  • i'm doing a research about piezoelectricity and i would like to present the same experience as yours to a jury so please can you tell me where i can find the pzt material ?

  • Why only use smaller piezo crystals, why not larger? to get more electricity? and what does current depend on?

  • sir this mechanism i want.....

  • the lights are florescent tubes with really high impedance, probably in the Gohm range, so it really doesn't take much current to ionize the gas in the tubes.

  • Actually they are christmas lights. A ignighter from a lighter or grill will only produce Milli volts witch cannot produce enough energy to floresent on the otherside you would need a transfomer and ballast to light a floresent tube.

  • lighter igniters ? what do you think your seeing here ? i see a series of lamps ....

  • Intriguing..

  • The small black thing is a PZT material. It generates electrical field when it undergoes mechanical stress. So when the conducting foil hits it, the electrical field creates current in the circuit and lighting as a result.

    That should be right.

  • is pzt more efficient than quartz?

  • quartz is a pzt material

  • Quartz is a material and PZT another, PZT stands for Lead Zirconate Titanate. Quartz is basicaly SiO2 (purified, crystalised sand)

  • Yes

  • what did you use
