What the hell is the point of using skype on your phone if there is no video chat!? lmfaoo....it seems pointless to me...just make a regular damn phone call on your phone..Lol...anyways skype needs to step up there game and provide us people with android phones an actual skype app that will let us video chat! -__-'
@lilvato10 Several reasons, actually...The calls don't use your "anytime" minutes...It allows for free international calling (voip)...Skype isn't releasing video capability until there are phone that would benefit from it...Why would they have an app that allow video chat if there are only a couple phones that have front cameras (only released within last couple months)?People would be looking at the back of their phones while the other side would be looking at the back of their phone...
Skype has been giving me problems for a while, so I'm not surprised that it isn't working on the phone. Even on my computer, messages don't get received, the voicemail doesnt work at all times. Skype is a great service, but they should really fix the problems they have now instead of trying to do too much.
I just bought an HTC AT&T Surround WIndows Phone 7 for Black Fiday. But it says that Skype doesn't support WP anymore. Is that true? And is there any other way I could get Skype Mobile?
Gotta question... i love skype... been using it for my main home phone going on 5 years... however, on the Droid HTC Inc I am a bit frustrated... maybe i'm slow but is there a way to find a skype contact in my list WITHOUT scrolling? so far I cannot figure out how to 'jump' to a person like the desktop version... i have a ton of contacts and phone numbers in my skype account and it would take me over 2 mins to just scroll down (if it is an 'S' name etc) where's the search by voice or other way
like ya vidoe. on the computer u can get all those emotions like smiling faces and stuff when chatting, do u know how to get those emotions on skype using droid x
@Kyodaikuma Well, thanks for your opinion I guess. Apple being a dictatorship doesn't have anything to do with my MacBook Pro... It would have something to do with whether or not I own an iPhone. Which is clearly why I like Android. Apple doesn't hold me back with my Mac. And it's been great. Not a single problem. Ever. I'd be curious to what you base your statement on, other than Apple being a dicatorship. The MacBook itself is wonderful.
i tried using skype on my droid and then i connected it to my wireless in my house, instead of the 3G network thing. now whenever i try to get back on it wont allow me to use the wireless, just the 3G network, saying i need to turn off the wi fi. kinda lame. i was hoping to use skype to talk to people and look at them but i so far i havent seen any videos of anyone doing that so i guess you cant do that either. lame, again.
Why? Because Verizon thinks Skype may be a lot bigger than it already is in the future, and having Skype exclusive to Verizon Droids will increase sales on their end.
It was a business decision on Verizons part to buy Skype into a contract with them. Much like how The iPhone is exclusive to AT&T....otherwise AT&T may have went extinct in the Wireless market if the iPhone ever made it to Verizon or Sprint. lol
I have a Nexus One on AT&T, and love the phone just as much w/o Skype
WOW! Great news. Found this out a while ago but couldnt get to a computer until now.
As of 8PM EST October 5, 2010, Skype is now available on all Android phones...lol, The biggest coincidence ever.
My guess is it may have something to do with some sort of deal or venture both Facebook and Skype may undergo that really requires Skype on all Smart Phones rather than just Verizon Droids and iPhones. lol
@Kennye12345 well, i stay connect 24/7 on msn and skype with mine and people from offices can callme via ip and i dont pay a dime for it (using my 3g plan, witch is very cheap here, about US$ 15 for 2 giga per month)
Crystal clear picture! What type of camera are you using? Thanks! I look forward to the 2.1 update that's being delivered OTA. I hope that eventually Flash 10.1 can be downloaded for true flash capability. Peace. :-)
@natieya - Thanks! The camera I used was Sony's latest point-and-shoot - the H55. Nothing real fancy, but it does a nice job. And as for Android 2.1 OTA - it should be out to all subscribers by the end of the week. At least that's what I hear. Mine is a custom ROM setup and designed with my own preferences, so I have OTA updates disabled.. so I won't even see Verizon's official update. But I hope you get it soon! You'll love all the new improvements.
@yakuzahi - Rooting the phone allows installation of any ROM you want. I can run 2.0.1 or 2.1. I can run the HTC Desire ROM or the Nexus One ROM exactly as they are designed and implemented for those phones. Or I can make my own and customize it, which is essentially what I've done. It's based on Android 2.1 with several tweaks. Not hard to do, just takes some time and patience.
@mikesz06vette Thanks for the info, Plz one more question about the Skype for the droid.
I want to know if the skype stay open all the time and i can get calls from any other ppl using skype even if skype is closed or not working in the background?
Yeah, didn't realize that was the problem until later. Thought I'd still be able to use GV... not a fan of Skype since it can't work with GV, can't use Skype In number, etc. Since all my outgoing calls are unlimited using GV (and my friends and family), there's really no point anyway. I don't know THAT many people that have Skype anyway.
omg is this the nexus? :o

Make free outgoing/incoming calls on any android device, without using Gizmo 5/Sipsorcery/Evan Charlton's GV app.
Gizmo5 subscriptions are closed, Sipsorcery is not giving new accounts, Here is the FIX. No Gizmo5, No Sipsorcery.
