  • who recorded this video and can die is peace.

  • These guys are so f*cking awesome!!!!! Going to see them tonight in Rotterdam!!!!!!!!

  • <3 it!!!!

  • its live,...its always different live.

  • RUSH!!! A cult band which I"m a proud member there of... Rock on RUSH

  • what kind of hat does neil wear?

  • I don't think so. You can tell in Geddy's voice that it's like being played back slower.

  • The playback of this song is too slow. Something was wrong during recording....

  • @cbw201 i think they just played it slower cuz its live

  • @cbw201 They typically play some of their songs a bit slower live than the original album versions, especially the older songs. Sounds fine to me. I have the Snakes & Arrows DVD, the speed is about the same on there.

  • Drummer cam my ass...Should call it the WOOOOOO cam. That was all I could hear. Oh, lets add the title HEADCAM, because that was all I could see....>Drummercam FAIL!

  • @jimmymac63 Did you expect him to just hop up on stage, and shoot action shots of Neil while rotating around his drum kit? I mean, that would be fantastic, unique, a bunch of really great things. Maybe he could have interrupted the band so he could ask people to be quiet at the rock concert so he could make sure idiots like you didnt have anything ignorant to say when he uploaded this video to youtube. Sigh, why didnt he think of these things. Enjoy the upload or cry less.

  • @TemplesofLamneth2112 I will give you this, that was a nice rant....buuuuttt....My original comment still stands. Sorry, your prose swayed my opinion not one iota!

  • niels inreality an otopus!!!

  • Jeez! Neil's drum tech, Lorne Wheaton, is getting HUGE! Check him out at 1:59! He's probably eating a triple-decker turkey club sandwich while Neil's sweatin' his ass off behind the drums!

  • The song is good indeed but it's also about the meaning of the song.

  • @seganerd89

    "The medium is the message."

  • Holy Crap this cat can play. I get tired of hearing, 'oh Peart can't swing - he's to mechanical, plays with no feeling...' blah blah blah. Appels and oranges. Peart is masterful in his way, dudes like Porcaro were masterful in theirs.

Peart is hands down one the greatest rock drummers ever. THE best? Who cares? Enjoy what he does.

  • @nitedrive THANK YOU for saying exactly what I've been thinking!!! GO NEIL!!!

  • Makes the hair on my arms stand up.

  • Rock ON!!!

  • Great job! The sound is pretty good too!

  • You have an itch or something at 1:40?

  • jesus christ... every neil peart video i watch there is a "who is better" argument going on. why cant anyone just enjoy the music? you all sound like a bunch of kids.

  • @gumbalooza it aint easy bein cheesy ; )

  • GaryxBen and Babybluesnowden. You two are morons. ALthough I love Peart and he's my favorite, I would never say HE'S THE BEST. Who cares? Enjoy the music man. YouTube had become loaded with morons. HE'S THE BEST. NO, THIS GUY IS THE BEST. Who cares. It's there to enjoy. I love all the drummers you two mentioned. I would never call them the best. I only comment when I hear people make comments like this.

  • This is sweet! Thanks for posting it!

  • there should be more videos like this, i could watch him drum all day :D

  • I'll tell ya, I was at the Forum in '82' Moving Pictures with a much better shot of Neil than this and you gotta be kidding me. He's every bit as fast, as strong, and right on now. And you know this cause Getty just shakes his head at the end of the jam as if to say what we all know, he's the best man!

  • This is not "Drummer Cam" this is "guy in the audience" cam. If I wasn't listening to Rush right now I'd be pissed.

  • chill bro its a pretty good video and sound is pretty awesome

  • I was hoping for more. I got cranky.

  • Beautiful, eh?? Neil's grooves are PIECE OF ART, MAN!!!!!

How lucky of you... I'd like to see this MONSTER live and close as this at least one time in my life...

Yeah, Peart!! Show the world who's the BEST rock drummer even born in this planet!!!

And sorry about the bad english! From Brazil!!

  • Lorne Wheaton is watchin Neil like a hawk. Now that's a drumtech for ya! : )

  • Excellent!!!

  • Great shot! I love sitting in the balcony sideways from the stage. I can see everyting from there especially the drummer. Floor seats stink in my opinion. I leave the seat and sit second tier sideways to the stage.

  • Wow! This sounds really good!

  • I love how you can hear Alex singing the chorus! Listen closely.

  • REally great sound

  • 0:01

  • Yeah, thanks.

  • Very cool......good job.

  • this is the best band i have ever gotten to see in concert. i hope they come back to okc.

  • Best show ever for me was the recent one I caught in Hershey, PA outdoors in July...hot as fuck but they played 'Witch Hunt', that was show 1 of 4 I've been to and the first time I ever heard my fav played!!!

  • Rush is the best band ever. Geddy Lee is awesome.

  • first concert ever was seeing them play at Nassau Coliseum, in the late 80's then 2 years later at MSG and then I myself played at MSG on drums 10 years later with a band I was hired to play in.

if it wasn't for Neil, and the gang, I would not be where I am today.

    Thanks guys.

  • It's the professor!

  • kool just try to keep the carmara steady... oh wat am i saying i can never stop shaking the camara in my videos

  • there in their 50s you retard theyve been going since 1974 which is why there old you ass ramming penguin fucker this song was recorded 28 years ago so sorry if he cant quite sing it perfectly rush have some fucking amazing musicians so go suck your grandmothers cock while your mother surches for the peices of your cock that was rotted off when you fucked that cow unprotected

  • Doreen is a cunt.

  • tard,

  • Your so fucking stupid im not even gonna aregue.

  • Nice quality. Seen them at the ACC and Molson Amphitheatre, was front row, best show ever. Drunk as fuck!!

  • hey i was at this show!

this show kicked so much ass, the crowd was great and Rush played flawlessly

  • The audio is outstanding on this. You can hear Alex's solo crystal clear.

  • Thanks for posting. I keep trying to look round to the right to see what Alex is up to! lol

I think Freewill is one of the only tracks where Ged still uses his falsetto. Pure awsomeness from start to finish.

  • I have to say, in my opinion, if drums have too much "emotion" the music falls apart. And Neil peart is the greatest drummer. Also my opinion. But I believe I'm preaching to the choir on this one.

  • Awesome shot - thanks for posting.

  • I don't care what people say about Neil how he "has no style" or "lacks emotion" I have yet to hear anyone play as good as he does live or in the studio. Best drummer ever. Period.

  • Right, and he has a right to lack emotion after both his wife and daughter died.

  • Oh snap!

  • there are many percussionists better then neil and heres a list of them for yall to check out, buddy rich, gene krupa, louie bellson, steve gadd, dave weckl, vinnie colaiuta. cozy powell and carl palmer, moon, bohnam and carmin appice are awesome as well. now having said that, the guys a monster when it comes to energy and pure force as well playing with intensity and dynamics!! i think neil is the best rock percussionist in the world!!i am a huge peart fan, he plays and he plays well!! rock on rush

  • danny carey?

  • You contradicted yourself. Many of those drummers you mentioned are rock drummers. Moon was a joke.

  • its silly to say that Moon and either or the Appice brothers are more talented that Neil Peart.

  • are u a fucking idiot? u started out by saying there are many better then peart, and then u list a bunch of half ass drummers for your examples, and then at the end you say you think neil is the best percussionist in the world..? haha

  • no im not a fucking idiot, buddy rich, louie bellson, dave weckl, gene krupa are not half ass drummers, neither are john bohnam, cozy powell and carl palmer, there all fantastic drummers, if you disagree thats your right, I said neil was the best ROCK percussionist, so maybe you ought to read the text of a comment before you start calling me names!! since your infinate wisdom is apparent, whom do you regard as great percussionist?

  • i didnt call u a fucking idiot. just asked if you were one. u could of very easily said no and answered my question. lmao. and well bohnam is great, but better then peart? that all just depends on taste i guess, and to me bellson and rich have always just kinda been iffy to be. sure they can beat the living shit out of a snare.. but that

  • kinda gets old after a while.. and theres a couple that i have a lot of respect for, but i dont think there better then peart though, like mike portnoy, a couple other faves that are kinda out of the category though would be vinnie paul for sure, and some other cant really think right at the moment... but seriously, dave weckl??? haha

  • unreal, every beat center solid, dudes untouchable.

  • The sound is amazing. Don't F_up that cam.

    Stay on point though dude.

  • AMAZING.............! ! !

    NEIL PEART

  • Awesome sound, almost can't believe its the cam recording

  • good sounding recording. Is that the camcorder mic? What Brand is it?

  • why they are playing in a slower tempo?

  • Even if just for novelty's sake, howabout a merger between Rush & Boston?

  • I got a better Idea!

How about rush and saga :-)

  • Love Saga.

They are way under rated here in the SE USA.

  • sounds slower right here just a little.

  • RUsh rules! geddy from you I became me! peace! vrsca02 check us out!

  • Neil Peart - My favorite drummer

    Geddy Lee- My favorite bassist/keyboardist

Alex Lifeson - My favorite guitarist

    To put it simply:

    Rush - My favoirte band

  • Geddy Lee- My favorite big Canadian nose.

    Is there any other? :o)

  • he's like a damn machine. neil's the man!

  • the show looks so different from this angle

  • best drummer is Canadian yeah!!!

  • best drummer in the world...

  • Wow they are really good live. Must have been crazy there.

  • always gets me why people can't hold a camera still

  • Probably zoomed in?

  • actually the sound is surprisingly good.they are keeping up the pace in night. very much game on. nice!!

  • free will is a good thing!!!

  • THe sound quality is not so impressing in the vid. But great video, Neil peart is my idol.

  • I think this is one of the best all time Rush.

  • Ha ha!

  • great quality!!! good video!

  • A nice cheery Rush song. I like that. The chorus is catchy too! :D

Rush is the best! If you agree thumb me up!

  • What the hell did you just say?

  • ill take 3 of whatever your on.

  • powerful perceptions

  • woah i was there :)

  • Love love love this band. What a drummer, innovative and musical. A genius.

  • pride of Toronto,Canada

  • this should be a national anthem of america

  • But America is continent... not a nation, my friend

  • america is a country dumbass

  • Ohhh... in the same way as Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania?

  • no as in the space between canada and mexico assfuck

  • But you can't give the name of an entire continent to just one (but important) country....

    You don't need to insult

  • we are america too, and it's a shame to share the continent with people like you... call you country United States...

  • i can hear alex over powering geddy every recording i hear of freewill!

  • At my show in Minneapolis/St. Paul when Neil threw his stick in the air, he missed it and it deflected off his drum and almost took Alex's head off. It was awesome.

  • I love Neil Peart's drums, espcially the red finish with black hardware. I seem to have noticed that they play their music at a less frantic pace than in the days of old. Also Geddy does now no longer have the singing ability of a bat. So high pitched that one cannot understand anything. Well a smoother mellower Rush is not a bad thing. It's like a fine oak aged whiskey. A young one is fresh sharp and sparkling and an 18 year old one is mellow, full bodied with rich complex undertones.

  • pretty good, but they need a drummer cam that is handing on a pole above the drummer. it looks really cool.

  • They'd need a REALLY WIDE lens ;)

  • no, they'd just need to put it up nice and high.

  • W00T!

    atlanta 7/22/08!

    can't wait.

  • best song ever! they are so great live. i thought i was going to pass out.

  • it sounds fractionally slower

  • Absolutely the best drummer of ALL time...

And I'm not just basing that on this video...

  • it is what it is

  • how do they keep Alex's feed back down with his amps behind him? shouldnt that vibrate his strings?

  • Most of those amps are for show... The music he hears comes through monitors.. his amps aren't really that loud, they are mic'd and the volume is adjusted through the house sound system.

  • I could masterbate to this.

  • sweet!

  • im seeing them live soon..any comments on the show?

  • its sick cept they dont play fly by night or xanadu

  • well worth it!!!!

  • fucking amazing!!!!

  • you guys were right..it was an amazing show..absolutely well worth it

  • look at his left and right hand going different speeds... then his foot going another speed at a different tempo.. god thats like impossible

  • Lemme guess... You don't know much about drumming?

  • no not really......that's normal drumming

  • yea thats how u play drums

  • not really hes just accenting and syncopating.

the stick throw now thats nearly impossible.

  • master of his craft

  • I think it would have been funny if he dropped the drum stick when he threw it up at the beginning.

  • he did at Winnipeg but if he does who gives a fuck hell hes Neil pert the master at drumming

  • amen brother!

  • when i saw them live in seattle i was just so blown away that my heroes were right there!! i was in tears i was so happy.... awesome vid man....seeing them again

  • Great view! I've seen Rush twice, both times were completely amazing! The Roll the Bones tour and Counterparts.

  • man the 24th cannot come soon enough!

  • when i first heard this song i nearly crapped my pants. i unfortunately thought rush peaked with hemespheres. total reinvention of themselves with this album and it smoked. much more of a jazzier influence. love it!!!!

  • im gonna see them may 29.. i cant wait

    amazing!!!

  • im seeing them in June!

  • yeah lol

i cant wait. from what i have heard rush has the best live performance out there.

  • I'm coming back home to St. Louis with my kids to see them again, saw them last month in St. Paul, your in for an amazing ride! See you there!

  • It's THE Rush tune. Geddy sounds awesome. Range and pitch.

  • THE rush tune as you put it would be tom sawyer or closer to the heart surely? people who havent even heard of rush rcognise those two songs...cant say the same for freewill. but yeah i agree geddy sounded amazing this whole tour. everybody was on fire when i saw them. amazing to be this good after so many years.

  • Its one of THE Rush tunes. Freewill got plenty of airplay here.

  • oh right fair enough. rush hardly got any airplay at all here.

  • this song and other rush tunes proved you could get airplay and retain integrity.

  • I'm going to see them this Sunday!!!! I can't wait!!!!

  • me too, its gonna be sick, saw them at shoreline last time!

  • my wife and I are gonna see them june 1st

  • Saw 'em on 4/19 in N'awlins!! Three + hours of it!!!

Forgot how f*ckin good they sound LIVE!!

    Long Live RUSH!!!!!!
