@mickd1337 the rules of backstroke don't say anywhere that you'd get disqualified for doing that. It states that you actually CAN do it. I don't think "most of those swimmers" would be able to do it as fast as he did it.

The rule is 15M from the start line and after turning point.
But these are the rules of FINA, if this race is none international
and just school fun race, rule may not be in the rule book.
They banned it because Japanese dudes started to own Olympics with
underwater swim. less water friction cuz smaller body, but still has
same lung size. so the decided to ban it.

that dude moves FAST! I could never do a full underwater long course even when I was still in a club.
Still, why do that if you're going to get dq'ed? I mean if he'd popped up halfway he'd still have won, but I guess that wasn't the point.
