@boarderlax1222 are a dumb, i play box Goalie and i get about 60 shots on me a game, by the end both arms are covered with bruises. if we didn't wear all the pads that we do no goalie would last a fucking game. i have my thumb fractured twice this season. im not saying field goalie dont get hurt there both hard to play but dont think the box goalies and pussies for wearing all the pads

I played both. i still play box and i played field in high school, and its night and day. both positions are alot of fun, and they both hurt alot some times. it's not that the shats are faster, its that they're closer, and there is alot more of them. box and field are two differnt games

I've played both and am ranked 3rd in British columbia in box and 5th in feild I have to say box is funner and harder because you get at least 5times more shots in box and at my age (junior) the nets are bigger, there fore making box harder. I'm 6'2 210 so net size don't effect me in field that much...

@LaxGoaliefly he reason they wear pads in box lax is 1 cause the net is a lot smaller (only 4x4) and their are a lot more shots. Therefore, the box lacrosse style of goalie play is all about getting your body in front of the ball and not getting your stick there instead. When goalies take shots to the skin in field lax it hurts them but that's only once every game at most. In box lax they are taking up to 30 shots a game to their bodyThey wouldn't be able to survive a whole game without the pads

You said we only take one shot a game at most, yet i come home after every game with bruises all over my thighs and arms and two weeks ago, a shot broke my thumb. field lax goalies put up with way more pain then box lax goalies and it is harder to be a field lax goalie. so munch a weiner.

@aDerks96 im a feild lax goalie and what you say is not true about feild lax goalies we have to get our body in front of the ball ASWELL as our stick so if we miss with the stick our bodies are there to stop it and after every practice and game i play i come home with bruises and sometimes bleeding (under the right circumstances) and once i had to go to the ER due to a shattered elbow so I think that being a box lax GOALIE not regular player is the easiest goalie position in sports

Okay, this kid is giving a bad example of what being a boxla goalie is. youtube search "boxla goalie" posted by 63fad this guy is much better. The reason the pads are so big is becuase theres 100% more shots on net in box than field, the shots are 100% faster in box than field and box goalies DO have a major part in plays. Please people who are insulting boxla don't try to flame it without playing it. If you played it you would actually understand why people love it.

It teaches you to follow a play well because it tends to move a lot faster up the floor and in the offensive zone than field does. Box players tend to have better stick skills so you learn to judge fakes well. Also, a good grasp of angles carries over to goaltending in all sports.
