  • Sooo good :) It reminds me of phantasy star online. I hear some metroid prime too for sure. Anyone else hear that too?

  • @alvyman89 Phantasy star universe? You mean that game where people have fake sex with eachother and pretend to sell nudes for fake gold?

  • Sooo good :) It reminds me of phantasy star online. Anyone else hear that too?

  • @alvyman89 I definitely hear Phantasy Star Online, but it also gives me some Xenosaga and Star Ocean 4 vibes for some reason.

  • fucking epicness

  • I havn't heard something so soothing to the ears since Donkey Kong Country 2!

Take a look at this masterpiece! Its a remixed version of mechonis field :)

  • I've heard this a couple times already and i get this 80's Vangelis feel every time i don't know maybe its just me. I'm buying a wii for this game

  • @kraken266 And u won't regret it dude, brace yourself for true epicness!

  • @kraken266 Vangelis' theme is what this should be called, lol. Are you Greek?

  • The moment I entered the place.. I was certain the main villain of the game would turn out to be Dr. Wily.

  • @Silioni Why did that not happen!? He must be a bonus boss somewhere in the game.

  • This was easily one of my favorites.

  • For me its sounds like a mix between Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country, reminds me of David Wise.

  • @raptor16am Ah.....David Wise.....a musical god whose presence is sorely missed in the video game industry...

  • I had to take a break playing the game, but I couldn't bear without this song, so I had to come over here.

  • Just reached this place last night. Mechonis Field. Nothing like I expected- at all! But I knew I had to hear the music again as soon as I could. I freaking love it so much.

Xenoblade has surprised me at every turn. I dare say this might be the greatest game I have ever played. I'm being serious, it's virtual perfection.

(For instance on the music front, I have yet to come across a song I didn't like.)

  • @bellboy64 Personally I can't stand the Music that plays when you change a vision tag, but otherwise all the other songs are brilliant. And yeah this game is one of my top 10

  • @jupiterofthemonkey Ughh I know right? I'm busy enjoying the unique monster music and then a vision tag appears and then stupid Reyn has to use Sword Drive on it and kills the cool music. =__=

  • @scratchnsniffpantiez Same here. I just can't bear it -_-

  • @bellboy64

The Mechonis is where all the awesome stuff happens. I'm nearly at the end of the game, I believe (Not going to spoil anything, I wouldn't do that to someone) but needless to say the story is one of the best I've immersed myself in for a long time.

  • @DragonNexus Well, I'm just at the doorstep of the final boss and nothing's changed. My opinion of this game has only grown stronger. It is just incredible. Usually a JRPG has weak moments as well as badassery but nope! ALL of it is pure badass. The English voice-cast is amazing too. Especially when I recognise one or two of them.

  • Remembers when I was trying to find that frikken unique monsters in those cylinders somewhere in the poison water area =. =

  • If you like this, check out the soundtrack to Ragnarok Online. Not all of the songs are that good but, about half of them are, and there's a lot of songs on there! :)

  • @osukabox Yes! The Ragnarok Online soundtrack contains some amazing aural works! Ancient Groover from the Payon Caves is one of my favorites, as well as the Christmas theme from Lutie! The main Prontera theme is great too. One Fine Day from the Orc Field is also extremely memorable!

  • I love Xenooblade! Some of the best gameplay, graphics, and importantly songs on any Console! I really hope (although I know they won't) that a sequel is produced for Wii U. The graphics would be so well refined and it would look even more spectacular than it already does!

  • If you havn't played Xenoblade, I feel bad for you son...

  • It reminds me of a specific mystery dugeon 2 melody. If you have played the game you know which I mean.

  • Mechonis Field is what Dr. Robotnik's stages should be looking like.

  • reminds me of Metroid

  • This starts out like donkey kong and ends up being like phantsy star online.

  • totally agree with everyone here, this song is awesome <3

(the music of combat inside mechonis field is incredible2)

  • This music remind me Donkey Kong Country ( Factory Level )

  • God, that song reminds me of Terminator. It suits so perfectly the Mekon's universe.

  • metroid & donkey kong country feeling

  • Sounds like ragnarok

  • @Beetleking22 A bit :) Nice to see a RO gamer here !

  • Fucking awesome. Best JRPG since FF7. Truly epic in every sense of the word. The Wii finally has a game that will live on in my mind and heart for decades. Well done.

  • @matthibner FF7 is most definately the most overrated game of all time XD

  • @XenonDraco you're definitely the most obvious troll of all time XD

  • @matthibner I wasn't trolling, lol. In my opinion it was not fun at all

  • @matthibner

    Cannot agree more.

I was trying to think if there was ever an RPG, J or otherwise, that immersed me so much I actually cared about the *NPCs*. I honestly can't think of one.

  • i've just posted my remix of this tune to my page :D This game has amazing music

  • I love it so much.....

  • me relaja esta cancion.......

  • For some reason, the beginning sounds like something from Metroid.

  • @Twilitblack yes or Mass effect

  • @gillri mass effect doesn't compare to this game.

  • @VashTheDark really? I prefer it by a distance, but im a huge sci-fi fan

  • It actually reminds me of the music from Jazz Jackrabbit's mechanical levels. If anyone still remembers those games.

  • @LCypher86 lol I was about to write that :D

  • @LCypher86 Hell yes.

  • Definitely one of my favorite songs in the game. Reminds me of a Donkey Kong cavern type level with, like you said, sonic undertones

  • I'm on this part of the game, i can't find anymore landmarks. The music is motivation enough for me to keep looking!

  • Probably my favorite theme played on a robotic/futuristic place in a game!

  • which other music traks are good in ths game ???????

  • @falco4377 pretty much everything.

    I'm not kidding

  • @falco4377 All...

  • This would be perfect in a Sonic game. Both the music and the level. It just sounds like something you'd hear and see in it. At least, in old Sonic.

  • The beginning sounds like the metroid other m intro.

  • @DirkOfNintendo I thought this too!

  • THIS is the kind of music we need more of in video games. Seems like with less restrictions on technology, composers are losing track of compelling and memorable melodies in favor of more grandiose scoring. This has both and that's awesome!

  • @OmnipotentBagel I couldn't have put it better myself! It's too bad that the rest of the Xenoblade soundtrack is pretty forgettable. This one track is so much better than anything else composed for Xenoblade.

  • @zenjiros So where does that leave Gaur Plain? That was pretty good IMO.

  • @Raiadrin While Guar Plan is in a technical respect a decent composition, it just does not hit that melodic sweet spot, is not at all unique, and is therefore not a memorable song for my ear. It doesn't sound like it belongs in a fantasy/sci-fi RPG game, but rather in a travel commercial for some airline, torrid zone resort, or international five-star restaurant. It also has the cliche violin-over-percussion thing that has sadly become so prevalent in Japanese games over the past many years.

  • @Raiadrin Furthermore, violin is, in my opinion, just not an instrument that should often belong in the world of fantasy genre video games. It just sounds too real-world and commonplace, as does desert percussion, and it just doesn't throw me into an ethereal otherworld. It instead hurls me into a Travel Channel or Food Network program, which is not at all what I want. Mechonis Field has a fitting sound, and thrills the ear with one of those "just right" melodies that you will remember.

  • @Raiadrin The best video game soundtracks for me (and the ones that have historically been the most highly rated) have been those that are mostly comprised of synth sounds, contain memorable melodies that are so good you will be humming them 16 years later, and that keep the inclusion of traditional instrumentation to a minimum. "Chaos Temple" from FF Origins is a great example of a composition that fits, is addictively good, and blends synth and traditional instruments perfectly.

  • @zenjiros

Your argument is a little weak. Most "best received" video game soundtracks are usually the old original chiptunes, which had no choice but sound synthesized.

I say the greatness of an OST comes all from the composers and the variety of instruments they use.

For instance, in Xenoblade, there are many composers working on the soundtrack and they are experimenting with a great variety of instruments, which makes for so many unique tracks.

I love the mechonis´ pure rock battle themes.

  • @Donkeygamers

And also the ethereal synth soundtracks like this one.

And then there are these wonderful violin masterpieces that make you cry and let you remember an emotional video game moment forever.

These are personally my favorites, and I think" thoughts to a friend" is one of my favorite pieces of music at all.

After all, many great games tell a great story; Xenoblade excels in that point, and it also excels in fitting the right music to the right moments. No need for restricting them imo

  • @Donkeygamers

Oh and then there's of course "Engage the enemy".

I think this might as well be one of the best video game soundtracks ever made.

It has everything, epic rock, synthetical mystery and powerful string-driven emotion.

And it fits the moments where it plays perfectly.

Awesome is a shallow description for that track.

  • OHHHHHHHHHHH very Metroidy begining there

  • Mixture of Kenji Yamamoto and David Wise with a spice of awesomeness

  • Reminds me a little bit of FLYFF ;)

  • This is absolutely incredible.

  • reminds me on the xenosaga tracks. :)

  • @luckyqhne Considering Monolith Soft was involved with them too it's not too surprizing. Honestly it's downright criminal for Nintendo to aquire such amazing talent as theirs, yet not publish any of their new origonal works to the US. The problem is most Americans believe that video games are nothing more than jump on the goomba, save the princess, and Monolith Soft if one of the few companies that utilize this medium for meaningful storytelling. Long live Tetsuya Takahashi!

  • 0:00 0:29 1:20 1:44 2:14 2:29 3:06 4:21 5:42 The more I listen to this song, the more I love it.

  • Almost sounds like Kenji Yamamoto's work.

  • It's sort of a mix between Chrono Trigger and Metroid.

  • @danny6290 and some blade runner rhythm

  • chrono triggers composer(yasunori mitsuda) only did one track for this game(not this), this song does contain a melody that is very similar to one used in chrono trigger though

    this games soundtrack is amazing!

  • @noocete and which track is this?

  • @BanneYetAgain

"Beyond the Sky"; the ending theme.

  • I love this music!

  • Actually, It has a sound leaning towards that old SNES RPG Brainlord, the way the composer is attached to the long held from high to low pitched synth, but it gives it the right feel. A futuristic take in a down to earth environment. The image speaks for this song in a way. Liked it on the whole, well done. Around 2:16 had a good moment after all that happened. Love that recurring beat like in the beginning, and it just comes back.

  • love it! :)

  • Reminds me of Phantasy Star Online.

  • I'd buy five copies just because of this song.

  • Remind me Chrono Trigger

  • @luckyqhne IIRC, one of the main guys who worked on Chrono has made this, so that's probably why ;D

  • @luckyqhne Remind me Phantasy Star Online

  • @luckyqhne I had the same feeling ! plus some similarities with blade runner.

  • @luckyqhne Yasunori Mitsuda had it´s way with chrono trigger music and this gorgeus game

  • @kojy Yasunori Mitsuda only composed one track in this OST, the ending theme.

  • My god, this song rocks. It has some melodies that sound very 80s, while the electronic music sounds very 90s. Of course, that's not a bad thing. What I'm hearing so far from this game, I'm seriously liking. It's been a LONG while since I've heard an RPG OST that I could say I liked EVERY SINGLE SONG of, but this one's getting there!

  • @MagnaderAlpha

Aaah the 80's sound! Glad you pointed that out. I was born in 1980, so that explains why this song has this odd nostalgic feel to it for me.

  • i agree with everthign you said, and i fuking love this tune!!!!!!!!

  • @MagnaderAlpha I totally agree with you! I haven't played games that much over the past eleven years or so, but this soundtrack makes me want to play Xenoblade Chronicles! The music in this track hits every right note, like some of the legendary game soundtracks of old used to do.... How I miss that era.

  • I feel more like metroid

  • @Zaxwu I can see that totally.

  • Maybe I'm nuts, but I feel it has a Star Fox sence to it.

  • Amazing song.
