  • CO2 from burning fossil fuels is about 180 times that of volcanic activity on a yearly basis. *laughter*

  • @mutatron actually, the eruption in Iceland put out as much pollution (maybe not all C02, but definately pollution) than all of the world combined in the past 100 years. remember, C02 is NOT the only pollution.

  • Well maybe when global warming deniers figure out how to create anti-volcano technology, then we can work on fixing this supposed problem.

  • holy shit

  • I'm just saying, we've got huge volcanoes, a giant sun radiating us, meanwhile, some tiny trace gas that's precious to plants is being listed as a chemical weapon.

  • This tiny trace gas isn't limited to the first layer of our atmosphere, and what's alarming about that is the CO2 molecule's ability adsorb solar heat, and radiate it back down to us. This is called the greenhouse effect. In this way, it's not only the flora of this planet that depend on Co2, it's everything. Without Co2 we wouldn't have life.

The problem is, we are putting far too much into our atmosphere. The planet has ways to absorb it, but we're putting out more than is being absorbed.

  • For instance, our ocean absorbs 2 billion TONS of Co2 a year. Studies have found that adding lime to sea water doubles it's ability to absorb Co2. There are steps we can take to counter Co2, but the most dramatic effect will come from reducing our CO2 output.

I'm not saying this carbon tax they're pushing is the correct way to go, but we DO need to start taking steps to reduce our Co2 output.

  • I've heard that volcanoes emit about 10x the amount of CO2 put into the air by humans. And that algae produces about 100x the amount volcanoes do.

  • Yeah, lots of people hear that, but it's wrong. The proven fact is volcanoes only emit about 1/150th of the Co2 we emit.

Believe it or not, a lot of very evil people spread blatant lies like these because they profit greatly from the confusion and misinformation.

  • Yeah, like Al Gore and Maurice Strong. And the Fortune 100 companies who have billions invested in the carbon futures market.

  • They just know what 97% of all climatologists know: anthropogenic global warming is real and is happening now.

Investors in oil know something also: People are naive and can be very easily manipulated.

  • Are you serious, buddy? Show me one piece of credible evidence that suggests climate change is a) man-made and b) unprecedented. 97% of all climatologists? The only one who is naive here is you, who buys into this fraudulent climate change hype. Do you know how many millions of people can't afford to eat because a third of the corn grown in the US is now converted into biofuel? Do you know how many more millions are going to die when the UN decides to control energy resources worldwide? Wake up

  • My 97% figure stems from here: gallup(.)com/poll/1615/Environ ment(.)aspx

    giss(.)nasa(.)gov/

    ncdc(.)noaa(.)gov/oa/climate/globalwarming(.)html

If being able to buy a can of corn makes or breaks your family's dinner, then it's time to apply for food stamps.

  • The information is out there. For the longest time, I thought agw was horse shit. I used to show all the places I got my info and everything. I even used to think volcanoes put out more co2 than man. The volcano lie was actually the first thing that started to open my eyes.

Trust me. There's a reason why the likes of lord monckton won't debate credible climatologist who know their info. Someone like lord monckton knows how to lie and that's it. He's a conman.

  • This is not supposed to be personal, but you are horse shit. Lie? The only ones who know how to lie is the CRU of East Anglia, the pentagon of climate research for the UN. The ones who have been caught "green handed" for manipulating and deleting data so that their results can't be tested by the scientific comm\unity. Like I said, SHOW ME ONE PIECE OF CREDIBLE EVIDENCE THAT SUGGEST HUMANS ARE RESPONSIBLE for bringing about the destruction of humanity, PLEASE.

  • Why is it deniers always resort to ad hominem to prove their point? Face it: People like you go out of their way to ignore blatant obvious and provable facts because of convenience. You ignore what's happening because it's easy.

Did you even visit the links I provided?

It used to be the debate was whether or climate was getting warmer. Now the debate is if man is causing it. Will someday the debate be if we can reverse it? People like you are obstructionists.

I'll PM you with more links

  • @HoFoShAo Read the book 'Endgame' Doesn't get anymore provable than that. An easier action in nonaction - just go back to sleep, Everything is just fine! Yes, the data was compromised (they had their own agenda, but there are still some very real immediate issues that will be the death of this planet.

  • god forbid maybe this is contributing to the warming of the oceans...

certainly it can't be caused by nature...

    lol

  • lol mansbridge fancies himself a regular wolf blitzer wih his new standing studio set. is there anything canadians have not "borrowed" from the united states? does the word creativity mean anything to canadians?

  • Hey.. We're creative.. We have Canadian Idol... Are you Smarter than a Canadian 5th Grader.. So you think you can Dance Canada.. Canada's Top Model... Creative, ya know.

  • This will be on Al Gore's next slide show.

  • LOL!

  • This is amazing, and this lady's and gentlemen is how new Islands are formed which then turn into Continents :)

  • I don't think that's how it works. I mean, I'm pretty sure they're always considered islands and never graduate to continents.

  • Thats how it started millions of years ago, look at Hawaii for example, give it a million years and that Island will be a whole lot bigger. By the way that is how it works because its been observed and can be concluded.

  • What? No. Hawaii will never be a continent. In fact, the main islands will sink back into the sea before it expands. You see, the crust is moving over a hot spot, which is why you get a string of islands. The island currently forming now will eventually stop, and a new one will start.

There's a reason Greenland is considered "the worlds largest island" and not a continent.

  • That's almost half a mile deep!!!

  • Way cool! I wonder what the temperature diferential is between the water and the lava and how much warmer that water gets relative to the unaffected water.
