Played it, finished it, loved every minute of it. What a great game. I see the 256 colour version looks even better, though I played in 16 colours (Atari ST).
Does it really have speeches everywhere? I started up this new version of loom through ScummVM using FM-Towns loom and i have the enhanced graphics and the nice enhanced music if you compare to the orginal that i played on amiga1200. But mine has no speech even if i press F5 button, goes to option, increases voice volume and then choose speech and subtitles. =(
My favourite Point and Click game is Ringworld. Could never get past a certain point of the game when it first came out, but I went back and played it again (like 10 years later) and finally beat it.
first you have to get and use every spell on the island, then they'll gve you the "f" note, and when you go to the tornado and double click on it, it should give you the twist spell. play it backwards and the tornado goes away
I begged my parents to get the family a computer when i was 10, with the ulterior motive of playing PC games. LOOM came pre-bundled with Monkey Island as well on our first PC. Those two games changed my life. I was hooked on PC point and click adventures ever since. They were stories that you played through, and they haven't made games like these since. I loved Loom's sound and theme. Lucasarts and Sierra rocked in the early 90's.
This version is so different than the one I played! It has actual voices to go with the text. However, there is no music! The version I had took classical ballet music and had it in every scene. I don't think I could enjoy the game without it.
If you want a CD version, your best bet is FM-TOWNS. It doesn't have a voiceover, but it does have improved graphics, CD-quality music instead of MIDI, and a few additional locations, not really changing the game, but adds a few secrets. Best version of LOOM.
i try to buy it for one mouth, i am ready to pay(!!!, its unbelievable ) for it. . . but there is no shop, where i can get it. . . i tried everything, saturn, ebay, second hand shops, friends. . . nobody can give me this game. . . i hope you can understand me, my speech is terrible. . .
i really want to find my talkie verson but i can't find where i put it (also can't find monkey's island), ohwell you beat this game about 10times faster then i got off the island hehe
anyone has got the downloaded version of this on tha latter days? i tried to make it work with ScummVM but the sounds dont work for some reason... i had the vga version without the sounds back in the 90's and i've wanted the one with the sounds..dialogue is slightly different. this is my favorite game and i'm still longing for a sequel..
One of my favorite games of all time, was given this along with a SINGLE SPEED 150k/s(!!!!) CD-Rom drive for Christmas back in 1992. It is the definitive version. The VGA refresh made a big difference - look at the depth compared to the Amiga and ealier PC editions - and the voices, though a little wooden in places, were beautifully recorded and added yet further dimension. Tchaikovsky's ingenius music - though still on synth here - was also enormously enhanced.
i had this game for the PC a while back when i was little. i used to love everything about it. the music, and especially the story. but it was too short. they should have made a sequel. the ending for this onne was kind of a cliffhanger. it gets u wondering where are they going and is chaos coming back?
Destiny will draw the lightning down from heaven. Roll its thunder far across the sea. To where I wait upon the shore of wonder. On the day the sky is opened and the tree is split asunder.
haha omg u know it from memory? i remember that part where whats her name give u that clue on the stone. dammit u just made my day by making me remember this awesome prophecy. i THANK YOU!!!!!
Nicely done, but you've lost at least 5 Seconds by Healing Goodmold. You can simply click on him, to hear his final words, and as you see, there are no magic stars whatsoever stuff, you know...
Woooooow! I haven't seen this game in a long, long time. It's real good to see it again. I remember feeling really guilty about what happened to the boy. XD
I like this version, bu it has a lot less words in it, if you have text on they say a lot more if I recall =P

loom is more a piece of art than a game. the controls with music are revolutionary.

I had a hard time in that game starting from the tornado, I was trying the combinations one by one -_- (unless they told me the right one)

*I* got to the end! It's a good ending! I wanted it to be longer though... plus mine had no sound. Stupid lack of backward compatibility!
