  • Shea Stadium will always hold a special place in my heart, even though I now live over 2,000 miles away.

Good video, but you only showed the remodeled Shea.

  • Why didnt you put some pictures of the Beatles at Shea?

  • I'm not a Mets fan or never been to Shea Stadium & I'm sure it had its drawbacks but just from viewing games on TV that were played there it seem to be one of the loudest stadiums in America with an awesome Fan Atmosphere & Home Field Advantage where the fans were on top of the action & had a very good view of the game.

  • i used to love going to shea on a cloudy day with my parents and brother..i remember we would enter the world fairs area and being only 5-10 years old probably, i would mistake the US open tennis stadium for shea..then wed arrive in the parking lot..it seemed small from a distance, but then i would get right beneath it and it was literally larger then life...nothing like taking those cramped (consistently broken) escelators to a great afternoon of baseball..love ya shea RIP.playoffs 2010! @ citi

  • Wow. The memories i have of Shea are beautiful. My first Mets game was in 1968. I think Nolan Ryan was pitching.

I left the east coast in 1981, and didnt come back until1994. I got to go to "the new Shea".

My proudest moment was when i got achance to walk on the field at Shea Stadium, during banner day. Anyone remember banner day at Shea?

  • what the title of that song???

  • The Beatles - In My Life

  • Shea look like shit but it was our shit

  • a lot of peoples childhoods right there

  • I love this beatles song, shea was the best looking field in my books and ain't no f-ing Citi field can replace that cause if your a real mets fan Shea is never away in our hearts

  • The freaking apple in citi field needs 18 friggin minutes to charge.... shows that met ownership who ok'd that move didnt count on many back to back homeruns....

  • for some reason this reminds me of the 06 season, that was our year, it was bs that we didnt win t all

  • For all it's fault I will always love Shea more than Citifield............if I want a steak dinner I will go to a good restaurant.....nothing like a game at Shea with a hotdog and a beer..............too bad Fred Wilpon thinks the Mets are the Dodgers, they could have taken some seats out of shea, put in a restaurant, more restrooms, and luxury boxes, and turned the seats down the line, to have better site lines...Citifield is sooooooooooooo boringgggggggggg!

  • Wat song is this

  • In My Life by The Beatles. It says it in the description.

  • damn, i miss it already

  • @IloveNYC7 YOUR A FN IDIOT IF YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT SONG OR BAND SINGS THIS

  • @tigerwoodsondxm jees calm down fag its a song and i figured it out.

  • damn marlins have to blow our playoff chances last day at dolphins stadium we should get them bacl

  • Comment removed

  • Great video man and song choice im going to miss this place as well but maybe a new stadium means new outcomes in the season

  • Wow, that was a great video. Nice job.

I was working at Citifield and it broke my heart every time I saw the wrecking ball take out another section. I'm really gonna miss Shea.

Thanks for sharing this vid, great song choice as well. :)

    Tom

  • me gusta, gracias para el video, son muchas memorias muy bueno de shea, it will be missed

  • Wasn't it the venue for the Beatles first American gig aswell?

  • What is this? Horrible song. I hate the Beatles and you shouldn't do a sad song.

  • hey, im not the biggest fan of them either but the song fit. this wasn't supposed to be a happy jolly video. it was supposed to be kinda sad because,,,, shea is closing. Plus, this was the last song they ever played at shea....

  • sad

shea is a good stadium but i'm sure there is something called renovations and citi looks kinda generic nothing stands out about it and shea holds more

    shame on mets

  • shame on the mets? generic new stadium? Nothing stands out? not at all man. The new stadium has the jackie robinson rotunda made of the same brick type as ebbets field. it has new HD scoreboards, a new home run apple, a wiffle ball field, a bridge overlapping both bullpens, not to mention the many restaraunts, one which is open even when the mets aren't playing at citi. the new stadium is ridiculously better. although i do agree about the sadness of shea being gone :(

  • the capacity is 45,000 like and most likely the prices won't be cheap and they probably will have more suites

look at every other stadium around the league and tell me that it almost looks the same

but the rotunda is nice but i bet their food is probably nasty lol

  • yeah, but its not like they just decided to have less seats. that happened because they made more leg room and wider aisles. plus, there were only about 3 or 4 games a year where shea held more than 45,000 (opening day, final game, rivalry games) and the rest of the time, there was a lot of wasted space. and there are some really noticable differences. i listed a few of them in the previous comment. while it might not be shea, it still is amazing and has a lot of advantages. true about the food

  • BUT look at it from the outside and tell me that the stadium is generic

really the mets belong at shea not citi

don't know if it is me but the mets look better at shea than citi but i just have to get used it

    GO YANKEES (just playing)

  • its not generic. it was designed after ebbets field, a unique design that no ther stadium has. i mean, which stadium does this look like? And i agree, the mets did look good at shea, but i think they will look great at citi. lol, go yankees.

  • ok it looks kinda like everyone but i cannot find one yeah but hpefully citi loses it name and it could be called "whatever the Yankees can build i can build better" stadium

I SUPPLIED A-ROD STEROIDS (just playing)

  • Okay, the reason for more seats is because they want the new stadium to look like its always full no matter what. No the prices will not be cheaper, its just a marketing strategy. And no , over the past few years Shea has had almost full capacity, only in the early days (60's-70's) and in the 90's did it look empty because every time I went either on a weekend or a week day it was always packed.

  • Shea was definetly not empty in the 60s and early 70s. In the first couple of years a lot of people came to Shea because it was a brand new, state of the art staium. And a lot people came out again of course in '69. But the Mets ad some of their highest attendance years in the early 70s including almost 2 millionin '73. But the reason there was that many seats to begin with was because, if you remember the Jets also played there until the 80s.

  • both things you said are wrong. a team doesnt decide to drop 10k seats just for the purpose of looking good. and shea always being full thing is bs. the average attendance at shea since 05 was 44,361. with a total capacity at shea of 57k. thats about 12k empty seats. it costs a LOT of money to install seats. the mets only used all 57k seats for maybe 5 special games a year. a team like the mets wouldn't want to spend all that money just to install some seats that would only be used on occasion

  • go get a burger from the shake shack and tell me that the food is nasty, best thing ive ever tasted

  • you mustve been stoned! the shake shack burgers taste the same as the burgers from the other stands! As a mets fan, im admitting that the food sucks. the only thing you'll get thats real food is anyone of the clubs

  • Nice touch with the Beatles song. I like all the Shea stadiums tributes better than the Yankees tributes, because they seem to be more personal.

  • I basically grew up at Shea..spent many Sundays there when doubleheaders were the standard...only wen to one playof game but it was a memotrable one-Game 3 1973 NLCS-Rose-harrleson fight

saw Tom Terrif pitch many winning games...what a wonderful place filled with so many magical moments...

  • 1,000th view!!

  • Go Mets!

  • love the beatles love the mets. John Lennon and Paul Mcartney forever, Darryl Strawberry and Dwight Gooden forever. Thanks for the video

  • do you have season tickets, i do

  • yeah lets tear down the place where the beatles had their first concert in the us and the place where my dad and grandfather saw the first ever game played there, and the place that ive had so many memories ........................................... YEAH LETS TEAR IT DOWN

  • 2:16 is an amazing picture

  • that is a great song the last song played at shea i was sitting in the same area at the last game at shea to nice video

  • Brings back amazing memories...
