My iPhone 3G's display was coming on very, very faintly this morning and wouldn't respond to my touch when I slide it to open or even slide it to turn off. Now, the screen is totally black and nothing comes on, whether I try to turn it on or off. The battery is fully charged. Could you please tell me what part I need to replace? Just the touch panel digitizer glasstop, the LCD screen assembly, or both?
great video! very easy to follow. had one issue with the small folded ribbon cable at the top inside (next to the other ribbon cables to be reconnected) when re-installing the screen back into the phone body. needed to gently fold it in so it wouldn't block the SIM card when sliding it back in.
Since every heat gun and blow dryer is different I would start with the low setting and work your way up slowly until you are able to get the touch panel off. Be careful not to melt anything. Also do not leave the heat on any one location for to long. Keep it moving around.
a couple tips, make sure you get ALL the old adhesive out, and make sure to wipe off the actual LCD when it's apart, i accidentally left a finger print on mine..d'oh
Hi there! Thanks for that video. Just fixed my iPhone with your video. I feel so good right now. If you ever come to Austria, we'll go for some beers. THX!
Is there a way to get around buying an adhesive kit Ive waited forever for the digitizer now I have to order a adhesive kit? is there some other kind of glue?
The only way to guarantee that the touch panel will stay on the frame is with the adhesive kit. When you go into the details of the Touch Panel you purchase from DirectFix(dot)com we list all the parts and tools needed and the 822-4034 is listed for the adhesive kit.
We are getting a lot of emails asking us to trouble shoot your broken screen issues. Please goto DirectFix(dot)com and on the left side of the webpage under company info > click "Advice Articles" > then read the "How To Tell if Your Broken iPhone 3G Needs a Digitizer or LCD" article
You have to use heat. The digitizer is held on with glue and heating it up will separate it and allow you to remove the old broken one. Also the replacement digitizer is Part # IP-2213 and the new adhesive kit is Part # 822-4034 at DirectFix(dot)com
As long as the image under the cracked glass looks perfect you have 2 options. Option 1 is a complete screen IP-2134 - fast install but cost more. Option 2 is the glass digitizer replacement IP-2213. Cost less but requires longer time to install and a little more skill. All parts and video directions at DirectFix(dot)com
If only the glass is broken which is also called the touch panel or digitizer goto DirectFix(dot)com and look up part number IP-2213. Read all the description before purchasing please.
this sorta saved me, apple said it would cost 400 bucks to replace my phone cuz the water sencors were red, even tho i dropped it in my toilet, it still works perfectly fine! i cant wait till my glass/digitizer arrives
hi PDAparts, i was just wondering what happened to my iPhone 3G;
