all experts? Thank the kid for offering his input on a widely debated subject.
2: Triggers are not a way to cheat to play faster/cleaner. If you fuck up with standard mics, you'll fuck up with triggers(probably more apparently).
3: "Get a good sound guy and learn to mic your drums live" type answers are bullshit. Up and coming bands don't have that kind of time or money. Fuck off.
another reason for a drummer to use a trigger: because they have bad technique, and playing fast double bass exposes that bad technique. if your technique is bad, and you go to play fast, your beater doesnt make the same motion (bad technique) thus you get a bad sound. alot of ppl use triggers because its easier to play with a trigger, rather than learning to play fast with a heel-down-technique.
@rwoods2k Drummers who have bad technique end up having their hits to be poorly timed and generally sloppy. Triggers oftentimes expose bad technique at live shows with brutally truthful clarity. Drummers that play heel up and hit the drums hard get the most even perfect sound(Dave Haley, George Kollias and a lot of other drummers who are great live are good examples). There is no cheating. There isn't something that you buy and start sounding good. Triggers make "tappers" sound even worse.
@andy15m374l bad technique can also mean that the beater doesnt come off the head quickly enough, you can be on time, and not sloppy and still produce a choked sound. cant stress enough how important it is to have the beater come back fully EVERYTIME. there is where your power is, not any momentum. if you have a drum instructor, ask him. you can also check out videos from Steve Smith regarding freddie grubers 'constant release' theory
@chiefofsparta Dont get me wrong, I'm not condemning any use of triggers. Triggers can be useful when used properly, check out Akiro Jimbo. check out watch?v=AbVonLvGc8I&feature=related, and watch?v=OVlpueHo4ok&feature=related. drastically different from using triggers to improve the sound of an acoustic drum(with the digital sound of an acoustic drum). ignorance is bliss
@rwoods2k hey bro I have a question about triggers, I´m a guitar player but I starter playin drums about 9 months ago, and for the time I´ve been practicign I´ve gains good techniqque and speed as well, my question is, because I have never played with triggers, does it have a unique volume? let´s say if the pedals are plugged to a trigger and you kick, does it still sound hard no matter how soft you kick the bass drum?
@rwoods2k you fucking idiot please if you dont fucking know what your talking about or you say this because you cant play double bass fast do us all the drummers a favor and stop making this stupid comments and why dont you tell your opinion to george kollias tell me what hw thinks.you fucking stupid bastard
@rwoods2k i would have thought because the triggers make the kick sound so defined that it would emphasise shit technique by making it sound sloppy.... as opposed to a kick that's not triggered, the bad technique might be drowned out by the rest of the band... my thoughts though, perhaps not.
@rwoods2k are u stupid? Drummers use triggers in big venues so the crowd can hear them. Joey Jordinson uses triggers and so does Jason Costa AND Shannon Lucas. all 3 of those guys are awesome.
@Bradrox101 not only do triggers let you be heard but who the fuck wants to hear duff duff duff at a metal show? the clicks from a speedmetal bass drum sample sound so much better than a queef
i thought triggers were something like u hit the bass drum and it sends two signals doubling your bpm or whatever the fuck it was almost like what a drum machine sounds like
Hey Andy - what beater are you using with your Axis pedal? Doesn't look like the standard 'sonic hammer'. I'm looking for a replacement for the 'sonic hammer', any advice would be appreciated. thx.
@yourmumsgran They're Tama CB90 beaters. They are great with this pedal. They run about 20 dollars each. They are the same beaters that come on Iron cobra pedals.
i would like to kick this ass hole in the head, this is what you have today he cant even talk go back to the south and let real drummers talk not kids, this is not for you get a job?
@maciverandy I know that's the way you do things so you think it's normal, but I'm going to have to tell you about what other people do to get money. It's called a job. If you have any more questions ask.
@andy15m374l do you mean it's called a blow job? because when you have his purple-headed love monster down your throat ,at least you can think about all that cool drum equipment he's gonna buy you right?
Right on, I just got my pair of Axis longboard double pedals, after using Pear Eliminators for too long, and a click pad for my head to sort of mimic the sound until I can get some trigger/sound equipment. Thanks for the review dude, I will get ddrum when I buy.
Hi! Where have you bought your bass drum trigger? Seems to be more accurate than my ddrum trigger. Can you tell me where I can find it or what't the name of it?
@ormium It's an Axis EKit. It's designed to attach to the Axis pedals only though. With regular triggers you just have to get the settings on the module right and they work pretty good. Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity, gain and the cross talk?
Yes' Ive played around with all parameters - but I've replaced the Alesis Module with an Roland TD-4 and that was really worth it :) I've noticed the main bottleneck is MIDI, so transmitting snare rolls over midi doesn't work - only pain is my base drum using mesh heads and ddrum trigger - maybe I'll have to replace this...
@MrDrummerdood Yeah it puts out an audio signal and you plug it into whatever you please. Modules have a left and right output so you can go to a PA and a headphone amp at the same time.
@BLdrummer740 I have the sound I want coming from my drums. Getting that to the audience in venues on a noisy stage isn't going to happen though. This is a way to get it perfect every time.
Proper miking and and sound guy that doesn't suck is the best way to replace your triggers. That's why I became my own sound guy. I purchased a small mixer to plug all of the mic's into and then lined out to the main mixer. using only a quarter inch cable.
@CloseTheDoorNathan Yeah. I was just using a TD3 before, which was only 100 dollars more new at the time. The Roland kicks just weren't that great. When I see bands live that are using a roland the kick is always too bassy. The DM5 is just right for a live show and doesn't need any eq.
I didn't know what triggers were (or maybe I still don't)instead of miking and capturing too much sound, triggers capture the strikes only, and then the strikes on what ever is triggered can be manipulated, kinda like a streamlined, efficient way to capture, control & reproduce/manipulate the sound ? I remember when the Axis first came out..lightest most responsive pedal I ever touched,
@MINION2287 I think the problem is the title. I didn't have room to type "What triggers are, why people use them etc". I decided to include a lot o info. It's not good if you have a sort attention span though.
Hey Andy, Great vid bro! I've been playing drums since the age of 2...I'm 41 now, and I have encountered TONS of mixed reactions to using triggers. Some "purists" will snub you for using them while arena caliber drummers couldn't live without them! I have NEVER been 100% satisfied with my trigger sounds. In terms of sound, I've always tried to emulate Tommy Lee's kit(s). The problem is I can never find sample packs that are as good. Any thoughts?
@DrTalk1 Steven Slate has modeled Tommy Lee's sound along with other famous drum sounds. Steven Slate samples are what I use for all of my productions. They are all already processed so you don't have to be a recording guy to work with them.
I really dont understand why triggers are soo important too so many drummers! Well if you want too trigger a very special bass drum sound or drum sound i understand clearly understand it! but if your bass drum dont gets trough the mix, then put som more high/mid/high frekvens on your mix!?
@morpheusdrummer Bringing good mics to a venue and getting them placed right and getting the sound guy at the place to eq it correctly and avoiding stage noise all form together to be a difficult chore that can be skipped with this technology. The end result is better anyway if you are like me and like the fake clicky sound and the perfect thump underneath it.
@nastymonsters2 yeah!! Thats what im talking about my friend! You dont need trigges if you tune and EQ your bassdrum/drum rigth! And if you need a specific sound as when you hit the drum, you can do it in the studio.. Triggers is a waste of money..
The only way that i see a trigger is handy is when you are playin a live gig, and your micing up, but then again you could just EQ it at the mixer pult!!
Im looking for a drum module that wouldn't be too expensive. Preferably around 200, but that may be unrealistic. If anybody has any ideas it'd help a lot.
@betterthanbarker Since the DM5 sounds good for kicks and terrible for everything else you can buy them off of people who were using it for everything and got an upgrade. George Kollias uses the Alesis DMpro which is also an older module with good kicks.
@andy15m374l Cool, thanks. I live in a small town though, so there's not a large market for music gear of any strife. Would you or anybody who knows the answer perhaps know the name of a second hand online music store?
im still kinda confused about triggers. do you actually hear the sound when youre just playing or do you have to have speakers connected or headphones
i have a problem i bought a midi cable that fits to my drum module a yamha module but the midi cable doesnt fit into speakers its to small what do i do
@Superchocolatedonut A midi cable does not pass audio signal from the module. MIDI is just the note data to tell another device what note is hit. The audio signal comes from the L and R outs which are 1/4 inch cables. That signal has to be amplified to run into speakers. There's a lot to cover, but I hope that helped.
triggerssssssssss and micsssssss and ssdone ans a senssssserssss.. hahahaha ssssssss you lispin fuck triggerrsssssssssssssssssamd modulesssss drumsssssss!!!!!!! hahahaha fagot
is there anyway to get a cool realistic sound from a trigger? what? not? oh right! its just for death metal!
yeah sorry, but the drummer of my "nu-metal/rapcore" band think he needs triggers, i was a drummer in a grindcore band, so i said dude, dont take them, you'll get an electronic sound and it sucks big time for rock kinda stuff...
@METALMICHEW Yes there is. Drum modules sound fake but you can trigger software using a computer. You can use whatever sound you like including the Superior Drummer, Drumkit from Hell and Steven Slate drums. You can record your own kick and use that so that no matter what the conditions of a live show may be, you have your perfect kick sound consistently hitting the ears of your audience.
@andy15m374l okay, but there is one problem imo, that is that if you play slower parts or parts you don't need a "high gain" bassdrum you'll get a "volume'd down" sound right?
@METALMICHEW Yes you can either set it to stay high volume no matter what or have it respond appropriately to dynamics. There are great videos on youtube of people playing electronic kits triggering superior drummer that really show how well it works with dynamics.
@sparklebloke You can trigger any sound you want, so there is no specific sound. I do have a video called "kick drum trigger rig explanation" where I show the "speed metal" sample on the Alesis DM5.
This has been flagged as spam show

triggers kill your sound. you can automatically tell when triggers are being used because it just sounds like a damned computer.
burtonboxrider 10 months ago
what r u listening to in the background?
Bizkit9d8 10 months ago
another reason for a drummer to use a trigger: because they have bad technique, and playing fast double bass exposes that bad technique. if your technique is bad, and you go to play fast, your beater doesnt make the same motion (bad technique) thus you get a bad sound. alot of ppl use triggers because its easier to play with a trigger, rather than learning to play fast with a heel-down-technique.
rwoods2k 10 months ago
@rwoods2k Drummers who have bad technique end up having their hits to be poorly timed and generally sloppy. Triggers oftentimes expose bad technique at live shows with brutally truthful clarity. Drummers that play heel up and hit the drums hard get the most even perfect sound(Dave Haley, George Kollias and a lot of other drummers who are great live are good examples). There is no cheating. There isn't something that you buy and start sounding good. Triggers make "tappers" sound even worse.
andy15m374l 10 months ago 28
@andy15m374l bad technique can also mean that the beater doesnt come off the head quickly enough, you can be on time, and not sloppy and still produce a choked sound. cant stress enough how important it is to have the beater come back fully EVERYTIME. there is where your power is, not any momentum. if you have a drum instructor, ask him. you can also check out videos from Steve Smith regarding freddie grubers 'constant release' theory
rwoods2k 10 months ago
@rwoods2k You obviously don't know shit.
chiefofsparta 9 months ago
@chiefofsparta Dont get me wrong, I'm not condemning any use of triggers. Triggers can be useful when used properly, check out Akiro Jimbo. check out watch?v=AbVonLvGc8I&feature=related, and watch?v=OVlpueHo4ok&feature=related. drastically different from using triggers to improve the sound of an acoustic drum(with the digital sound of an acoustic drum). ignorance is bliss
rwoods2k 9 months ago
@rwoods2k hey bro I have a question about triggers, I´m a guitar player but I starter playin drums about 9 months ago, and for the time I´ve been practicign I´ve gains good techniqque and speed as well, my question is, because I have never played with triggers, does it have a unique volume? let´s say if the pedals are plugged to a trigger and you kick, does it still sound hard no matter how soft you kick the bass drum?
Necroparanoia 9 months ago
@rwoods2k you fucking idiot please if you dont fucking know what your talking about or you say this because you cant play double bass fast do us all the drummers a favor and stop making this stupid comments and why dont you tell your opinion to george kollias tell me what hw thinks.you fucking stupid bastard
molleteeee 9 months ago
@rwoods2k i would have thought because the triggers make the kick sound so defined that it would emphasise shit technique by making it sound sloppy.... as opposed to a kick that's not triggered, the bad technique might be drowned out by the rest of the band... my thoughts though, perhaps not.
1991ant1991 8 months ago
@rwoods2k are u stupid? Drummers use triggers in big venues so the crowd can hear them. Joey Jordinson uses triggers and so does Jason Costa AND Shannon Lucas. all 3 of those guys are awesome.
Bradrox101 8 months ago
@Bradrox101 not only do triggers let you be heard but who the fuck wants to hear duff duff duff at a metal show? the clicks from a speedmetal bass drum sample sound so much better than a queef

is that true?
luisyboy 11 months ago
@luisyboy no. it just programs a sound to the hit. it isn't cheating, it's just easier.

@yourmumsgran They're Tama CB90 beaters. They are great with this pedal. They run about 20 dollars each. They are the same beaters that come on Iron cobra pedals.

Right on, I just got my pair of Axis longboard double pedals, after using Pear Eliminators for too long, and a click pad for my head to sort of mimic the sound until I can get some trigger/sound equipment. Thanks for the review dude, I will get ddrum when I buy.
astralremnant 1 year ago
Hi! Where have you bought your bass drum trigger? Seems to be more accurate than my ddrum trigger. Can you tell me where I can find it or what't the name of it?
Thanks a lot!
ormium 1 year ago
@ormium It's an Axis EKit. It's designed to attach to the Axis pedals only though. With regular triggers you just have to get the settings on the module right and they work pretty good. Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity, gain and the cross talk?
andy15m374l 1 year ago
@andy15m374l
Yes' Ive played around with all parameters - but I've replaced the Alesis Module with an Roland TD-4 and that was really worth it :) I've noticed the main bottleneck is MIDI, so transmitting snare rolls over midi doesn't work - only pain is my base drum using mesh heads and ddrum trigger - maybe I'll have to replace this...
ormium 1 year ago
does the drum module connet to like an amp or a PA or somthin?
MrDrummerdood 1 year ago
@MrDrummerdood Yeah it puts out an audio signal and you plug it into whatever you please. Modules have a left and right output so you can go to a PA and a headphone amp at the same time.

yacambielacontra 1 year ago
Triggers are for people that suck at tuning drums and can't manage to get the sound that they want out of it without using a computer.
BLdrummer740 1 year ago
@BLdrummer740 I have the sound I want coming from my drums. Getting that to the audience in venues on a noisy stage isn't going to happen though. This is a way to get it perfect every time.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
@andy15m374l
Proper miking and and sound guy that doesn't suck is the best way to replace your triggers. That's why I became my own sound guy. I purchased a small mixer to plug all of the mic's into and then lined out to the main mixer. using only a quarter inch cable.
BLdrummer740 1 year ago
Funny that you've switched from a Roland to Alesis, considering Rolands are MUCH more expensive.
CloseTheDoorNathan 1 year ago
@CloseTheDoorNathan Yeah. I was just using a TD3 before, which was only 100 dollars more new at the time. The Roland kicks just weren't that great. When I see bands live that are using a roland the kick is always too bassy. The DM5 is just right for a live show and doesn't need any eq.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
what triggers are you using that connect to the axis pedals, because i have some axis longboards and i've been looking into buying some good triggers
IamDirtyPancake 1 year ago
I didn't know what triggers were (or maybe I still don't)instead of miking and capturing too much sound, triggers capture the strikes only, and then the strikes on what ever is triggered can be manipulated, kinda like a streamlined, efficient way to capture, control & reproduce/manipulate the sound ? I remember when the Axis first came out..lightest most responsive pedal I ever touched,
tjfreak 1 year ago
@tjfreak The triggers are a shock sensor basically and the module gets the electric signal and plays a recorded sound.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
Hey Andy, how much did that drum module cost?
mellewillems 1 year ago
@mellewillems I traded a cymbal for it, but i think they are going for about 200 usd.

MINION2287 1 year ago
@MINION2287 I think the problem is the title. I didn't have room to type "What triggers are, why people use them etc". I decided to include a lot o info. It's not good if you have a sort attention span though.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
@kben68 Yes. The modules in electronic kits are the same thing that you use for triggers.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
Hey Andy, Great vid bro! I've been playing drums since the age of 2...I'm 41 now, and I have encountered TONS of mixed reactions to using triggers. Some "purists" will snub you for using them while arena caliber drummers couldn't live without them! I have NEVER been 100% satisfied with my trigger sounds. In terms of sound, I've always tried to emulate Tommy Lee's kit(s). The problem is I can never find sample packs that are as good. Any thoughts?
DrTalk1 1 year ago
@DrTalk1 Steven Slate has modeled Tommy Lee's sound along with other famous drum sounds. Steven Slate samples are what I use for all of my productions. They are all already processed so you don't have to be a recording guy to work with them.

Is it just me or did you hit your head in the Cymbal? ^^ (1:24)
huck787 1 year ago
I really dont understand why triggers are soo important too so many drummers! Well if you want too trigger a very special bass drum sound or drum sound i understand clearly understand it! but if your bass drum dont gets trough the mix, then put som more high/mid/high frekvens on your mix!?
morpheusdrummer 1 year ago 3
@morpheusdrummer Bringing good mics to a venue and getting them placed right and getting the sound guy at the place to eq it correctly and avoiding stage noise all form together to be a difficult chore that can be skipped with this technology. The end result is better anyway if you are like me and like the fake clicky sound and the perfect thump underneath it.
andy15m374l 1 year ago 4
@morpheusdrummer triggers are the spawn of the devil ..tune and mike your kit properly, trigger just sound clicky..
nastymonsters2 1 year ago
@nastymonsters2 yeah!! Thats what im talking about my friend! You dont need trigges if you tune and EQ your bassdrum/drum rigth! And if you need a specific sound as when you hit the drum, you can do it in the studio.. Triggers is a waste of money..
The only way that i see a trigger is handy is when you are playin a live gig, and your micing up, but then again you could just EQ it at the mixer pult!!

Im looking for a drum module that wouldn't be too expensive. Preferably around 200, but that may be unrealistic. If anybody has any ideas it'd help a lot.
betterthanbarker 1 year ago
@betterthanbarker Since the DM5 sounds good for kicks and terrible for everything else you can buy them off of people who were using it for everything and got an upgrade. George Kollias uses the Alesis DMpro which is also an older module with good kicks.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
@andy15m374l Cool, thanks. I live in a small town though, so there's not a large market for music gear of any strife. Would you or anybody who knows the answer perhaps know the name of a second hand online music store?

shav12 1 year ago
i have a problem i bought a midi cable that fits to my drum module a yamha module but the midi cable doesnt fit into speakers its to small what do i do
Superchocolatedonut 1 year ago
@Superchocolatedonut A midi cable does not pass audio signal from the module. MIDI is just the note data to tell another device what note is hit. The audio signal comes from the L and R outs which are 1/4 inch cables. That signal has to be amplified to run into speakers. There's a lot to cover, but I hope that helped.

is there anyway to get a cool realistic sound from a trigger? what? not? oh right! its just for death metal!
yeah sorry, but the drummer of my "nu-metal/rapcore" band think he needs triggers, i was a drummer in a grindcore band, so i said dude, dont take them, you'll get an electronic sound and it sucks big time for rock kinda stuff...
METALMICHEW 1 year ago
@METALMICHEW Yes there is. Drum modules sound fake but you can trigger software using a computer. You can use whatever sound you like including the Superior Drummer, Drumkit from Hell and Steven Slate drums. You can record your own kick and use that so that no matter what the conditions of a live show may be, you have your perfect kick sound consistently hitting the ears of your audience.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
@andy15m374l okay, but there is one problem imo, that is that if you play slower parts or parts you don't need a "high gain" bassdrum you'll get a "volume'd down" sound right?
METALMICHEW 1 year ago
@METALMICHEW Yes you can either set it to stay high volume no matter what or have it respond appropriately to dynamics. There are great videos on youtube of people playing electronic kits triggering superior drummer that really show how well it works with dynamics.
