i'm not gunna lie, i had a VERY hard time sitting down to read this book. i found the plot extremely hard to get into. oncei sparknote-s it and watched some video clips on here to get the general plot its was a lot easier to sit down and read it, because then i was curious to find what was left out.
Love this book! Dostoevsky is a genius: getting you to feel the anxiety and dizziness and darkness in a character such as Raskolnikov. I'm reading 'The Idiot' now. I dare say it impossible for anyone not to relate to at least one, if not more, of his characters; you are completely enamored with worlds that are so beautifully created through his writings. My favorite author by far!
I really love 'Crime and Punishment'. You're right, it's a great book, but it's so much more than this clip suggests... I think the clip makes it seem sorta like a cheap thriller.
I liked this clip so much, it represents the story accurately with a pace which is in contrast with the heaviness of a classic novel. Very creative and modern. Great work!
And u mentioned suggestions below.. I'd like to see a clip like this for another classic "Tale of the Two Cities" by Charles Dickens :)
Raskolnikov's motive was not simply the money, he ditches all the valuables. His motives were obscure although I'm sure if they made it a movie they would simplify it in such a way.
Sorry but if i remember Rashkalnikov doesn´t kill to have money to help her mother and sister as it is said in this clip. He only steals to distract atentions.
I'm currently reading this book and I kind of relate to it, no I didn't kill anybody LOL, on some circumstances though, esp. on Rodion's characteristics.
If you like Dostoevsky, you have a taste for some of the highest literature in the world. Have you ever read any of Faulkner's work? It is very unusual and unorthodox in style. Have you ever read THE REPUBLIC by Plato? I think it is the highest literature produced by mankind so far.
Yes, you're right, they're the best. Can you imagine a BookClip based on their works?! I think it'll be fantastic. Would you like to try? From Plato, I'd choose Symposium... Let's talk about?
I would like to, but I am not very "computer savy". I really don't know how to post clips and such. I just like to read and reply to all the clips on YouTube. I am glad someone else is interested in these writers, though. "Symposium" might be a good one. Or "Georgias". Or, even the "Apology of Socrates". There are so many good ones.
Yes, you're right, there's so many good books to talk about. By the way, even if you're not a computer savy, I think you should try to post something: it's a way of share your thoughts. If you really don't feel doing this, you could help us writing the next BookClip... What do you think?
From Faulker, one could do short stories such as "A Rose for Emily". Or, one could choose the larger works such as "The Sound and the Fury" or "Absalom, Absalom". I personally liked "Light in August". From Dostoevsky, a lesser known but interesting one is "The Double". I think that would make a good movie.
I am not really sure how to post a book clip, but if I knew how, I would help. I don't even know where to start...since I never have posted a video or book clip. Sorry if this reply is doubled, but I wasn't sure if I replied to you or not.
Oh, I haven't got any experience with producing any clips at all, so I can't help you ;). Maybe someday I'll try to help you to co-write one, but I can't promise, I have never realy tried my creativity ;) .
Well, have you thought about a clip for "The Idiot"?
(Hope I didn't make too much mistakes, because, you see, English isn't my native language...)
Well, I don't think you really need any previous experience in producing bookclips. It's just a matter of writing and rewriting and so on. And, after that, look for images and music.
'The Idiot' is a really good sugestion, a great book. As I see, you like Dostoevsky very much... Maybe we could promote together a kind of 'Dostoevsky Clip Festival', with clips based on his works. What do you think?
This is far from his greatest novel.

I understand: but posting is easy. If you can, I could help you. Anyway, we could change some ideas regarding the next bookclip!

I might help. I would really like to, but I really do not know where to even start. I have never posted a a video or a book clip.

I do love him too!! That's why this BookClip's here. I'm thinking about making some other BookClip based on this books: do you have any suggestion???

Yes, everybody sends clips! It seems a good way of exchanging suggestions about books.
Hope hear you soon!

My holiday(s?) have just started, so I will have a lot of free time, and I may try to help you somehow...
Well, I like Dostoevsky, even though I've read only few his works yet. I haven't read many books at all (yet ;).
And I see you're pretty enthusiastic about those clips. :)
A festival? You mean, that other people will send their clips too? That would be nice to watch.
Mlodyxxl 4 years ago
Not bad.
Any more clips for Dostoevsky's works in the future?
Mlodyxxl 4 years ago
yes!
Maybe you could help us to find the new one: what about 'The Brothers Karamazov'? That would be a challenge... Or 'Notes from Underground'...
Would you like to co-writte/produce the bookclip?
