Actually I think he has reached a stage where the audience will adapt to his standard. Ofcourse there are situations and places where he would encounter disrespectful idiots, but lets leave them for what they are, 'idiots'...
He is a rare breed as apposed to all the fart joke telling copycats that call themselves 'professionals'...
In a world of magic where we have people like Criss Angel and David Blaine, it is refreshing to see a professional who knows about presentation. Eugene Burger has performed magic for years. If this is the type of presentation he gives obviously it is working or he would change it. Without people like Ammar, Mcbride, and Burger the world of magic would not be where it is today. Everybodys presentation is different, but they use what suits them best and gets the best responses.
Why do magicians defend this man? His presention is so creepy and not the way he intends but in a get away from me kinda way. Not only that but its always confusing, hard to follow, and always falls short leaving you with the feeling of "thats inrteresting, but is that it?" This is why 95% of magicians are crap becuause of people like him, McBride, Ammar, and so on, they claim to know the lessons of presentation but havn't the slightest idea of true Theater
I'd love to see Ammar, McBride and Berger perform in an English working man's club or pub - they'd get slaughtered with their "look at me I'm holier than thou" bullshit!
@Konstantin1234 partially disagree. I have seen McBride live. he KNOWS theatre and drama. Ever see him do miser's dream? THAT is how you present without verbal patter. Whole crowd was laughing/clapping. Absolute gold.
I think you're more correct about Berger and Ammar, who are magician's magicians. They inspire us to do greater things, even though they AREN'T amazing performers themselves.
Very smooth, he did not use her card to put the cigarette through, rather he used another and then swapped it for hers. Still leaves me boggled on how he got it through :P
This dude? Are you a total idiot? This is Eugene Burger! He is one of the best, most talented, most influential, and most creative close-up performers of this century! And you call him "This dude?"
My god. Obviously, you don't know Eugene Burger if you think his "patters sucks baddly."
He's just got by solely by being one of the happy clappy, back slapping U.S. brigade of wonnabees. I reiterate my point below - if he was working in a British Working Mens Club or restuarant, the punters would tear him to pieces.
If you want modern day creative, stylish magicians, check out Tamariz & Gaeton Bloom.
Most obviously, Eugene has more talent than you presume to have.
Tamariz, whom I've had the pleasure to meet as well as Eugene, are both VERY talented magicians, but to compare their collective styles of presentation is like comparing the proverbial apples to oranges. I like both, but it all depends on what I have a taste for at the time.
@PACO Your right he is and thats sad Why do magicians defend this man? His presention is so creepy and not the way he intends but in a get away from me kinda way. To quote you - 'he is one of the most creative performers of this Century'.
Well firstly when you wrote your comment it was only 2009, so I assume that you meant 'in the past 100 years'?
Irrespective of this, please tell us what effects exactly he has actually CREATED? Or do you consider a boring, monotone voice and stories of magic that quite honestly patronise adults rather than entertain them, as being his 'creativity?
God this guy's presentation leaves me cold. Berger is a typical example of someone that preaches philosophy about magic yet would die a death working most venues professionally in the UK.
In this sense I agree. But see him live and maaan he is amazing. I got the pleasure of seeing him perform and meeting him in 2005... amazing amazing magician.
I think the debate in the comments is pointless. Some people get Eugene, some don't. I personally enjoy his presentation.

What has he EVER 'created'?
What 'talent' does he demonsrate?
Who has he ever 'influenced'?
