  • I like what he says..however please don't call him king..no royalty. My name is also Oba...Obanike..it's a name, not a right.

  • God Bless My African People

  • I am in love with Oyotunji. I have seen enough film that triggered my hunger for my culture. Oyotunji appears to have wonderful priest and priestess. I yearn to learn.

  • to be honest, i am not going to hate on aa's for making the effort to know about our cultures . at least they dont say they are egyptian like most of them do . these ones are trying and not shying away from the west african cultures of their forefathers. no shame in their game then.lol!

  • Thanks for your reply excuse me if i understand correctly, yes many people have made the journey to the hily land Ile-

Ife the source and yes the king of Oyotunji is sactioned by HRM Sijuwade what you areseeing here is the firsty Oba of Oyotunji giving an audience to agroup of kids and it was captured on film. To be frank we travel to Yoruba land to learn and study.

  • I don't agree with his assessment that we don't have a culture.

  • Thanks for your comment. I belive His Majesty is saying that we have no true culture or "traditional culture" but we do have what is termed as "Black Culture" is that the culture that you are refering to?

  • i want to know have any of you made a trip to ILE-IFE that is my hometown where my family hail from ..we are from Modakeke which is the town inside ile-ife .. as you must know this is the heart of YORUBALAND and where our KING RESIDES IN HIS OFFICIAL PALACE.. its very difficult to see him but am sure he does give audience to visitors.. That is the birthplace of our culture by tradition its interesting.. i like when aa's make real efforts to get to know our cultures for a change.

  • thanks again,

we have in Oyotunji an official palace alewll.

  • Thanks for supporting the African culture!!! I'm yoruba from ogun state, nigeria and i am proud of you....

  • you have rap and hiphop.

  • Thanks for your comment,

but i cant make this out what are you trying to ask here?

    Oyotunji.

  • i was curious to know if you had actually gone there i know that kabesi does give audiences to different people who come to pay homage or study etc.. He is part of my growing up and a very kind man.. i prefer aa's like you who actually look at the cultures where their ancestors came from and want to learn something from them. pretending to be from ancient khemet has nothing to do with the real world. sorry. and i know that yorubas dont claim egyptian culture as we are not ashamed of our own...

  • @oluwalogbon58 In music we also have jazz, blues, gospel, soul/r&b, funk, swing, ragtime. We have Nina Simone, Aretha, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Art Tatum, John Coltrane and too many others to name. The music of Black people from North & South America & the Caribbean ruled 20th century music, nothing in 21st has changed that . I saw the video on Nigerian music industry, rap & r&b seems to be the top seller.

  • what oba oseijeman said is true that AFRICAN AMERICAN have no culture and have no holiday here in AMERICA. The men on red look like a real YORUBA chief

  • I'm very impressed. Thank you for remembering your roots.

  • Thank you, Oba Oseijiman. I salute you, sir.

My Oba/Baba spoke only good things of you. His name was Oba Fun Fun/Baba Fun Ke Ibae (Raul Canizares).

He passed on his Obaship to my humble self, as I was his Aremo while he was clothed with flesh.

  • my mother is karen jones my father is kory adefunmi

  • thats my Grandpa oba im miles adefunmi

  • Miles adefunmi ? who is your mother ? You saty the Oba is your grand pa ? Wow !!

  • I love this video!

So we have learned to become cultural acrobats, multiligual, and geographically seasoned, this means nothing if we do not realize that as we seek to become a global humanity there will always be facets of ourselves that allow us to bring something to the melting pot to share. What have we added to mankind's stone soup?

  • we are going to have to lern 3 thngs Humor warmth and respect .

  • The Japanese speak Japanese, The Chinese speak chinese, The Koreans speak Korean, The Polish speak Polish, but 'Africans' speak thousands of languages and have thousands of different individual cultures.

  • Thanks..

  • Point of fact... He was speaking of the Africans born here in America. SURELY, you watched the whole video to discern that we hope.

  • i am yoruba descendant, as a matter of fact nigerian and i must say i am impressed and happy for this info especially to african americans. it's high time african americans stop being ignorant and claim what belongs to them buy joining forces with africans. the jamaicans, black brazilians, bahamians have african celebrations so therefore african americans can do thesame thing thank you very much.

  • Some good points...
