What's disturbing, but good, is how true alot of the stuff the characters did is to their characters/character types and how they function in each game in terms of special moves, attacks, jumps etc. Wow, after learning more about fighting games this, though still ridiculous but great fun, makes a whole lot more sense. Also, it's sad capcom charges it's fans an additional $50 for SS4 (same with MvC), which is just a patched game with a few new characters no one wants.

MK definitely isn't as deep as SF as far as gameplay, but the atmosphere, brutality, and overall darkness of the franchise is what brings players back.

Street Fighter took the hardcore route and MK took the casual route and that's where the arguments start. Casual vs Hardcore. I believe that hardcore fighting game fans want a complex system to analyze and casuals just want to be entertained and not have to invest as much time into a game to learn how it works. Midway would of been the only one with anything to gain. Capcom would of gained nothing from lowering themselves to the level of MK. The fact that MK characters apparently almost never use their fatalities (as implied since almost nobody dies in the story line) is just another reason fatalities don't matter.
