How did Rock Hudson avoid getting blacklisted during the McCarthyite era of Hollywood Red-scare fear-and-terror tactics -- instead becoming a True Blue Heroic icon for era's righteous Military glory-mongering. Hard to avoid suspicion he sold-out to trade deep-cover info on fellow-actor's left-leaning 'proclivities' for keeping his closetted secret. Otherwise he would have been first to get tossed under the bus as morally-compromised thus politically undependable unless co-opted, ie. blackmailed.

It's a good thing Col. Caldwell didn't approve Col. Garcia's request for transfer to B-58 maintenance--he would have been out of a job in a few years. By sticking to B-52 maintenance, he'd still have a job to this day.

Rock's other Air Force movie was "Battle Hymn" about P-51's in Korea. I stopped by Beale once, they had about 17 or so SR-71's on the flightline.

Thanks for posting this awesome movie. I remember my Dad taking me to see it when it was first released in June, 1963. We saw it at a drive-in movie theater. I was 7 years old.

Rock is actually a very credible actor and likable character. He performs this role well. Thank you so much for uploading this classic early 60's film, representing America before the infections of postmodernism and multiculturalism weakened her---from the inside, via the Enemy Within.
