I just bought new strings for my guitar and I think that if I left that generous an amount of string after the tuning peg, I think I'd cry when I tune my guitar.
nevertheless, it's great that some people are nice enough to post up tutorials :-)
Hey, great job. You really helped me out, and your method was a lot simpler than others. So many people think that wrapping it around once before putting it in the loop or tying some kind of knot is better... but in the end of the day, if you can just put it in, kink it, and get at least 2 wraps the strings are going to last you a good 3-6 months. The last video I watched the guy had some cockamamie way of getting it into the tuner, it put a bad kink in my string, watching this saved me a string
Then how are you ever going to clean and preserve your fretboard? It doesn't really do anything to your guitar if you take the strings off. Me and my father have been doing it to his martin he got in the early 80s... still sounds beautiful, still has perfect intonation, PLUS it has a perfectly clean fret board.
so because my strings were breaking alot i decided to do it very secure and precise now the fucking strings broke when i was changing them, there wasn't even any tension on them
Dude your either tuning it way too high (making the strings too tight) or they're used...OR these are just some terrible strings! :)
I'd suggest going to a music store...pay them the $20 or whatever for them to do it...and stay there and watch them. Tell them to go slow enough so you can learn.
@facayou289 you might think of purchasing some new pegs, or maybe just pressing them harder into the body. Don't press too hard though, we don't want any damage to the guitar.
If all else fails, I'm sure there is a local shop or guitar center that you can ask.
hey! i bought new strings for my guitar and when i stretch it down to the tuning machines from the bridge pin, it's too long! 5-6 inches longer than the guitar. just like yours. should i cut the excess? or should i just leave it there? pls help me!
after you get them tightened i would play it for a few days until they get good and stretched, then clip the ends off with wire clippers or whatever you have
thanks i just got my first guitar yesterday and me low e string broke and my sister tried to fix it and took the string out of the guitar and put it back in but it's totally messed up. i am so blown!!!!!!!!!!
duuuuuuude, your not suppose to have all your strings off. Your leaving a lot of stress off the neck which means you action can be fucked and it'll sound like shiiit!! You have to change strings 1 by 1.
Um...where's your slack, pal?? You'll break strings indeed! I recommend Justin Sandercoe's lesson...it's great..along with Podium music...they both give videos for changing strings.
thanks;D

littlemeisei 8 months ago
Best way to keep tension balanced is to change the strings one by one. Do not take them all out at once shown in this vid.
itchyfingers89 2 years ago
that's honestly the simplest way of putting the strings in the peg I've found yet - thank you!

ask your local guitar center you probably bought around .11 gauge strings wich are really thin or you just bought a really bad brand of strings
