@thegmcar Quality comment dude ... please stop making me laugh. Caddis are nice, but nowhere near anything German in terms of technology, sophistication, quality and luxury. And that's a fact. And if you think differently you're either just a stupid Caddilac fanboy or a hater of German cars.
@ratmtbola or your a hater on American cars m8...Your not a engineer so don't give me the 'german engineering' story..you bought into the pitch line :)... The 5 series or A6 is not in the same class as the CTS
@ratmtbola wow really not according to comsumer digest, don't believe do some research, bmw finish almost dead last in customer satisfaction and they are costly when they begin to break down, audi, omg please stay away from them, that's all i got to say about them
@The2001OldsAurora Name one 'luxury feature' the Seville STS introduced that no one else had at that time. I'm waiting. Because as far as I remember, the Seville STS was a huge pile of shit.
I had a 09 Cadillac cts... But wrecked it. It had sooo much power. More than you will ever need. The looks are great and the technology is super. I definitely miss my caddi.
When it comes to luxury sedans, BMW has the best performance, Mercedes has the best badge and interior comfort, Audi is the most capable in adverse weather conditions, Acura is the most reliable, and Lexus has the lowest cost of ownership due to its high resale value. Cadillac is the jack-of-all trades, it's decent in all categories, but doesn't really stand out in any one area. I don't see Cadillac returning to days of glory unless it can beat the competition in at least 1 category.
@janmaomuriano too similar and the repair costs are too much to make it worth it. i love audi but man do they make a dent in the wallet. ill stick with american for now until i win the lotto ;D
@Mark37251 way more reliable than audi, bmw, and merc....... ask your local mechanics. and ive had three bmws. they all had major probs within the first 3 years. thats why i will nvr buy the so called german engineering ever again.
@VolGreg my family has always had audi's and mercede's and they have proved to be very good cars. my grandfather still has an 82 turbodiesel (forget the exact model) that still runs strong with 330k miles. I bought an 06 CTS 3.6L a few months ago and so far it's been great but there are tons of other 3.6L CTS's that are having serious timing chain failures at very low mileage (25k was the lowest!). I guess any car will have it's issues but I will ALWAYS buy American.
@Mark37251 Oh don't get me wrong I think the audi, bmw, and merc are beautiful cars just in my case i havent had very good luck with them :(. but like you said each and every car has there own faults nothings perfect just through the years ive had a litttle better luck american brands.
@VolGreg yeah i hear ya. best thing about American cars is they are tons simpler and usually not overdone with plastic. This makes them easier to work on yourself. I do all my own work when I can and it pays off in the end.
@Mark37251 I wish I could say the same. im really good and love detailing but i dunno the first thing about engines lol. but i agree with you americans brands are usually easier and cheaper if something does go wrong. i didn't mean to come off biased toward american brands but after owning the beamers it just kinda ruined their rep for me. don't get me wrong though i think merc and bmw's have some of the prettiest cars on the road. my secret obsession are vettes though. i love them. lol
@VolGreg how could you not love a vette! the only fail years are the 80s and 90s vettes... So ugly. but my favorite years are the 56, 67, and the newest z06's. i plan to trade my cts to either a CTS-V or a vette in the near future. i miss my v8 :(
@Mark37251 well either way you can't go wrong. i would give anything for the new cts-v coupe or the new z06 with the z07 package but cant afford to get a new one lol :( thanks to the economy. i do have an 05 vette with the ls2 and its still really quick to have the old engine in it. it was used with 5k on it and very clean so i couldnt pass it up lol. i gotta agree with you on the 80s n 90s models. my father had a 78 and 96. they were really quick for that era, but really no styling.
@VolGreg Yeah I hear ya. I would probably be buying used also depending on what I can find. And yeah they always kept the power in the vettes through those years but the looks just weren't there. overall the 80's and 90's were just a rough time for cars anyway but the american muscle is what really took a dive into the ugly pool. mustangs came out like econo-boxes. camaros came out looking slapped together with poorly made sheet metal. really the monte carlos were the only exception lol.
The MKZ is a Ford Fusion with new front and rear ends. It's also FWD. If you can get a RWD Cadillac that looks and drives 100X better than a Lincoln (while getting the same Fuel economy) why would you even consider the MKZ? :D
Fastest luxury sedan, and they don't break the bank either.... man that would be sweet, but I'm breaking the bank with a CTS or STS whatever I go with...
@janmaomuriano, maybe if I could afford a V lol.... don't really need the additional power though, and honestly I like the grill on the normal CTS/CTS coupes a whole lot better.
Standard features include air conditioning w/dual-zone climate controls, tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio and climate controls, cruise control, and 8-way power driver seat.
Options include leather upholstery, heated 10-way power front seats, memory system, navigation system, premium sound system, universal garage door opener, power sunroof, heated/cooled front seats, and heated steering wheel.
I love the car, even without the options. It's sporty and luxurious.
Just remember that my Consumer Guide book refers to the following cars as "Midsize luxury sedan": Audi A6, Cadillac CTS, Lexus ES, Lexus GS, BMW 5-Series, Lincoln MKZ, Acura TL, Acura RL, Infiniti G, Infiniti M, Jaguar XF, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Compact luxury cars are the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Lexus IS, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
My bottom line: The CTS is slightly more upscale and slightly roomier than compact sedans including the Audi A4 and 3-Series. It indeed IS a midsize sedan.
ya, so all midsize luxury vehicles are supposed to compete with CTS eh. This is why I say you know nothing about cars. I bet you don't even know what FWD and RWD are.
rofl I never asked you to just tell me what fwd and rwd are, if you do not even know the actual difference between them, then obviously a fool like you would think all mid size cars are all the same cars.
And obviously that is why you believe CTS competes with cars like ES. Seriously idiots like you who know nothing about cars make me laugh.
ok you're partially right. now i realize that i was wrong to compare the cadillac cts with the lexus es. the cts is sportier, while the lexus es is more for comfort. but i want you to understand that the cadillac cts and lexus es are in the same category - midsize luxury cars. and they have similar pricing. they're somewhat similar cars, but you're right, they're not competitors.
but to not compare the audi a6 and bmw 5-series would be foolish. you must admit that THOSE two cars compete.
oh definitely. I would say 5 series and A6 are on the same category because they definitely are against each other.
And I'm glad you understood it, and I thank you for that. If it is just about being mid-size, well, then, I can't say anything about that one, cuz ya, they both definitely are the mid-size cars.
just curious, what differences do you discover between the cadillac cts and lexus es? i understand that the cts has a sportier background, while the lexus is more for comfort. i know that they are both pretty upscale/luxurious cars.
That's exactly about it. CTS is rear wheel drive, which makes it pretty a sporty mid size sedan, when ES is just a rebadged Camry with front wheel drive system. RWD is traditionally for those sporty cars.
And just like there is IS-F, Lexus is thinking F models for GS, and also for LS(!!) later on apparently, but still no info for ES. But I'm sure Lexus won't make one for ES...because there is no point, it's just a Buick killer.
Nope. The 5 series and E-Class are more upscale, sportier, and significantly higher priced than the CTS. You need to understand your facts before you rudely present false information. The Acura TL, Infiniti G, Lincoln MKZ, and Lexus ES350 are all priced very similarly to the Cadillac CTS, and all five cars have very similar dimensions. The Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3-series, Audi A4, and Lexus IS have similar pricing but smaller dimensions.
Okay, I am saying again, get the shit right, bud. Just because CTS was priced similar to cars like MKZ, ES and all these doesn't mean the car actually competes with those cars. If you read magazines like Buyer's guide, CTS actually competes with cars like Audi A4, BMW 335i and Lexus GS350.
Next time, try to get the right info first, and then talk.
After reading the first sentence of your comment, I chose not to read any more of your comment. Then I later decided to read the rest of what you had to say. I'm not interested in talking with you if you can't get your facts straight. What's true is actually the converse of what you said. You said "Just because the CTS was priced to cars like the MKZ, ES"..."CTS actually competes with cars like Audi A4". Actually, it's the other way around. Again, get your facts right.
You really are stubborn child, aren't you? I know that you were trying to act like some know-it-all smartipants, but successfully failed to do so. Do you know a car called Cadillac DTS? This is the one that competes with Buick Lucerne, Lincoln Town Car and Toyota Avalon. And also, to prove that, it does not have V series.
Seriously, before act like a smartipants, get the facts right first, got it kid?
I am 28 years old, and I have a predilection toward cars (as you have probably already deduced).
The Cadillac DTS does not compete with the Toyota Avalon. The Avalon is a regular full-size sedan while the DTS is a luxury sedan. Same goes for the Buick Lucerne. The DTS' only competitor is really the Lincoln Town Car, and maybe even the Volvo S80.
It's one thing to not know too much about cars, though it's another thing to be defiant that you do not know too much about cars.
Oh wow, so you are saying you are a lot more into cars than this magazine I read. Even I was in DTS and the quality itself is sufficient to compete with Avalon and Lucerne.
Seriously, I can see that you are desperate to act like you know something but let me tell you, you are just a fucking tool without a single car knowledge. Just because Avalon is Toyota doesn't mean it is NOT luxury, okay kid?
The Avalon Limited, at best, is an entry luxury sedan, but in the end it really is just a full-size sedan, a very nice one at that. Yes, like the Lucerne, they do try to reach higher than the average big sedan, but that doesn't mean they actually are. So no, I would say the DTS does NOT compete with the Avalon. For GM, the Lucerne does.
Before you RUDELY contest his statements any longer, I'd like to point out you both are only half right.
The CTS competes with the bottom-shelf 5, E, and GS in size, but it's not a vehicle that is cross-shopped because of the price difference. As far as size and price, the CTS DOES compete more with the TL, CC, or ES. The buyer of the CTS wanted something in their price range but sporty like a 3-Series, yet doesn't want a small car, nor can afford the upgrade 5, E, or M.
Like I said, I was not talking about the price. I was talking about the car itself, and what kind of cars CTS is really against in terms of technologies. And honestly, I have never seen anyone comparing CTS to cars like TL or ES when they are choosing a car.
In size yes, in technology ... ehhh. Those more expensive products easily have more technology items -especially inside- that the Cadillac doesn't offer, and they SHOULD considering they're much more expensive.
The CTS is pretty much in a class of its own, really. I don't see potential buyers truly looking at anything else; they tend to want this and only this. I understand that. It's a fabulous car, one I almost bought five months ago.
First of all, he said CTS competes with cars like ES. You get it? Lexus ES, the rebadged Camry which is a complete joke. At least CTS is more of a sporty sedan when ES is more like a Buick competitor.

Do you see the point I am making here?
