Talking like they are "commercial" because they play more rock than their older music is like saying their new ideas aren't good enough to be considered any different. this is one of LC's most important earlier progressive works - it shows the sheer range of her voice, so experimental, the guitar work & the whole band work so beautifully well together.... makes commercial music sound so bland & awful in comparison.

I really didn't like "Shallow Life". It didn't sound like Lacuna Coil to me. I miss what they sounded like on "In A Reverie" and "Unleashed Memories".

@Sanctuary656 No, I listen to some metal. I just don't like what LC sounds like now. Like I said, I really enjoyed listening to their first four albums because it sounded different, unique. Shallow Life seemed like a complete departure from their old style, something I really didn't care to listen to.

Yeah..I do to, there music was more atmospheric and full of melancholy back then. Bands not from the states are best at that...and the male vocalist shine more on the earlier work.

I think Andrea shouts a lot more on the recent stuff..which is not pleasant to the ears and live his voice isnt so good,I think in America female fronted bands like evanescence are more polished and shiny where are European bands have an edge to them.

I think thats a bit partial, go listen to Urn (us) Ephemeral Sun and Symphony X, they have some edge and there are some fine edged European bands too like Eyes of Eden or Rhapsody of Fire.
