  • Sad they stop to do (good) music after 1994...

  • o.mg that was beautiful and left me wondering why they did not make it like others that have no talent?????????????

  • yes, it is beggars belief, thanks for your kind comment.

  • You really like yourself, don't you? LOL

  • Hi @dddux

I'm intrigued - what makes you say that??

    Thanks

    Nigel

  • @nglimer

Oh it was just a mistake on my part, sorry. I thought you were the guy in the video that put himself in it. So egotistic and just plain stupid, but you're not. Sorry. I realised it almost immediately after I posted that stupid message. ;) I'm referring to the long black haired guy in this video. ;)

  • @dddux

    Hi again

I am indeed the guy in the vid who you describe as liking himself, egotistic and plain stupid and remain intrigued by your comments.

    Thanks

    Nigel

  • thanks finally some one's put up a descent hifi sound at last ty :)

  • what's the name of the singer???????????

  • Hi

She goes under the name off 99 Kowalski.

I think she is Kristine Kowalski.

    Cheers

  • @nglimer thankx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Back in '93 when i first bought the record 'Up Evil', the record linked with 'Off', I didn't really understand it or liked it (that much). I felt a bit "uncomfortable". I think I wasn't ready. I was also more into older 242 back then. However listening to it nowadays gives me goosebumps. They've put so much effort in to this music! Great music & atmosphere. Mirrors of modern society and a vent. It's like both music and art. At least for me. I like both the old and the more later sound of F242

  • vISUALS COMPLIMENTED THIS SONG NICELY...gOOD JOB!

  • Thanks so much - a very welcome comment...

  • From the best 242 album EVER. Techno + fem attitude >:-) Hope 242 can visit Charlotte, NC again someday!

  • good job I like it

  • That really? No, no really! Absolute? Maybe..... Thank!

  • The emo stuff depicted here is sooooo out of place ... useless images... i´ll keep the sound and that´s it.

  • Fair enough - thanks anyway.

I didn't even realise the images were emo. I chose stuff that looked cold.

  • @nglimer : Thank YOU, nglimer !! Track is great anyways, i luv 242 ... i apologize if i was rude... greets from MX.

  • No worries - we both recognise great music it would seem.......

  • @nglimer

None of the pictures are "emo"

    That guy is dumb.

  • @Skeletonwitharaygun i agree...wtf, that little 3 letter word has nothing to do with this song/video! dumb kids!

  • Thank you!

  • Cheers - don't like emo anyway....

  • Thank you for part one of your comment!

  • The female vocalist for this song, as well as all of the female vox on Front 242's 1993 albums "05:22:09:12 OFF" and "Angels vs. Animals", were done by the lovely vocalist by the name of Kristin Kowalski, otherwise known as "99 Kowalski".

Kristin formerly was the vocalist of a NYC based band by the name of "Spill" which caught the attention of Front 242's Patrick Codenys and Daniel Bressanutti.

More info on Kristen can be found here:

    ;-)

  • Many Thanks for the info and link

  • @nglimer

You are most welcome. Kristin is a real babe ... intelligent, sexy, a bit New Age-y, and creative.

I really wish Front 242 would have done more stuff with her. Her voice added a much needed "punch" to the F242 sound back in the early 90's.

Also, she released a track titled "Dive", under the stage name "Evulva" on the "Diva X Machina 2" compilation [ track 10 ] put out by COP Intl. records in 1998.

    Link for it here:

  • In illusion comfort lies....

  • Greates well!

  • cheers!

  • @nglimer Ooooh YEEEEEEEEEEE! Thanck's is advancced! And, please, more full, full, fulll! And death!

  • OK - will do

  • Good job from Front 242. The girl's voice is creepy as hell.

  • Yep - her voice is so chilling - brilliant!

  • I dont care for the labelling...in my mind the only label is "Amazingly good music" I dont care if you call it EBM or Industrial or goth....its music I LIKE so call it SNELL MUSIC for all I care

  • Excellent comment - thank you

  • EBM. GOTH. FUKtard,

When Front 242 was raging in early 80s and 90s this labeling of everything was non-existent. Front 242 is good music...stop naming shit that came out when you were 2 years old.

  • Hi there

I'm not sure if your comments are aimed at me or not, but I was 24 when this came out in 1993. As for labelling, as mentioned in an earlier reply, I always felt the audiences tended to categorise themselves and not necessarily in a way prescribed by the bands.

Either way, it matters not, as Front 242 make excellent music as you rightly confirm.

    Thanks for commenting.

    Nige

  • Geez, this video has nothing to do with Front 242...it's funny I listened to this stuff when it came out, kind of sad to see it turned into some kind of goth thing, when that's never what it is.

  • Hi there

Yes, you're right - this video has nothing to do with Front 242. It has more to do with me telling the world what a great song this is. I always saw Front 242 as being EBM, but with a gothic audience. Similarly, Fields of the Nephilim are not a goth band, they just have a predominantly gothic audience.

Thank you for your most observant comment though.

    Cheers

    Nige

  • love the familiarity of front242 w/goth love and beauty . Awesome new sound

  • Cheers me dear

  • Who cares about visuals when the music is soooooooooo good! Give me an album cover any day!

  • Agreed - excellent comment.

    Thank you

  • Goth 101 or not, I loved it! Great song selection, BTW.

  • Thank you - much appreciated.

  • Great song. Cliched images and video though. It's like Goth 101. Been looking at Outburn magazine too much....

  • Hi There

Yes, I admit to the cliched images. Some of them (not all) work quite well though, so I'd opt to keep some out of Goth 101. I've never seen Outburn magazine and might have to take a gander now!!!!!!

  • Images you selected are ideal, some even worth pausing on. Do you know the name/location of the statue at 2:50 (and when I fall...)?

  • Hi

Thanx for commenting. I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question, I selected so many images to start with and generally messed about as this was only my second slideshow video.

  • Oh no, this will certainly attract those depressed emo's...

  • I think you might be right, but at least it keeps my viewing figures up!!

    Cheers for posting

    Nigel

  • also has noone noticed the numbers on the album spell evil?? ooooohhhhh, spoookyy! x

  • I hadn't noticed, but it makes sense thinking about the 'Up Evil' album title.

    Thanx for commenting.

    Nige

  • thx so fucking much!!!!

  • You're welcome - glad you like it

  • Excellent vid, great imagery and what a wicked tune. What album is this off?

  • Hi there

Thank you, you're right it is a wicked tune. The album is 'oddly' called '05:22:09:12 Off '.

    I hope you enjoy it.

    Nigel

  • expressing art for the sake of art has certain qualities that caneither be hiddenor impersonated.

you strike me as a heartist. nice red_blood_cells, btw.

  • A most intriguing comment - thank you.

I too, like those blood cells.

  • i realllly love this

  • Thank you Alice - glad you like it.

  • Thanks for making an actual video. It's very well done. This song for me defined morning afterparties in the mid 90s in Texas and New York strung out on very good MDMA which, much later on, proved to be relatively chemically innocuous. Still fucking amazing.

  • You're welcome - I've had really good feedback, so it makes all worthwhile. It's such an awesome song and deserves a wider audience.

  • Awesome.

(It's about time someone did a video for this song...)

  • Thanx - I completely agree.

  • Fucken amazing i didn't think this was on Youtube...this song totally reminds me of two years ago when i first heard of front 242...plus the message of the song is great too </3 <--- its like that

  • Hi there

Songs like this one deserve to be on YouTube; I'm so glad you like it, you obviously have good taste!

  • Obviously mine is better &/~

  • Hi - thanx for your reply (and good taste!)

  • I have to admit it's one of my favourites too. A pity that most people have never heard of it. Cheers

  • this is probably my favorite song ever, thats saying something considering the ridiculously large taste in music I have.

  • Super!

  • Thank you!
