  • Love it

  • This is a true black film maker. Much respect to Sam Greenlee. FUCK INTEGRATION!!!

  • REAL TALK.RESPECT!!!

  • Great..

  • As a filmmaker I agree and I disagree on some points.

  • "Once upon a time they owned slaves, now they rent them". If that don't prick your conscience nothing will.

  • Why r they giving this movie away for free on google movies make them take it down & pay you for the 4 years they've had it up there. They just violate our rights left and right

  • Powerful!!

  • "And if I never make another film - look at the film I made" -Sam Greenlee

  • independent filming..love it

  • I agree! Love that revolutionary spirit...

  • Its your choice.

  • I'm inspired, motivated and feel so hopeful now.

  • I wonder where his family is from?? My family are Greenlees from Franklinton NC. Cool!!

  • "if someone gave me a million dollars i wouldn't make 1 film i'd make 3" - REAL TALK!

  • in response to the neg givers in no way am i discounting this brothers work. i have written and worked for numerous indie projects. and i know what can be done with a volunteer crew and a non existent budget. Spook was one of the best films by black writer/directors along with Killer of Sheep and Chameleon Street but the diff is the last two had budgets of about 1.5 mill respectively. These days we can shoot on digital and use the power of ppl who will work for free to create a film

  • I like this dude and I read his book, after watching this interview though, it feels bittersweet. Years ago when I was about 16 or so (I'm 19 now) I was at Kennedy King College. Sam Greenlee (I later found out who it is) came up to me and the man in charge of my community center, I don't remember if he was selling copies of the DVD or talking, but it sucks to know he probably looked at me thinking I would grow into somebody that will always be the same, a white person.

  • it does suck. he's a relic from the old revolutionary days.

  • @platypusrex256 RELIC? he's a historical figure...he has a voice... and to quell his voice and prevent him from expressing his view..is indeed conterproductive..He is an artist...not a politician..by the this film did not have the effects nor absurd depictions that the film "Birth of a Nation" had!

  • Sam Greenlee speaks the truth, if you want to be a real black artist it's better to be free than a "Rich Ho" to Hollywood. All the modern "crossover" culture would rather be loved by whites than have a strong black music and media culture. It's eating crumbs from their tables.

  • that was interesting about 'we ought to bake our own bread'

but i think it is a bit pretentious of him to label people like f gary for making films for general audiences. it is counter productive to any movement of equality if they segregate themselves.

  • Wow. Very powerful man. I love his words.Future filmmaker.I don't need hollywood to have a voice

  • if you want to be a rich ho go to hollywood. Word Up!!

  • True. Thanks for the FYI J.

  • seems like a nice guy

  • We need to get together and make a film also I'm a Music Producer and Editor and have my own HD Cam

  • IM DOWN AND I HAVE RESOURCES....

  • Excellent conversation with Bro Sam Greenlee, job well done.

  • This brotha is on time with everything he says.

  • This gentleman brings to light a topic that is near and dear to me. The evolution of black people in America. Wouldn't that be a great film?

  • hollywood doesn't give a shit about us, so we should work together and create film and tv under our own studio. black folks spend 700 billion making white folks rich, i think it time to make ourselves rich. it is time to build our own black america, fuck anyone who thinks that's racist.

  • Anyone want to meet with me to discuss this process futher my name is Steployd 310.424.5081 is my office number. 340 E. Jefferson just south of downtown los angeles. if we don't do it on our own, it won't happen. CALL ME let's do something. ONLY IF YOU R SERIOUS!!

  • @steployd are you still available? I'm replying to a message that is 2 years old

but i certainly agree with you on this,, thats why i start my own,

  • @steployd i no u posted this messege 3 years ago.but i feel u on building our own black america, Im with it if u still with it.

  • @nazd

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I viewed this a couple of months ago as a bonus in the Spook Who Sat By the Door 25th DVD. Mr. Greenlee speaks the truth. It is a shame he blazed a path and those who followed him ignored it. When will those whiny black filmmakers ever learn?

  • Real Talk, Dang I would love to sit and talk to that brother...

  • I like how this guy thinks.
