If you thought Banelings were powerful to begin with, try them with the melee damage upgrade. I've never seen a game with a suicide unit with upgradeable damage... its insane... you can literally carpet bomb your enemies into submission, not to mention lay landmines, roll them into enemy formations & even detonate themselves to take out invisible units in lieu of a detector -- I'm sure we've all had our moments when we forget to make a spore colony, right?
Baneling Drops with +2 melee should only need 2 overlords MAX. Also, when you do baneling land mines, you want to spread them out more, so a) one scan doesnt rape your entire strat and b) you do more damage with less banelings.
Yeah, but you coulda also Dropped the Banelings on their ramp, and then guide the banelings one by one into the base, breaking everything and saving everything you can... Zerg have a tendency to over-use Banelings and then just run out of time.
One thing to keep in mind is that terran players will start to scan the creep in order to kill tumors (as the level of play increases). It's usually better to burrow those banes a decent distance outside the creep spread.
The mineral line drop is better if you put 1-2 banes in the overlord and fill up the rest with lings. After the banes, the harvesters have just 1-2 hits of life left so the lings finish them up very quickly and it is much cheaper.
@Kassidar agreed but it depends on the race you do it against, toss requires the least banelings to kill a probe but also upgrades make a big difference with the splash
you should not explode them, but unburrow them at the right time. They'll unburrow, and if they die, they'll still do damage. And the leftovers will chase down the... left overs :D
Thats a bit overkill in my opinion, 16? I find having four on each mineral line is enough to keep your army good and cripple an unsuspecting opponent. Last thing us zerg need is forcing an all in vs a weakened army. Thats the main cause of zergs loosing games with roaches.
It would have also been good to note the bonus given vs each according worker with the +2 and +3 weapons respectively. Making a +2 weapons rush B drop a very effective strat Vs. Protoss.

anybody else feel that the banelings being able to move underground in HOTS is for this?

You can do the same thing with hitting the [D] key and clicking on medivacs to drop while moving. =)

Love the videos. I agree that 16 is a bit of overkill, but the suggestion about backing them up with Zerglings is pretty effective.

16?!, thats 800minerals and 400gas, not to mention the 4 overlords that may also die
you may rather want to try 2 overlords with 6blings and 4lings (make sure to load the lings in last in both overlords)

auto-unborrow is the best. love those green landmines. zerg had weak anti air though

@ElimRem auto-unborrow isn't as effective as letting them explode instantly with 'x' though.
