Rand Paul is an unelected career politician. All he has been doing is trying to be political for years. Problem is all he has wacky non practical but sound good sound bites. Typical Libertarian stuff-hate the government love the flag of the government tripe.
I personally have felt the Governor used Mongiardo to get elected anyway. It would have been impossible even with Fletcher's record for him to get elected without Dr. Dan and his East KY votes. After the election, it seems he was brushed aside. I understand why he could have those feelings. The tapes do sound edited though. Sounds to me like a way to divert East KY votes.
@BluegrassRiver - If anyone wanting Rand Paul to be senator had this recording, either inside the campaign or at the grassroots level, would they release it early in the primary? No way. They'd do whatever they could to see that Mongiardo won the Democratic primary, and then release the Mongiardo tapes after the primary to destroy the only remaining competition.
@BluegrassRiver - The tapes were leaked on a faux-Paul blog that started a week or two before the tapes were released, and nobody in the official Paul campaign or the large and well connected Rand Paul grassroots campaign knows who runs that blog, and nobody in the Paul camp had heard of these tapes prior to them hitting the news.
This is Democrat-on-Democrat mudslinging in the primary. Leave Rand Paul out of this. He's not a career politician and this is definitely not his style.

This tactic is right out of the playbook of Rand Paul, the ultra conservative Republican candidate. They are awesome at this kind of stuff.
