I owned an AC Aceca that was fitted with a 289 cobra driveline and brakes. I ran a 260 v8 with a two barrel and a toplaoder 4spd. The cobra stuff came from a wreck and it was retrofitted to the AC. This car was so light I could use my index finger to push it on a flat surface! I raced it at the vintage nationals in San Diego and had the time of my life. Perfect balance of braking, acceleration and handling. Real small footwells though :)

Although you are correct you Nebula is not completely wrong as the 427 Cobras did utilize a completely different chassis using 4" tubes, different body than the 260/289 variants as well as a larger radiator opening. a 427 or MkIII Cobra is VERY easy to distinguish from other variants based solely on the body...... 427 in the badge did stand for the engine displacement but also dictated the above changes....

I would have to agree. More is always better, especially for gear heads but 1200 is overkill in such a light car. I don't see any way of getting that to the ground. These cars are a lot more fun with a small block anyways IMO because of weight. These weren't intended to be drag cars. Apparently you don't understand what that means. It means that that body style is the 427 body style. There's a 289/302 and 427ci body style, 427 being the most popular due to the wide body and fender flares.
In America, if you have the money and skill, you can put any engine in any car. Racing groups have strict safety standards to be met.
However, I am not a fan of 'cross breeding'. If you want a Cobra, put a Ford engine in it. If you have to save money by building a 'cheap yvech' motor in it, then I guess you still can't afford the COBRA!

From where i live the rules states that your car has to weight a specific number to have powerfull engines, an Ford 427 Sideoiler (425-485 bhp versions) is in a byrocratical weiw 'to powerfull' in the power/weight ratio for an replica Cobra, if i want to use those engines i have to get my hands on a real frame, otherwise it'll be impossible to legaly registrate them ;(
The rules states 15Kw/100 Kg, the 427 makes ''to much power'' in an replica since it's not build between 65-67-, but you can build them with various smallblocks, unless they got ''to much'' power. Yes...I've read about this car...giant engine (12 litres or thereabout), around 1200bhp ish...carbon fibre body and titanium parts in the chasis...costs an arm and a leg too. It's no kit car either...it was a very limited production run of cars by a German company. I'd like to see it race a Bugatti Veyron, ZR1 Corvette, McLaren F1...a few cars like that. This would give us all a real idea of how it stacks up...

Although you are correct you Nebula is not completely wrong as the 427 Cobras did utilize a completely different chassis using 4" tubes, different body than the 260/289 variants as well as a larger radiator opening. a 427 or MkIII Cobra is VERY easy to distinguish from other variants based solely on the body...... 427 in the badge did stand for the engine displacement but also dictated the above changes....

I would have to agree. More is always better, especially for gear heads but 1200 is overkill in such a light car. I don't see any way of getting that to the ground. These cars are a lot more fun with a small block anyways IMO because of weight. These weren't intended to be drag cars. Anyone who has driven one of these cars knows they are a shit load of fun with 3-400 hp. 1200 seems ridiculous.

Apparently you don't understand what that means. It means that that body style is the 427 body style. There's a 289/302 and 427ci body style, 427 being the most popular due to the wide body and fender flares.

In America, if you have the money and skill, you can put any engine in any car. Racing groups have strict safety standards to be met.
However, I am not a fan of 'cross breeding'. If you want a Cobra, put a Ford engine in it. If you have to save money by building a 'cheap yvech' motor in it, then I guess you still can't afford the COBRA!

Well i don't mind so much about 'cross breeding', as long as it's functional and looks good, but Ford engines rocks.
From where i live the rules states that your car has to weight a specific number to have powerfull engines, an Ford 427 Sideoiler (425-485 bhp versions) is in a byrocratical weiw 'to powerfull' in the power/weight ratio for an replica Cobra, if i want to use those engines i have to get my hands on a real frame, otherwise it'll be impossible to legaly registrate them ;(

The rules states 15Kw/100 Kg, the 427 makes ''to much power'' in an replica since it's not build between 65-67-, but you can build them with various smallblocks, unless they got ''to much'' power. I'am so sick of those rules, i wish the replicas could get special permission to use factory engines without problem, perhaps it will change one day, i really hope.

Yes...I've read about this car...giant engine (12 litres or thereabout), around 1200bhp ish...carbon fibre body and titanium parts in the chasis...costs an arm and a leg too. It's no kit car either...it was a very limited production run of cars by a German company. I'd like to see it race a Bugatti Veyron, ZR1 Corvette, McLaren F1...a few cars like that. This would give us all a real idea of how it stacks up...

Correct. It's a 12.9 liter V8. It produces 1100 bhp and 1300 ft/lbs of torque. It has no abs, tcs, sms, or any other driving aid.
