  • the guy says hospitals are undermanned so that is serving your country? Tim just said it... Serve Life.

  • Tim's a sharp man

  • I love Tim and I love Jeff. They are two of the greatest musicians. Having said that, Tim is ALLllll on drugs in this interview. Which is fine, because he was way to intelligent for any of these moorons beeing with him in the studio. But still, he's just so high on something. Come one, I hope everyone can agree that he is. It's so obvious.

  • @MsMiketheMan id have to disagree with you in thinking hes high because to me obviously hes way... to smart to get high before an interview like this, like you said with a bunch of morons. Hes not a moron so i dont think he would let himself look ignorant and stupid in front og the public... as if he could even if he tried.

  • what he starts sayin from 3:02 is showin that motherfucker understood it from the begining and its sad that most of the people still today dont understand that.and what he says about insides-outsides its also a great advice ive taken from many smart people whom seemed to me that understood the healthiest way we should function.god bless Tim and his music from which smart people can learn a lot about being even smarter

  • That guy in the tie looks like Steven Greer. Anyone else see and hear the resemblence?

  • Other than the terminology it is phucking amazing!!

  • That looked like a fascinating show.

Now on TV its dancing with the stars, X Factor and soap operas. Echoing Tims message that its there to hypnotize you. At the very least its there to distract you from critical thinking about our reality. Politicians wont/cant fix it because they dont work for us. Thats an illusion. They work for something else, not the average person. Yet its the average person keeping this status quo and the exceptional peoples voices are being drowned out!

  • he was extremely prophetic..

especially if you think about what is happening on wall street right now

  • No mention that JOSEPH HELLER is in this? Tim Buckley and Joseph Heller in a sociopolitical debate? How wild is that?

  • no idea what hes saying but his confidence makes me agree with him.

  • "ya dig? ..and he's gettin' bread"

he's really too beautiful to be true

  • and the alternative is what, Tim? the heroin and alcohol that killed you? you fail and you failed! how did you serve us? how did you serve humanity" songs don't save lives heroin and alcohol don't save lives what did you offer? nothing! it's easy to criticize
  • @ArmorDinnerJacket SONGS SAVE LIVES EVERYDAY, AND THERES BEEN MANY A TIME WHERE TIM'S SONGS HAVE SAVED MINE. YES IT IS EASY TO CRITICIZE ISNT IT ?? HOW HYPOCRITICAL OF YOU. THOSE THAT CANT DO... BITCH.

  • He looks, sounds and even thinks just like Jeff.........why the hell could he not find the time to, I don't know.................RAISE HIM?!

  • @ArtemisFlyingV LOOK BACK AT MY COMMENTS FOOL. I EXPLAIN IT ALL. ALSO LISTEN TO "DREAM LETTER" LIVE IN LONDON.

  • @LoveforGia There is absolutely nothing you can say that can really change the fact that he intentionally did not raise his son. No matter what the circumstance unless he's in prison or dead, there is no way to defend that. So really think about you're calling a "fool" asshole.

  • @ArtemisFlyingV Yeah ok whatever you say.. slow down abit you down make no sence. Basically you lack the maturity and insight to fully understand the situation. Jeff loved, respected, understood, admired and even to some extent forgave his father for their non exsistant relationship. otherwise the world would know him as Jeff Guibert, not Jeff Buckley - ya dig. lol. he didnt have to take his fathers name - ya dig. if Jeff was above all this and understood, what gives you the right to judge ??

  • @LoveforGia That's lovely. How's that supposed to make me find abandoning my child acceptable again? "Basically you lack the maturity and insight to fully understand the situation." Basically you lack the common sense and intelligence to fully understand the situation :D

  • @ArtemisFlyingV ITS NOT. Im sorry if you know first hand how this shit goes, so does my son and my father with his dad for that matter so i understand full well what its all about from both angles. DONT CONFUSE AND COMPARE YOUR SITUATION TO THAT OF TIM AND JEFFS. You lack the insight and maturity to understand THEIR situation, you gettin it twisted homie. dont comdemn Tim for your own faults? Tim died when jeff was 8. u aint on a world tour, dont waste time bitchn at me do something about it then

  • @LoveforGia Fucking understand that I DO NOT condone abandoning your fucking child! There is NOTHING you can say that will justify it! And really, do you fucking know me? NO YOU DON'T! So stop thinking you have some elitist privilege to insult and look down upon me. I'M NOT IMMATURE, UNDER VIRTUALLY ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNLESS FORCED CONSCIOUSLY ABANDONING YOUR CHILD IS BAD AND I'M THROUGH FUCKING ARGUING WITH YOU!! GOODBYE!

  • @ArtemisFlyingV huh? your incapable of emotional intelligence.didnt u say "hows that supposed to make me feel abandoning my child again ?? huh ? did you not admit to abandoning your child ?. yep this is the internet - full of nutters, purely and simply your a wanker with a few issues. no one wants ta ere ya fucked up shit, your angry and looking for someone to blame well ya know what, it aint me and it aint tim you know what i dont like ? double standards. grow the fuck up. im a single mother.

  • He has a very philosophical way of thinking... I like the way he thinks, smart..

  • TV is hypnotizing and especially during Tim's time, with sitcoms -- the world was all fantasy and made regular people feel like crap because they didn't live in that lifestyle of perfection.

  • I love Tim Buckley after this because he is right and this was 40 years ago -- reality is inside us, not the superficial but impressive or unimpressive trappings. How happy Jeff Buckley would have been if he found more time for him -- and, well - what's over is over.

  • Tim's right about TV and the world.

  • Talks just like Bob Dylan

  • The smear of Christians here is unwarranted.

  • is truth a smudge when its in opposition to religious proselytizing @brucefetter ?

  • @brucefetter He's not smearing christians, he was a christian, in the truest sence. what hes saying is he doesnt agree with is people like billy using organised religion and praying on peoples insecurities to make money. listen to his song "the earth is broken". Remember the story (the only time in the bible when jesus got really pissed off), was when he over turned tables cos he busted priests in the temple for turning it into a market place and hence making money of of the lord.

  • And if any doubters still aint convinced, Tim was just trying ta live love and laugh, cry, feel and create, and share his light with us, just stumblin his way thru - no different to the rest of us - like a phoenician / egyption King - he was majickal, but human all the same! just like you and i.. just take a listen to Tim's lovelorn balled for his mrs and for jeff, his lil boy, a song called "dream letter" x o x

  • the first thing tim says. you don't searve your country you searve life. thats what all thoes idots for the war now should listen to that. its just nuts that what hes talking about. compleatly relevent right now.

  • wow talk about a guy before his time.

  • kurt cobain speaks like tim buckley to me.

tim seemed to be a pretty intelligent, down to earth guy...wonder why he didn't wanna be a part of jeff's life

  • @BoddhasServants ITS Not the fact that Tim didnt want to be a part of jeff's life, it was the fact that Mary (Jeffs mom) and tim had a difficult and painfull relationship. they married young, out of high school, Tim felt trapped, although he loved Mary, both they themselves, had difficult and harsh up bringings. Tim was a Touring Musician - always on the road. Their was a lot of tension, heartache and bitterness tween Mary and the woman Tim re-married. DONT EVER DOUBT TIM'S LOVE FOR JEFF

  • @BoddhasServants Apparently he left Mary before Jeff was born. He was on the road a lot. Doing drugs at that level warps one's thinking. Did you know Mary?

Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are judging him and criticizing him for not having been a part of Jeff's life. This may well be a disguised self-glorification. I.e. you'd obviously be a better person. And a fan of Jeff, perhaps?

  • @BoddhasServants Kurt Cobain just as Tim were very sensitive and clever people, but they had some troubled minds. They both couldn't be able to be a good example for a child, in fact they were both slaves of drugs. In my opinion Tim was right to stay far from Jeff. I like Tim, but I must be honest enough to see reality in an objective way.

  • @BoddhasServants he got into this romantic heroin-taking thing. Then his luck ran out.

  • @Mijicm I have to say I think Jeff was flirting with the same thing. Just the river got him first.

  • @cranie4 Good point. I'd say the river got to him first, too. Though, if by river I meant unrequited love. Methinks he was a really good guy, that's all it counts.

  • @BoddhasServants Well, he loved Jeff and wanted to be in his life, but he actually had very low self-esteem that was brought on by the abuse by his parents (his father especially). Tim should have focused more on being a father than a musician, I agree, but I don't think he ever thought he'd be able to be a good father.

  • wish he was still here

  • wayyyy ahead of his time, I said that before didn't I? Sorry for the Deja vous! LOTS of love for posting this!

  • It was '71 and I was managing a band that shared the same rehearsal studio in Venice, Ca as Tim did. That's where were met.

The hall was near the water and you could sit one the roof, overlooking the waves and smoke joints and talk. We did just that when my group was rehearsing.

Tim was a tortured soul, a musical genius and very charismatic person with a great sense of humor...but sarcastic.

We lost him far to soon..he was just breaking out.

Just like Jeff, they were both lost tragically.

  • TV is hypnosis....most people are on this drug that they don't recognize as a drug....addicts who don't know that they are addicts...what more schizophrenic can a place be like this world is...

  • B^U

    Wait... sorry, wrong buckley

  • @iusethelancer1 Learn about Tim... listen to his music.

  • He must've been stoned, lol.

  • based on interviews i find that jeff was a lot like tim.

  • who gives a flyin' fuck about Tims comments, everyone in life has their own "movie",it was his gr8 music that bought u fucks to this site...!!!

  • Great voice. Tiny brain.

  • wheres he from?

  • Is he grabbing a piece of acid off that plastic wrap?

  • see Tim alive here is priceless.

    god bless the youtube !

  • HOW FUCKING BEFORE HIS TIME WAS HE? !!!... A LEGEND..IVE BEEN A FAN SINCE BIRTH.. NO ONE SINCE HAS CAME ALONG AND SAID THIS SHIT UNTILL TUPAC SHAKUR.. GOD BLESS BOTH OF THEM.. TWO KINGS.. LOVE AND GRATITUDE FOR THESE MEN 1111EVA

  • @LoveforGia You must live under a rock, if you think that the only two people who've addressed socioeconomic/philosophic topics are Tim Buckley and Tupac. Ever pick up a book? Plato discussed these themes before the birth of Christ.... Camus, Sartre, Mark Twain, ad infinitum

  • @ritter89 i dont live under a rock pal, but i do live on top the oldest rock in the world. lol. Ever listen to the radio ? wot ya sayin is a no- brainer dude.. ive never heard plato rock a 12 string guitar..lol.. and i dont remember the last time camus spat a freestyle at the crowd in a club. My opnion, Two kings, still stands...

  • A great singer and a real jerk lol.

  • wow- way ahead of his time!!!

  • "The world is whats inside and what cats have lived to pull out of themselves all through time" Hearing him talk is like a mushroom trip

  • i agree with tim...but we have a responsibility to look after our home...the earth.

  • Where's the rest of this interview??? Please post the rest of it. Thanks.

  • @cutis1000

I do not have the full interview

this is assembled from pieces of video on My Fleeting House DVD

  • @willkaakayaga how long is the full interview?

  • That is bucking frilliant, cats, I was thinking the pharoahs had trouble with them.

He has gone sky high in my estimation.

  • He looks so much like Jeff here its scary.

  • this is very old, it is very modern for the time though radical stuff then.

  • What a beautiful man...

  • Tim Buckley what a genius...the man's got a point

  • Genius!

  • Nothing he said was overly difficult to understand.

  • how could he be any more clear? what is with you people... he spoke musician in jazz idiom because that was his world... this clip is very old... about forty years ago he was pointing out what oil companies were doing and are still doing and he was right... listen better...

  • Joseph Heller....the Catch 22 guy??

what are white problems and black problems....

  • @GraceAdler999 non existant, manufactured, he is pointing out that we are our own bogeyman. With a little help from the Monster in Corporations.

  • @davidoffon LOL I got that...he is mesmerizing is all but right all the same

  • "Man, dig, bread, a drag, strung out, cats "..... faaaaar out, these idiots don't half talk a load of pish. Overrated junkie, weirdo prick.

  • Alot of people are saying they arent understanding Tim here. But I think I undertsand him perfectly here. He isn't being ambigius or anything. It's just about what really matters in life.

  • i love tim buckley. but man, this clip is a downer. he is really ill informed and his philosophy is juvenile. his music and writing are wonderful, surprising, and poetic. but as a social commentator, he can't string together 2 complete, grammatical sentences, let alone whole thoughts.

  • Time is so aware. He is a songbird to a generation ready for change

  • quite an eclectic panel, this is awesome, where is the rest of this program?

  • I love Tim but wtf is he talking about? LOL!!

  • i dig tim...wait...did u just call ME decadent?

  • serve ppl...or ima fk u up!!

  • I just fell even more in love with Tim Buckley.

  • @ posthumanhero: I had forgotten about this. but thank you for validating the beliefs I have come to develop about liberal thinkers preferring to insult those who disagree and belittle them rather than respect the right to disagree and consider you do not know everything.

  • Look @ me know.Let's talk about it.`Look @ the fool

  • Tim's wise but not articulate enough to convey what he sees

  • it seems like he was jeff buckey´s father!

  • You ask Tim Buckley for advice like he's some kinda bard/guru to have the answer for your life. He abandoned a kid who could possibly be the greatest most versitile singer ever to live that exploded out of his weanie. The white Dalai Lama right in front of his eyes and turned his back on him.

  • @nat00ben06 That's a bit harsh on the man...

  • smart dude, that's Jeff's father dumbass.

  • what the fuck is this!? He talks like Jeff

  • Friggin Hippies...Ya gottta love em. Living in their eternal dream world. I must admit however; Tim's idea about opening porno hospitals would have been a godsend when I was fourteen and having an outbreak of "Hornyitis". LOL

  • I gotta say he had a very modern perspective on world issues, and it breathes volumes into the situations of today. He had a strong voice on multiple fronts.

  • @YouLikeBosch "A strong voice on multiple fronts"...LMOA

    Ya! Right-on Dude!!

  • @Dealit707 Really!

  • PREACH

  • Tim Buckley....made some amazing music, had some amazing viewpoints on the issues, and made an amazing son Jeff, who did great things, with a great and emotional voice, and died young....is that OK? with all of you? Great artists and visionaries died, when they sholdn't have....we need to leave our mourning aside and celebrate them as the great poets they succeeded in being.

  • @vgoth100 Amen

  • he hit the nail on the head man..television,public schools, dumb assing us all down to better control us..gotta ask why that these great people were murdered > jesus, ghandi, lennon, the list goes on and on and on..

you can bet your last hope that all these diseases we have today are MAN MADE.wake the fuck up people before you get towed away to some internment camp for dissenters..take back your countrys

  • This guy's singing voice was absolutely unbelievable. He might have surpassed Freddie Mercury on my all time favorite singers list.

  • I thought the guy at the end said go to hell and i was like 'wait... what?' lucky i took it back to hear if he actually said that or not haha

  • Way to support the ideas espoused by communists and marxists through the years have put out there. While he may want us all to serve a higher ideal, the idea of removing logic and thinking for yourself is what Germany and the USSR did to their people.

  • @bksarb77 how 'bout utilizing logic and thinking for yourself, then throwing your tv out the window along qith those fake history books...lol.

  • ironic to hear him talking about an oil spill here.

  • Played disk 2, of the anthology 'Morning Glory' this morning. Played it a couple of times, .... Just decided to type in his name here, and this interview came up. Good to see it.

  • TB said Public Schools and TV are the great lobotomizers. Now that time passed, can we say YouTube lobotomizing? Yikes... my eyes! my inner world! it's happening right now. you digg?

  • oil spill

  • I think these guys were like, "Let's sit down with some people who seem like cool people and 'pretend' to talk about the government. Then he showed up and they were like, "What are your thoughts?" but they didn't know that he was something more than they had ever encountered: a person who was awake and in touch with the true energy of the universe. He was stating exactly what was happening and that those forces would only grow stronger. i.e.: present day world

  • @Homey33 ...'awake' ....'true energy' ....'universe' ...i like it when somebody uses this in a sense

  • No way he could've denied that Jeff was his son!

  • who is drummer in the band ?

    thanks

  • @persesse Maury Baker I think...Buddy Helm was later

  • @StuartAnthony

    : )))

    j

  • @StuartAnthony

    thanks

    : ))

    j

  • I love his music but some famous people should not have a opinion of the world . cause they will just make a fool of themselves ie: just then

  • @magarnigle100 He didn't make a fool of himself. He was just 'being himself'. Some kinds of people find that uncomfortable, ie: You. He's not 'acting Bono'. He's just 'being Tim'.

  • @spuffchops70 ie. YOU. . . you did not just say that :) . . . . yer I have trouble 'being myself' and i feel uncomfortable . . . im sorry when have we meet how you so certain ??? please fill me in

  • @magarnigle100 Sorry, I think I confused yours with somebody else's comment, which I can't find now. Somebody was comparing him to Bono.

  • Can't make any sense of what Tim's trying to say here ro maybe I'm just not far out enough to get it LOL, beautiful singer nonetheless!

  • Am I wrong, but is this 40 year old interview more open and more daring than any interview than one today.

  • Serve people? He couldnt even be there for his own son Jeff. He has views that reminds me of Brian Hugh Warner the way he wants to buck the system and has all these rebellious ideas that take a generation by storm. He says tv is bad? Well thats very hypocritical to me because hes obviously on TV in this interview.LOL.

  • @rebulun I don't think he said it was bad, I think he said it was hypnotic and people latch onto it. And I doubt you or anyone knows why Tim stayed out of Jeff's life, so I don't think we can pass Tim off as this wholly evil dude, like that's his persona because he did one regretful thing.

Tim is making intelligent statements, so I don't think we can pass him off as a celebrity seeking a forum. He's debating with a group of kinds sitting around him, right?

  • He's right were all brainwashed and conditioned by tv and media its their form of control and they do a good job.

  • everything he's talking about in this video is a major problem today. governments oil companies ect. mabey people should have listened to him.

i also think he looks like a white bob marley, minus the dreads. who's with me?

  • jeff buckley's dad. rip to them both

  • profound, wonderful insight. I love the little point of acknowledgment at 3.54, cool as ice.

  • I don't even know what the fuck he's talking about.... ._. I'm just lookin at him...

  • @adamdontdocoke, best comment ))

  • @willkaakayaga hahaha

  • @willkaakayaga Thanks :)

  • @adamdontdocoke who knows mabye he was high on smack when he was talking about this stuff.

  • @adamdontdocoke I know what you mean. Back in the ole days, hippies would ramble on for hours talking that shit. It never made any sense to me. Still doesn't.

  • @Dealit707 you don't speak English??

  • @Dealit707 but we still ramble on talking shit.

  • @adamdontdocoke its hypnosis :)

  • @adamdontdocoke Another great musician talking shit about nuttin. Stop talking monkey and start playing

  • @happysham

Shut the fuck up, asshole. It's called an interview for a reason, jackass. And, I think ghettos and internal perspective are a little more than, as you say, "nuttin."

  • @mussman717word

Yeah "The oceon you just look at it you see" Truly words of wisdom. Pornography in hospitals? christ sake

  • @adamdontdocoke he's talking about pretty basic stuff..really hit home just now.

  • @adamdontdocoke I know what you mean...what is it about him

  • @adamdontdocoke Haha nice one

  • oh and by the way, what happened toall the super-duper bright coloured shirts? when did people suddenly decide after this to stop wearing that and start wearing uniformly bland, dark clothing? damn.

  • hahaha, cats? bread? this is fucking awesome! what a wonderful historical document, not just of tim but of the 60s/70s counterculture. i also love the dude in the glasses. poindexters just don't come that bonafide anymore.

some good points made on both sides though. thanks for posting! if there's any more, let's see it!

  • It's funny how "knowing" certain things can cloud peoples perception of a person, knowing he died of a heroin overdose some must expect to see an incoherent drugged up guy. He sounds very clear to me and makes a lot of sense. Maybe the people saying he's incoherent just don't get what he's saying?? i just can't see a problem with what he's saying.. i love what he says and there's definate truth in it.. ya dig? lol he's awesome :)

  • @SadiraLaveda77 you're right, they just can't get on his level.. glad you could.

  • I love how incoherent his rambling is, but poignant at the same time. he's like a stereotypical hippie. and yet he's just pure awesome.

  • Great! wish i could find more Tim on here....Criminally underrated....Love you Tim! Peace

  • @blueberrycobbler

Tim was my friend and norrow minded people like you

don't get it and never will.......

  • @19447777 I don't care who your friends are and what you think of me. I'm just expressing my opinions on a video on Youtube - get over it.

  • @blueberrycobbler yet you try to state your "opinions" as if they are facts.

  • @19447777 I knew Tim also.. bless him

  • @blueberrycobbler I don't understand how corporate america can be good...look at what's happening to your conutry...I know BP stands for British Pet. but look at what they've done...look at every town in America...that don't look anything worth caring for...I mean you name it any old US town looks like some mini concrete empire...soon it won't be...Indian knows best

  • im sick of all the buckley videos getting taken off youtube, first all of jeffs videos got taken off, now most of tims vids, corporate shit

  • he even talks like Jeff!! lol

  • @GypsyTheft you mean Jeff talks like Tim don't you?

  • C I think the opposite Tim's Music monotone drone is kinda boring is baritone voice, and just moment's of vocal range was just that although I kinda agreed with what he said, I mean he was spouting similiar stuff Lennon was saying just not as heavy. Also Jeff was much more beautiful and emotional singing then Tim in my mind there's no debating that.

  • Comment removed

  • actually-he's right!

  • am i right in thinking that is the Joseph Heller who wrote 'Catch 22'??

  • Joseph Heller did write Catch 22.

  • He was so handsome and talented. I don't care what he's talking about, he's lips are hipnotic.

And for those who blame him for whatever happened to Jeffrey Scott: don't fool yourself. Stop listen to Mary "B****" Guibert's lies, the woman is a witch.

  • an ocean...you just look at it. that and it is our link to survival. ya digg?

  • I totally go, Roddirat. He's not articulate at all. Ya dig? LOL.

  • Everybody has something to say, we let assholes "dribble" their shit all over the news everyday. It's shit to "stick to the tunes" just because someone wants to limit you as a musician when you as a person are much more than that.

    I don't think he's a "psuedo-intellectual". I believe he's just speaking his mind.

  • Tim had every right to say his thing.I just happen to think that he's shooting his mouth off without having anything intelligent or meaningful to say whilst trying to appear hip...Great musician though...

  • What was his point about drugs and pornography and hospitals? I'm a little lost.

  • He was making that demarcation between social ill and personal choice. A hospital is there so that whatever the person has done to hurt themselves, a doctor will treat them regardless. He was arguing there should be an outlet for helping those with drug and sexual exploitative problems, but not to the point of restricting the freedom of the individual to do drugs, have lots of sex, or, in the case of hospitals, climb a mountain with the inherent risks. At least that's what I got from his logic.

  • Thanks for explaining. I think I get what he was trying to say.
