  • After a long day at work, I've just sat down and relaxed watching this video :)

I had tried to learn about Hopf algebras from Wikipedia, and got puzzled. Having seen this video, things started to make more sense now.

  • Just wanted to say that I appreciate the(se) video(s), thanks!

  • Outstanding Introduction! I've always viewed category theory with a bit of suspicion. Fancy abstraction at the cost of concrete understanding. A lot like like those who claim to understand the tensor product from the universal property (but can't take the tensor of two specific 2x2 matrices!) These lectures are concise, clear, and very helpful. The speaker is especially excellent.

  • The universal property of tensor products is just so much clearer than the quotient module explanation... (And yes I can take the tensor product of matrices, though I don't see why you would want to anyway :p)

  • Well it's horses for courses. Sometimes the universal description is good, sometimes the quotient description is good. They are both aspects of the tensor product on vector spaces. You really should aim to understand both of them.
