  • Outstanding piece of music, Lalo Schifrin was tops...

  • NWA 'borrowed' this masterpiece in Approach to Danger

  • Just wow....

  • Approach the motherfucking danger!!

  • i always here this music when,im breaking the law it turns me right on esp when im stood right next to the security gaurd and he cant see me,its better when yer off yer head on sniff (coke) or if were going to collect some money from someone whos been avoiding me ava quick sniff or a pipe (rock, crack, base) then kick the fuck out of him or her for that matter i dont differentiate between the sexes..gunna ava quick pipe then listen to it again

  • a catholic preist or a nigger-the russel boy was black!

  • this is the right music, but if that is Clint Eastwood's face, he was not in Scorpio. We should be looking at Burt Lancaster.....what a great old flick. I recall watching it with my dad on his portable color set in his room and asking him a million questions about the plot (the espionage eluded me as a kid). My dad patiently explained all the subterfuge but I was still upset when Alain Delon was killed. He was the foreign hearthrob back in the day.......ah, treasured memory!

  • @MsJollycholly pffft forget your scorpio, this is dirty harry!

  • @macdaddy912 - I'm afraid you are mistaken. The picture is 'Dirty Harry's', but the music is from Scorpio. I could be wrong - but I don't think so.

  • @MsJollycholly Its definitely from Dirty Harry and on the soundtrack. Scorpio being the name of the bad guy. Dont think Schifrin did Scorpio the film. Still, its awesome nevertheless.

  • @Spikemasterdon - you are right! I know why I was mistaken. There was a movie called 'Scorpio" which I confused with the demented bad guy in 'Dirty Harry', named 'scorpio'. I just watched Dirty Harry last weekend and realized my error. You're also right that Lalo Schifrin did NOT score 'Scorpio' (burt lancaster, paul scofield, gayle hunnicutt, etc) I apologise for my errors.

  • Heath Ledger stole his joker from Andy Robinson

  • @grapeview61 ledgers joker was just so obviously silly and idiotic whereas robinsons villan was a genuine chilling psychopath

  • "In all that chaos back there, i can't remember whether i shot five or six shots. Are you feeling lucky?"

  • The drummer must be half crazy or something. He was out of mind to play at this tempo, fast, medium and slow. He got a nice pocket too. Listen to him..Sinster song

  • This dude is Bannas for real. When was this made. I know Dr. Dre used the first part of this song for NWA Approach to Danger. Raw beat

  • @TheBoodog1 1971 is when the movie came out im pretty sure

I love Approach To Danger !

  • One of the Shifrin classics, too bad quality is so bad..

  • "Do we understand each other? mmmmm" - i love Scorpio's theme. Has been a huge influence on me and the creep sounds i love

  • '' You sure you want the rest of it?! - Every penny's worth....you black son of a bitch!!'' This ones on the house...BETS!! Classic

  • whoever the 4 idiots that disliked this are tone def and major losers!!! This is an amazing composition of sounds!! Lalo Shifrin wrote one cold dark eerie piece of movie score history!!! You Tube the video of - NWA - APPROACH TO DANGER and listen to how the producerS DR. DRE AND D.J. YELLA used samples from this in the track!!!!

  • Did you see who did this? Yes Yes as god is my judge I did It was Callahan big cop works homicide Harry Callahan!

  • Mr. "Lalo Schifrin" is the father, "Danny Elfman" is the son, and "Marc Streitenfeld" is the grandson! Three (3) generations of the most brilliant composers in music cinema history! At the time this film came out '71, the "Zodiac Killer" was still terrorizing the bay area.. "Lalo" can really have you afraid in your own home. He was the MASTER.......

  • I WANT EVERY PENNY's WORTH !

  • My theme song!

  • "I changed my mind, I'm going to let her die!"

  • @alaincharnier1971 Predator talk.

  • Hank Scorpio?

  • love this drum sound

  • The odd, tribal chanting perfectly reflects Scorpio's diseased mind. One of the best themes to perhaps the best serial killer in movie history. What creeps me out about Scorpio is how he goes from a fast talking wiseass to this giggling manchild with an unquenchable bloodlust. Amazing performance.

  • my freind who i knew for 34 years looks like scorpio!

  • Gives me goosebumps :O) In a good way

  • The part that kicks in at 2:08 is genuis!!

  • It's in my contract that this is the music that gets played for whenever I walk into a room.

Believe me… You NEVER want to break the contract.

  • @MrScorpio :)

  • @MrScorpio LOL. I mean, uh, Ok, Mr Scorpio.

  • 4 punks who gave this a dislike should get blasted by Harry's .44

  • when dre was with NWA he had sample some of this beat from this > the song called " approach to danger"

  • I'd become a serial killer too if I had theme music this good. Scorpio Killer has to be one of the greatest villains of all time

  • sick...so dark and scary...my fave from him along with amytville.

  • Andy Robinson portrayed "Scorpio" in the orginal Dirty Harry Film he is the son of the legendary hollywood gangster Edward G. Robinson. And yes I would agree his portrayal of Scorpio was both errie and chilling, hard to believe that his career did not take off following this performance in 1971. Perhaps his performance was too good and he became stereotyped.

    Mikey Capp

  • while his voice is distinctive and IMO somewhat effeminate, which would keep him from getting certain roles - i suspect that it's been a careful choice for him,

given that the only lasting role he's worked was behind a lot of makeup as the cardassian tailor garak on the TV show star trek deep space nine, but he's had enough work to make a very comfortable living as it is yet live below the radar out in idyllwild.

  • I had also heard he was the son of Edward G. Robinson but according to Wikipedia, "His father was a soldier in World War II, and was killed when Robinson was three years old. " What was definitely true is that he became typecast as psycho characters. He was Rocky Dennis' doctor in Mask.

  • @mikeycapp1 HE ISNT THE SON OF E G ROBINSON...get your facts straight....

  • @mikeycapp1 You're correct about Andy being E. G. Robinson's son, but it's entirely believable that his career didn't exactly "take off." As you alluded to, he played Scorpio so convincingly that there were some in Hollywood who thought he WAS touched. Nevertheless, I've seen him in 70s TV shows such as Barnaby Jones, so, his career didn't exactly tank.

  • no death-metal,what-ever is as near as scary than this Lalo`s masterpiece :-D

  • @liimis1 try fantomas

  • scorpio is the most underrated villain ever

  • @atomichead777 I have rights!

  • 4 people dislike this video.. its the swimsuit model. the black kid. the police officer. and the buried girl

  • How can somebody listen to this? Sounds like James Bond 007

  • @Daryoosh yea isnt that great. good errie stuff this though

  • @mrrtsno i dont like it.

  • a nigger or a catholic preist!!

  • walked past loads of rooftops on the way to work earlier and i had a scorpio moment haha

  • NWA's song "Approach to Danger" samples this song.

  • well every hero needs a good villain or the story's no good..

  • Andy robinson ( Andrew.j.Robinson)-aka. Scorpio, was so good as Dirty Harry's nemesis that studio heads etc., thought that the film makers had hired a REAL psycho for the role and Andy couldnt get acting work for a while after this film, THATS how good his acting was ( and is), he really was phenominal in this film, and of course an actor from the famous method school, truely amazing!

  • @memyselfandeye3 yup...he had to change his phone number too...kept getting death threats

  • @memyselfandeye3 A couple of years after Dirty Harry, Andrew Robinson played Walter Matthau's friend in Charley Varrick, which was also directed by Don Siegel. He was in some other roles as well, but I remember him most (aside from Dirty Harry) as a Cardassian from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

  • @Northwro - he was also in hellraiser if i remember correctly??

  • Scorpio was one crazy psycho. That guy creeped me out.

  • Lalo Schifrin is one hell of a musical talent, and God bless him for his contributions to hollywood music.

  • Soundtrack Masterpiece.!!!!..builds up tension...inflickts terror...reflects exactly how scorpio´s was as an assasin: hatefull, insidious, cruel, methodical (but cowad), deceiving...twisted & psychotic; Lalo Schiffrin knows how to do it....

Matches perfectly & -like dudshe said- ,it´s sick.

  • I heard the NWA song before I saw the film. When I heard the theme during the movie I grinned, hard.

  • NWA approach to danger. sample

  • Lalo Schifrin was terrific, classic movie!

  • sounds like I heard this sample on a DJ Shadow track off Entroducing

  • Love the sounds of the drums on this.

  • @ShelterDogs me too.. was rappin over it an tryin remixes with me dj nephew to it... pow...

  • @PhflyDan1 yeah im diggin the breaks...im lookin for samples for beats and stumbled across this.

  • "Scorpio" is still out there, all rooftops in the city will be monitored, Lucky we have Inspector Callahan on the case:)

  • 1.28mins, that's some heavy duty shit man!!!

  • This movie and music makes me want to join the police force

  • i love dirty harry movies i watched them when i was a little. with all the remakes thay doing bring back dirty harry

  • Film soundtrack music at its best, the perfect accompanyment to the scene!

  • someone starts the devils motor at 1.27

  • whats the price ove fish in berlin..

  • Fucking love this tune!!!

  • EPIC FUZZ BASS.

  • love this tune!

  • @ jazzhopin. Just got that one. Well, what you say for "The Streets of San Francisco"? Perhaps that's all apart of that exploit of the Frisco/Bay area crime wave of the 60's & 70's.

  • His best, old Lalo!

  • Love this tune. Great drumming. Truly a product of it's time!

  • @randomcreatureface I've always wondered who played drums on this tune, he grooves so badass.

  • "You on the roof. Yes YOU!"

Shame the police turned up really. They ruined a really good tune.

    Seriously cool film.

  • LOL

  • Dude! Clint on the Sudden Impact poster looks like Hugh No joke!

  • Yup, you see it too, huh?

  • @Lx3IV that could work with a good script eastwood as the director would make sure that the picture be more than just a cardbord cut of the original....This would be intresting R.G.

  • And think, Builltt Dirty harry, none of these films would have existed if not for the zodiac killer.

  • Great Shit!

I was 6years old when this move came out. I was the youngest of four brothers...needless to say, I remember this theme song from way back. Thank you for posting it.

  • dj shadow named this as one of his favorite tracks- downbeat way before its time- you can see why- fucking great!

  • With no doubt, together Morricone, this is the best music written for cinema.

Both Lalo Schifrin and Ennio Morricone reached the top of their boundless artistic resources thanks to their meeting with the best cinema directors in XX Century: Sergio Leone and Donald Siegel.

Eastwood was favourite by Goddess Fortuna, having worked under both of them.

Today Hollywood has completely lost their lessons.

An art without masters is forced to die.

    And cinema is indeed dead.

    Rest In Peace.

  • It's not good if you have to rely on Million Dollars on effects sadly.

  • damn cool!

  • those drums are ill. was someone suppose to rhyme over them? lol j/k

  • Lalo Schifrin is a legend, people like him and Ennio Morricone gave a certain atmosphere to films that gave the films their intensity.

  • Triphop / downtempo of the 70s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That was good line McLarenMercedes:)

Maybe some day I will do the same thing...heavy city traffic + Scorpio theme = sound good to me:)

I wish You less traffics and...LUCK!:)

  • Thanks! You're really awesome.

  • I listened to this in my car while stuck in heavy city traffic. I hoped somebody would recognize it and feel nervous.

Incidentally there's large rooftops where I live, and I'd love to listen to this while watching people walking the streets below... hehe

    Lalo Schifrin is great

  • @McLarenMercedes nice,i like how you think

  • @McLarenMercedes LOL! I hope you're feeling better lately. What city do you live in? You know..... so I can stay out of it!

  • @mindstormsabrewin

The same town which gave birth to H&M clothing. There's your clue.

  • do you feel lucky........punk

  • 2.10 bad to bone

  • lalo.funky ass man.......drop that beat.luv that guitar riff at the end

  • i freakin love how the drummer plays here

incredible. and nwa sampled this for there song "approach to danger"

  • Schifrin was simply the best at this shit.....amazing!

  • great music

    great music

    great music

    great music

    great music

  • The Drummer is none other than the legend Bernard Purdie. he appeared on over 4000 albums, and ive listened to alot of them!... but i regard this track as his finest moment. Its almost like the Bernard concerto!

  • This is sick,i love it.

  • This is so far beyond amazing it's sick.

  • @dudushe I agree,this sound track is bad ass.

  • @dudushe sick indeed, the music for this series is nothing less then bad ass!!

  • NWA sample lol

  • Also Hardnoise - Serve Tea, Then Murder (Tube it man!).

  • Andy Robinson plays Garrak (the exiled Cardassian) from Star Trek, deep space 9 now. Just thought you might all want to know.

  • I thought he did a good job in dirty harry. He played a psycho brilliantly. He doesnt get enough credit for it

  • @rogf1 He also got typecase in similar psychotic roles unfortunately. A shame because he is a great actor. Happens all the time in Hollywood.

  • This is the best music from the film - the bit where Scorpio, en rooftop, unlocks the rifle briefcase ready to shoot the gay black men attending church.... before he gets spotted by the police chopper.

It sounds 25 years ahead of it's time.

  • 25 years later lots of people were biting off this movie ;)

  • @Haplonapper "It sounds 25 years ahead of it's time."

Actually this pretty much sounds like music from the 70's, it's just that lots of modern artists, especially overrated rappers, steal from those time periods, the 70's and 80's, so in your mind it sounds ahead of it's time...truth is that music from the 70's and 80's is thousands of times better than the crap released today.

  • i like how the theme is like how it is in his mind, really bizarre but also slick and creepy voices.

  • Go ahead.. Make my day...

  • I think this influenced Photek,too-got this on vinyl.

  • a catolic preist or a nigger!!

  • and by the way... CAN SOMEONE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE GROUP? I KNOW IT IS A SONG FROM LALO SHIFFRIN BUT I AM LOOKING FOR THE GROUP NAME. IF SOMEBODY KNOWS IT PLEASE TELL ME.

    thanks folks!

  • This was recorded by Lalo Schifrin with an orchestra gathered together to do the movie soundtrack. There isn't A GROUP.

  • thank you, but meanwhile my brother's girlfriend found it and gave me. .

  • I was looking for it since i was a juat a kid! you can not understand how much I would like to thank you for posting that enchanting song! for me it is over and over the top! the most perfect drum sound ever!

Morricone I am sorry, this time Lalo is the winner!

    AndreA from Rome, Italy.

  • I totally agree.

  • Awesome Theme.

  • check nwa approach 2 danger!

  • check Cypress hill :P

  • this is off the hook man

  • powerful, incredible music, i never heard this before!!!he's a giant.

  • This music is so groovy...

    AWESOME TO THE MAX!!

  • I'm surprised Quentin Tarantino hasn't used this in one of his movies...yet!

  • you're correct andy robinson was great. this music kicks ass.

  • Andrew really made the first dirty harry

  • This was the first and the best out of all the 'Harry' movies (with Magnum Force following closely right behind). Terrifying music - so bloody creepy..

  • So gooooood

  • Relentless, ruthless, unpredictable, fast, slow...

He hit the nail hear with this character theme.

    Groundbreaking, period.

  • One of my favorite soundtracks, definitely. As someone said below, Lalo is Argentinian, but I wouldn't describe this as "Argentinian music"...This is "real-badass-heavy-funky-awesomely-orchested-jazz".

BTW, does anybody know who plays drums on this soundtrack? It grooves so bad.

  • Andrew Robinson who played Scorpio should have won an Oscar for his brilliant performance.

  • unreal

  • so bad ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Edgy as fuck. Lalo is god

  • The soundtrack/score for 'Dirty Harry' (by Lalo Schifrin) is one of the best in film history. Thanks for posting this!

  • yes, I watched the movie yesterday on DVD only to hear the awesome music

  • very jazzy like. one of my favorite things about this movie is it's music! very mysterious.

  • gr8! i like it!!!

  • great argentinian nusic!!!

  • definitely one of my favorite movie soundtracks.

  • Anne Mary Deakin Who speaks for her?

  • I do!

  • The district attorney...If you let us.

  • Harry: Well I had some luck.

D.A.: Your lucky I'm not busting you for indictment.

    Harry: "what"

  • Lalo is the man! All his ost's are amazing, but Dirty Harry and Bullitt are the best.

  • i'll kill all your mothers! ;-)

  • that guitar riff or whatever it is that kicks in at around 1:30 - damn that's nasty. this and david shire's score to pelham 123. and maybe throw in the score from the omega man with heston. sickness.

  • yeah right! i love that sound of guitar effect too man:) typical '70:) trashy:) great job Mr. Schifrin

  • I like this version better than the other ones I have heard.

  • Which other versions..?

  • Like the one I have heard on itunes. This one seems to have more "atmosphere" to it.

  • And they think drum & bass, break beat and hip hop invented these rhythms. I'm sorry but Mr Schifrin beat them ALL to it.

A true musical genius, very inventive - I'd rank him up there with the greats of each century (Mozart, Isaac Newton, Louis Pasteur).

    Lalo, I salute you.

  • Hear hear :)
