i recently came across your video on unmounting stamps and using the foam mount. I bought everything from ebay same as you anyway does the foam stand up to cleaning with stamp cleaner for a long time and if so are you still happy with the product of the foam? i only bought a few sheets to try it out. not sure if i should get more. enjoyed your videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you think that your remounted stamps stamp as clear of an image when they are on the acrylic blocks as they do when they were on the wooden blocks. I watched another video in which the lady said that the image wasn't as clear.
Mine are just as clear. When I'm stamping, whether it be with clear acrylics or rubber stamps, I always use my foam stamping surface (you can also use a mousepad), so that the images always come out good and clear! I also use my Rock a Blocks, which are amazing!
amazing video ... thank you . I was thinking as I was watching if you owned a light box that would also be handy to lay the foam on and then add your unmnted stamp on top. love the video.
so i saw the vid by hidilily (sp?) where she put them in the microwave to get the rubber from the wood - but i don't remember her taking the foam from the rubber... there's stickiness on the foam then that'll stick to the acrylic block - or so I thought that's what she was doing.
or am i wrong? is that just the whole wrong way to do it & an easy way of stickying up your blocks? Ugh!!
plus idk what to do with my wood blocks now that there's nothing on them LMAO reuse them yeah but how!?
so but i have the idea to take the rubber from the foam now and get new mounting foam & remounting it onto the new foam with the cling side out so it'll go on acrylic blocks.
that's all you're really doin' right? (dumb question, yes lol). i've seen a few vids & it's like everyone's doing it different & i'm new to this so bare with me!
I haven't seen that video. But if you want your rubber stamps to cling to the acrylic blocks, you'll need a special foam that has a static cling to it. The foam that's between the wooden block and the rubber stamp wouldn't be sufficient, because it's not vinyl/static cling.
I'm going to do a video about what I'm doing with some of my blocks!!!
hidilley was who i watched & she said it'll have stickiness but it works - another person did that too... they both said "it works"... but then the 2nd person said if the foam is old & pulling away, it's better to just take it off the foam & remount on new stuff - ezmount... so yah. idk i'm getting sticky residue though they said nothing about it and that it wouldn't adhere to the acrylic blocks. but i'm not finding ezmount at hobby lobby :(
I've never seen EZ Mount in the stores. You have to order it online. I would suggest Ebay, because there is a seller who sells the white foam like what I'm using and it's half the price! :o)
OK! Did some research on YellowBook's site, and found a store mostly for stamping, and they have it for 4.95 (not bad for being EZMount brand) so yah. it's only 20 mins away from me.
anyone in Ohio - go to Stamp Your Art Out on Kenwood Road!! Seriously!!
is this also some kind of ez-mount?? what brand?? i only know u-mount and ez-mount but nether are see tru... (but are very sticky, so i'm not scared the stamps will fall off). And do you have any ideas to get the foam of mounted rubber stamps?? (i've got some dried out foam between wood and rubber stamp, and it all breaks into little pieces when i try to pull the stamp of...)
I did another video that is a response to this one, which is an overview of the foam I used in this video. Please take a look at that vid, as it will answer most of your questions. The foam I use is very sticky as well, no need to worry that it will come off once adhered to the rubber.
On stamps that have stubborn foam, you may need to put them in the microwave to melt the adhesive first (5-10 seconds). This will help the foam separate easier from the rubber. HTH!

Yes, that's all I'm doing. You'll definitely want to get the special foam. It's totally worth it IMHO!

yeah i've come across this "stores don't carry ez mount" in quite a few places now; figures!
yeah i thought i found 1 seller selling the white kind (with the turtle) for like 2.95, and one seller (same kind) for 3.95. way cheap! :)

Great video. Where can I buy the heat tool and what is the brand name?
jonideb 2 years ago
The heat tool I use is called "Hot Marks" by Walnut Hollow. I got mine at Michaels in the wood crafting section.

thank you so much for your quick response.

I also saw the Walnut Hollow heat tool at Walmart last night! It was in the crafts aisle where they keep the stencils and such.
