"After 200 years the're still splintered". RETARD. Learn your history. Maori never viewed themselves as one people, they were always split into various Iwi groups. The concept of ' tangata Maori' only arose after Euros came to NZ. Its like saying all European countries should agree on everything. You're so ignorant TQ. Go read Michael King's History of NZ, learn some facts.
You know the American founding fathers to rebelled against the British would probs be considered terrorists by you. I'm not condoning Tuhoe etc but something to think about.
torqueingheads, you are a complete racist and a totally ill-informed liar. It's people like that damage this country by perpetuating your racist myths, ill informed opinions and creating fear.
Hey! Its you again! Do you remember how you spoke about Nelson Mandela? You know he was the guy who headed the militant arm of the ANC, and that he was a terrorist? But you asked a sensible question a while back and for that you have my respect I shall attempt to answer it. Tame furthers the cause by refusing to bow down to Pakeha demands. Thats what represents for us, the voice of resistance!
This is the first time I want to say something about all these reactions,,what I just red.
What I think is dumb at first,,is the negative respond I see.
I am half tuhoe myself, and I do know alot about our history and where im from.
I hope people who think negative,do really get to know the tuhoe people for what they really stand for.If they get the chance, they would find other words to express there feelings, and really listen to what this man is saying.
Cop ouit. I've never denied Maori issues. I've never focused on European issues. We're all biased to an extent, and its hard to detach from things if you're essentially interwoven with it somehow. I try my best, though, and I won't accept your attempt to discredit my position. You've shown a lack of respect to ethnic races, Maori being the primary exemplar. What you say has been riddled with racist bullshit.
Your opinions on Tame have weight to them, I can see that. But, when it comes to listening to you, it's rather easy to be cynical about why these opinons really come about - I feel there's still an underlying reason that's behind it all.
Lets put things into perspective. Tame's way of doing things is arguable, but quite frankly, he doesn't give a fuck and is prepared push the 'European' boundaries because he doesn't adhere to it, nor is he a government associate which is key to note. He's an activist, there's no doubt. However, there are numerous things he's done or contributed to that have effectively been better for NZ as a whole, not only Tuhoe.
It wasnt intended to be dismissive. I understand your position with Tame, but you broadened your scope to include Maori leadership in general, which I will definately dismiss because it's completely false. Fuck up with the "rose tinted glasses". That's more crap. I know Maori shit stinks as much as anyone elses. From what I've observed, if there's anyone with tinted vision, it's you, e koro. If you think I'm wrong, then go through my fomer comments and present your case.
There isn't a void, at all. You believe that because of your ignorance. Tame's acts dominate the media, and anyone who watches the news but doesnt participate in the Maori communities throughout this country, knows no better. "the abyss that exists between our cultures" - how melodramatic - a complete overstatement. The shit you say is from 'your' European perspective. Just a friendly reminder. I bet I know what you're going to respond with. Same shit, different thread
Koro, you are welcome to your opinions of Tame. I have my own, and in some things I don't agree with him. If you take a look at what his intentions are, and the philosophies behind them, they aren't 'undignified', at all. He's dedicated to the cause. You can have your token stab, and disagree with his manner of conduct by saying that it's not dignified, but for me, there is dignity and honour in his overall being.
I don't think too many 'Europeans' would be hung up on the idea, as you may be. It's a superficial thing, and isn't too dificult to ascertain somewhat of an understanding. It's like Powhiri. Maori can help visitors understand what they mean, but if they don't or aren't even willing to try, their not going to 'change' it as a result. FYI, Maori don't need to convince you of anything. We're not on trial here. We need to come to a mutual understanding, insetad.
What's the difference between expressing yourself with words, and expressing yourself in action? I've said this before, ithose 'uncivilized' actions are symbolic of his disgust. I do see where you're coming from, but you've just got to move past it, even if it is you don't agree with it. Remember, back in the day, people would understand what it meant, like haka and wero. If you don't think it's smart, maybe you should cruise on in there with that swastica on your forehead and take over for him
in Christchurch where the Police Commissioner fronted up to Maori, more specifically Tuhoe, about the thinking that was behind the raids in the Urewera. There are some of us who are aware of Tuhoetanga, and have an idea about what went on in the Urewera. I'm not here to prove to you that I hold the matauranga, but if you think only 'Tuhoe' truly know, then that's ignorance.
If you want to go at it again, make sure you read the fucken thing proply instead of just breaking out into haka
Yes, I've met Tamati, and yes, I've met Tame. When I say Tamati is the main man, I mean no disrespect to Tame. Tamati in my eyes is the main constituent to the brains trust, I don't give a fuck if you agree with me or not. An uncle of mine has a close relationship with Tamati and Huka, and they often help each other with their respective networks. I havn't been to Tuhoe whanau hui that were held around the motu, only because I couldn't make it. I did however attend one of the hui in
Mate, you need your daily intake of dack or something, calm yourself down there brother. Can you 'prove' to me otherwise? I have the opinion that Tamati is very much the cornerstone for Tuhoe at this present time. I'm not Tuhoe, but that is irreelevant. Read comments more closely: I never said what the media portrays is fact, far from it. The media portray Tuhoe in a negative way, which implies that II don't buy into it. Got that, mate? No need to get on the defensive, self rightous buzz
Tamati Kruger is the main man behind the scenes, not that any of you who scold, scrutinize and assume the worst would fucken know that. The media paints Tuhoe as this group of criminals, largely through the actions of Tame Iti, and some of that he needs to take responsibility for, but if you really want to know and dispell of your ignorance, actually look a little deeper instead of submitting to suckerness
Wonderful man, with an amazing way about him. If you met him, you would know what I mean
Police brutality is alive and well in America. The police beat up a girl at Reagan National Airport in DC. They assaulted this girl and gave her a serious brain injury and made her entire body black and blue. Then they arrested HER and charged her with a made up crime to cover up the police brutality. The airport police and TSA are supposed to be there to protect us from terrorists, not beat up women.
And after all this...this idiot managed to split TUHOE in two all by himself...hahaha

Koro, you're completely deserving of being called a racist - the things you've said havnt exactly been suttle.
At the first sign of being accused, you pull out the 'race-defense card'.
Nap time koro, it's probably the light that your computer emmits which is too much for your eyes.
