This is just absolutely impossible! There's no way to do a tailslide just like you've demonstrated because you're probably using a cheat or code or something like that. I've tried thousands of times and I still can't get it. I still don't know what the hell tailsliding means. Can you show us the buttons you're pressing?

he's not using a cheatcode obviously... its not his fault you did it "thousands of times" but dont even know how to tailslide... by the way there is a button that says "how to play" right on the main menu, cant miss it

All these "guides" seem to omit one thing -- how to tailslide. As dumb as it may sound, the ingame "help" doesn't really say much about it. It only says "You can also starslide..."

I just don't get the mechanics that you use, and your "foolproof" guide obviously isn't descriptive enough for me.

I don't understand, how do you catch the stars slides if you don't press the down arrow. Cos if you were pressing it, your dolphin would corskcrew, right?

Amazing how it's been more than a year since I played it and I remember stuff.

When you corkscrew as you are going up, it slows your speed, hence why you don't do it. It might not appear like I am pressing the down arrow but I do it just before each startrail 'zone' so I actually do corkscrew just for a split second.

I know that in the vid it says the multiplier has no effect but for ages I couldn't reach the moon starslide without just jumping. If you make sure you have at least 15x before trying to tailside jump you will be able to make it, just. I was failing for ages then got it 4th try after realising this

that explanation for getting nice entries confused me when he put the math stuff up. I always had trouble with angles but i think if you leave going 25 degrees and re-enter at 155 you would be going tail first. It isn't as self explanatory as he might think, but other than that it was a fairly helpful vid.

i think best explanation for tail slide should to the tangent to the curve of the trajectory.. i.e. just roughly make sure u are travelling in the direction of the star trail ur leaving behind..

I think what he means is 360° - the angle you left at (basically the original angle you left at but mirrored) e.g, you leave at 20° and re-enter at 340° (leave at ﮮ enter at ﺣ)

Theres an easier way, align the body of the dolphin to the tail traces os small yellows stars that he makes, just like the final explanation of the video.

The heighest I get is at 1300, that's because this game is so freaking luck dependant. Like, you had that star thing at the first planet, it took me more than 20 tries to hit it, and doing a tailslide as a first launch sucks because it barely gets u above the first planet even after 22 good entries (I made) while also having a 15 multiplier.

Yes, I did enter the tailslide from a shallow angle, it's just not efficient. the chances u will make itb y doing this are small..

Extremly good guide! I just got to the resturant with this guide. Just a few things i noticed: It's hard to get to the first starslide at the moon, but when you are going for the final jump, don't starslide before you get a little bit higher (as he does in the movice, just need to be pointed out :p). And i kinda disagree that combo doesn't matter in this guide, because the beginning is kinda crucial. But gl and gogo 2000m and have a cheeseburger!

Davyc712, I had the same problem as you. What you do is instead of leaving on an angle, you just press straight up as you're doing your tailslide. Also, when doing your tricks, press the down key as well. Not in water though or it will cause you to stop. Pressing the down key allows you to get a starslide. To leave a starslide, press the up key like when you're leaving a tailslide. Btw, you're guide helped me loads! All my thx!!!!!!!

whatr u do after 1 min of perf entries u come out at 90 degrees str8 up nd hit a couple of star slides. they make u go lateral which means u measuer up the angel and go in by looking at the trail behind u. Once u have those coloured dolhpins behinfd u u can do awsum tail slides, not before then though

I have the same problem as everyone else. I even tested and got up to 50 perfect entries, tailslided as horizontally as possible and I only got up to just below the moon. I just dont understand how you all manage to get such a huge speed boost off of the tailslides. The highest I have gotten is to pluto, but I got lucky on that one.

Foolproof... Well, it does not work for me, I got an incredible horizontal speed but with tailsliding I hardly make it to the moon. If I hit such a ring which boosts me up into the stars it works and I get up to at least Uranus but then back in the water I have no chance to turn around before hitting ground.

I have the same problem, I build good speed (about 18-20 nice entery) and tailslide up in space, and reach pretty high up but when I fall down I always hit the bottom of the sea, without any chance to react :/

1. A starslide is what you believe it is (a starslide itself is sliding on the starlines.. if you get me)

2. To get a 'boost' from a starslide you need to leave the water in an as-horizontal-exit-as-possible tailslide

3. I'm not sure what part you are doing wrong in a tailslide. Hit me back with what part you are having difficulties with but I thought the guide was pretty comprehensive

Thanks a lot for the answers! It might be me that's just doing the tailslide wrong, maybe I don't get an 'as-horizontal-exit-as-possibl­e'. I try to make the exit as horizontal as possible, but when I hit the up key I don't get much height. Could it be that I'm waiting too long before I hit the up key? I'm quite new with this game so I'm not so fast with some things, but I manage to hit the up key within a second after I have got up to the surface tailsliding.

Maybe some more practise will help.

Yeah you lost me. I'm not sure what is going wrong for you. If you are lining yourself up EXACTLY with the flashy dolphin then it never fails. Only reason I can think of is if you are turning too soon (before your dolphin is actually in the water). If you tailslided you should have a shallow enough re-entry to have sufficient time to compose without hitting the bottom

Alright, I am seriously losing my patience trying to get to the resturant. I am 99% certain I'm doing EVERYTHING right, and yet the stupid dolphin can't even reach the moon on the first try so I spend lots of my time trying to reach the starslide. If you havn't already watched my tailsliding tutorial (video response) then do so, it should solve issues with exit angles etc.

If you have watched it and no matter what you do you can't seem to get lines it is possible to still do my technique *only last resort =P* with a 45 degree initial exit so you get a few starslides under your belt, which should boost your tailslide enough to continue but for example in this, I launched from the water with 32 sec. to spare and got it using my technique

Starsliding is the same concept as tailsliding. When you approach the starline, press and hold down, then as soon as you see your dolphin doing the tailslide look that you get on the water's surface, press up to launch. If your doing this but still not getting much height, look into my tailsliding tutorial (response video to this) and look at Phase 2 and 3 especially.

Thanks for posting this. One question though, how many "takes" do you go through to get this recorded? I can't believe that the low tailslide catches stars every time. I am rarely hitting the moon with the first tailslide with your method.

The only thing that will stop me from a successful "take" is missing the final slide.

I know many people have issues with tailsliding which is either a result of not enough speed or a too vertical approach. Try tailsliding after approaching vertically and then after approaching horizontally, you should see a massive improvement in both height and speed from the horizontal one, thus make sure you enter a tailslide as horizontal as possible. Prehaps read my response to 'Muskar18' for more info

As a general rule, when you launch yourself from a tailslide your horizontal momentum = vertical momentum (your speed is transferred from across to 'up'). Thus to get the most benefit you need to do a tailslide as horizontal as possible. The only thing I can say to help would 1. make sure you enter a tailslide as horizontal as possible and then quickly press up and 2. have a decent amount of speed (it's why at least 15 entries is recommended). Preferably closer to 20. Hope that helps =D
