Well it needs to be pointed out that there can be different brands or degrees of socialism that's practiced. Brazil's socialist like Lula aren't practicing the Che,Castro or Hugo Chavez brand of socialism. Brazil has adopted many market reform policies under Lula and previous presidents.

I spoke with a guy today at school who met a man 30 years ago who witnessed Che's rape squad (one of them) rape a man's wife and daughters for hours while forcing him to watch before his eyes were dug out with a fork.
