Wow! Love this video, this is on the Ketchikan Kayaking trip with Southeast Sea Kayaks, here in Ketchikan. It is not uncommon to see the resident pods of Orcas here, right in town and often very close to the shore (it is over 100 feet deep in this video.) The whale with the large crinkled dorsal fin is a common sight here in the summer time, we call him "Crinklefin" and believe that he is the whale designated as J1, believed to be born in 1955!
no, they are like 50 feet away from the shore, it was pleanty deep it seems closer, and no this was apparently rare in this area, well that's what out guide told us
