@cbw201 They typically play some of their songs a bit slower live than the original album versions, especially the older songs. Sounds fine to me. I have the Snakes & Arrows DVD, the speed is about the same on there.
Drummer cam my ass...Should call it the WOOOOOO cam. That was all I could hear. Oh, lets add the title HEADCAM, because that was all I could see....>Drummercam FAIL!
@jimmymac63 Did you expect him to just hop up on stage, and shoot action shots of Neil while rotating around his drum kit? I mean, that would be fantastic, unique, a bunch of really great things. Maybe he could have interrupted the band so he could ask people to be quiet at the rock concert so he could make sure idiots like you didnt have anything ignorant to say when he uploaded this video to youtube. Sigh, why didnt he think of these things. Enjoy the upload or cry less.
@TemplesofLamneth2112 I will give you this, that was a nice rant....buuuuttt....My original comment still stands. Sorry, your prose swayed my opinion not one iota!
Jeez! Neil's drum tech, Lorne Wheaton, is getting HUGE! Check him out at 1:59! He's probably eating a triple-decker turkey club sandwich while Neil's sweatin' his ass off behind the drums!
Holy Crap this cat can play. I get tired of hearing, 'oh Peart can't swing - he's to mechanical, plays with no feeling...' blah blah blah. Appels and oranges. Peart is masterful in his way, dudes like Porcaro were masterful in theirs.
Peart is hands down one the greatest rock drummers ever. THE best? Who cares? Enjoy what he does.
jesus christ... every neil peart video i watch there is a "who is better" argument going on. why cant anyone just enjoy the music? you all sound like a bunch of kids.
GaryxBen and Babybluesnowden. You two are morons. ALthough I love Peart and he's my favorite, I would never say HE'S THE BEST. Who cares? Enjoy the music man. YouTube had become loaded with morons. HE'S THE BEST. NO, THIS GUY IS THE BEST. Who cares. It's there to enjoy. I love all the drummers you two mentioned. I would never call them the best. I only comment when I hear people make comments like this.
I'll tell ya, I was at the Forum in '82' Moving Pictures with a much better shot of Neil than this and you gotta be kidding me. He's every bit as fast, as strong, and right on now. And you know this cause Getty just shakes his head at the end of the jam as if to say what we all know, he's the best man!
Great shot! I love sitting in the balcony sideways from the stage. I can see everyting from there especially the drummer. Floor seats stink in my opinion. I leave the seat and sit second tier sideways to the stage.
Best show ever for me was the recent one I caught in Hershey, PA outdoors in July...hot as fuck but they played 'Witch Hunt', that was show 1 of 4 I've been to and the first time I ever heard my fav played!!!
first concert ever was seeing them play at Nassau Coliseum, in the late 80's then 2 years later at MSG and then I myself played at MSG on drums 10 years later with a band I was hired to play in.

I have to say, in my opinion, if drums have too much "emotion" the music falls apart. And Neil peart is the greatest drummer. Also my opinion. But I believe I'm preaching to the choir on this one.
I don't care what people say about Neil how he "has no style" or "lacks emotion" I have yet to hear anyone play as good as he does live or in the studio. Best drummer ever. Period.
there are many percussionists better then neil and heres a list of them for yall to check out, buddy rich, gene krupa, louie bellson, steve gadd, dave weckl, vinnie colaiuta. cozy powell and carl palmer, moon, bohnam and carmin appice are awesome as well. now having said that, the guys a monster when it comes to energy and pure force as well playing with intensity and dynamics!! i think neil is the best rock percussionist in the world!!i am a huge peart fan, he plays and he plays well!! rock on rush
are u a fucking idiot? u started out by saying there are many better then peart, and then u list a bunch of half ass drummers for your examples, and then at the end you say you think neil is the best percussionist in the world..? haha
no im not a fucking idiot, buddy rich, louie bellson, dave weckl, gene krupa are not half ass drummers, neither are john bohnam, cozy powell and carl palmer, there all fantastic drummers, if you disagree thats your right, I said neil was the best ROCK percussionist, so maybe you ought to read the text of a comment before you start calling me names!! since your infinate wisdom is apparent, whom do you regard as great percussionist?
i didnt call u a fucking idiot. just asked if you were one. u could of very easily said no and answered my question. lmao. and well bohnam is great, but better then peart? that all just depends on taste i guess, and to me bellson and rich have always just kinda been iffy to be. sure they can beat the living shit out of a snare.. but that
kinda gets old after a while.. and theres a couple that i have a lot of respect for, but i dont think there better then peart though, like mike portnoy, a couple other faves that are kinda out of the category though would be vinnie paul for sure, and some other cant really think right at the moment... but seriously, dave weckl??? haha

At my show in Minneapolis/St. Paul when Neil threw his stick in the air, he missed it and it deflected off his drum and almost took Alex's head off. It was awesome.
I love Neil Peart's drums, espcially the red finish with black hardware. I seem to have noticed that they play their music at a less frantic pace than in the days of old. Also Geddy does now no longer have the singing ability of a bat. So high pitched that one cannot understand anything. Well a smoother mellower Rush is not a bad thing. It's like a fine oak aged whiskey. A young one is fresh sharp and sparkling and an 18 year old one is mellow, full bodied with rich complex undertones.
Most of those amps are for show... The music he hears comes through monitors.. his amps aren't really that loud, they are mic'd and the volume is adjusted through the house sound system.
