  • Those where the days when all it took was a phone call to change the world. Now there's to much politics.

  • From back in the day when SAC still existed and had control of its nukes. I was in SAC on a BUFF base in the 1980's. Today's system of ACC/STRATCOM is a fucking joke. (Google: "minot barksdale incident")

  • They showed us this movie in grade school.

  • How did Rock Hudson avoid getting blacklisted during the McCarthyite era of Hollywood Red-scare fear-and-terror tactics -- instead becoming a True Blue Heroic icon for era's righteous Military glory-mongering. Hard to avoid suspicion he sold-out to trade deep-cover info on fellow-actor's left-leaning 'proclivities' for keeping his closetted secret. Otherwise he would have been first to get tossed under the bus as morally-compromised thus politically undependable unless co-opted, ie. blackmailed.

  • @starmanskye thats not true you have it all wrong rock was never associated with communists the movie studio traded a file on george nader [ who was also gay] to confidentil magazine it ruined his career he had to go to europe to do cheap movies he inherited all of rocks money

  • Thanks for uploading haven't seen it for years really enjoyed it.

  • It's a good thing Col. Caldwell didn't approve Col. Garcia's request for transfer to B-58 maintenance--he would have been out of a job in a few years. By sticking to B-52 maintenance, he'd still have a job to this day.

  • Its too bad they chose Rock hudson for the lead role, it could have been a good film. I cant stand watching him now.

  • Rod Taylor Hotel

  • Vietnam was really starting to rock and roll when this came out. No one was getting fired.

  • Thank you for this capture. I have been looking for it for years . I am a former SAC wienie! Thanks 99WhatsUpDoc99!!!!

  • What a fantastic cold war film

    Thank you for posting.

  • How come practically everybody in this movie is a full bird colonel? How many full birds does SAC need to run a Wing? Especially when the two- and three-stripers run everything, everybody else just does paperwork.

  • @gallantrycross Maybe SAC is a bag of popcorn?

  • @gallantrycross

AFAIK four full colonels in a USAF wing at that time-

    commander

    vice commander

    deputy commander for operations

    deputy commnander for maintenance

  • Thanks for posting this! A great testament to the dedicated men of SAC. The scene at 1:24:40 recalls that line from Ben Hur-"Your eyes are full of hate. That's good. Hate keeps a man alive. It gives him strength".

  • "There's enough people in SAC to question every move I make without getting it from you!" --Rock Hudson finally acts like a man. (lol) This is a great Air Force movie. Rock's other Air Force movie was "Battle Hymn" about P-51's in Korea. I stopped by Beale once, they had about 17 or so SR-71's on the flightline.

  • Excellent!!!

  • Well, folks . . . notice that the flying supervisor on this production was veteran pilot

Paul Mantz . . . later killed filming the Jimmy Stewart film "Flight Of The Phoenix."

    Gary in Arizona

  • I just love these old movies keep up loading....

  • I love this movie. I am still waiting for it to come out in DVD format. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for posting this awesome movie. I remember my Dad taking me to see it when it was first released in June, 1963. We saw it at a drive-in movie theater. I was 7 years old.

  • Who can go wrong with that crazy Aussie "Rodney" Taylor!

  • Doc99,

Rock is actually a very credible actor and likable character. He performs this role well. Thank you so much for uploading this classic early 60's film, representing America before the infections of postmodernism and multiculturalism weakened her---from the inside, via the Enemy Within.

  • @bboucharde Multiculturalism? you mean Rock comming out of the closet? or reather staying inside the closet? please define multiculturalism, America is weaken?

  • @bboucharde Multiculturalism is what has made America strong from the very beginning. And who is the Enemy Within?

  • @bloodstormseeker -- Heh! IMO the 'blame multiculturalism (& postmodernism)' meme is typical scapegoating, result of many people's inability via moral cowardice or intellectual laziness, to come to terms w/ basic propaganda concepts that have enabled unelected ruling-elite 'leaders' to assume power under cover of 'democracy' & security via the MIC & Police State, tho they betray the nation's core ideals. Corporations, political technocrats, criminal syndicates are the Deep State 'enemy within'.

  • @bboucharde -- Oh FFS ... Multiculturalism & postmodernism aren't responsible for the manipulation, fraud, abuse of power & sabotage of American ideals that hyped Cold War hysteria to vastly enrich the MIC & justify US's Imperialist interventions, provoking wars & conflicts, dozens of brutal despotic regimes & bankruped nations thru financial schemes ie. neoliberalism, IMF/World Bank engineered Disaster Capitalism & Economic Hitman betrayal. Over 60 yrs of treachery & deciet = US Police State.

  • Thanks for the upload. Execellent movie, for us, aviation fans.

  • Thanks for the upload. Very good movie.

  • Very good film - shows what families endure with military life!

Fun for us in California - since it was filmed at Beale AFB in Marysville!

  • Great film! Thanks
