  • I LUV Ofra Haza and Madonna.

  • Ofra was a huge Madonna fan and Madonna loves her very much at that time they were both singed in Warener/Sire

RIP Ofra , long live Queen Madonna

  • voce angelica

  • Kinda makes madonna look like......

  • It is ironic that Ofra is covering a Madonna song, since in the 70s music journalists albeit retrospectively called her the "Madonna of the East". This was mainly because like Madonna she was a POP star.

  • kisss superbe :)

  • belle musik belle parole ca me touche beaucoup et beaucoup de douceur merci ofra love

  • fack madoinna

  • omg .....ofra haza !!! ...... awsome!

  • Beautiful lady, beautiful voice.

  • Just magnificent voice!

  • zichrona livracha

  • i would so marry her she is pretty and a voice of Angels

  • Let this be known to all those who run the record labels. Up until 20 minutes ago, I had never so much as heard of Ofra Haza, after finding this video I read up on her on Wiki. So what am I doing now? Why purchasing this song on iTunes. Moral? Don't try too hard to "protect" music rights by banning play on youtube..you'd be surprise how many folks buy music they would not have had an opportunity to discover otherwise.

  • @tonybklyn This is a point that I keep trying to make - Ofra Haza would have almost disappeared if it was not for her fans preserving videos - long before YouTube existed - then uploading them when YouTube came along. Plus their own internet sires and putting her on Wikipedia.

There is a point where the copyright mafia need to STOP AND THINK...!!!

There are examples where they are doing more harm than good - shooting their own toes off.

Co-operation with the fans is the solution.

  • ofra, you are not supposed to do a better job at singing a song than the original artist! :) this is gentle and passionate... God rest her soul, RIP Ofra Haza

  • @mariposasabrosa Ofra was a proper singer with supreme talent, Madonna just a showgirl - it was inevitable that Ofra's version would steam all over Madonna's.

Isn't that what tributes are really about ? ....~:-D

  • @KNJGSY yah but it's Madonna's song at the end of the day and obviously ofra respected her enough to cover her song... Ofra may have had a beautiful voice, but Madonna's music is great too... show some more respect, like ofra did!

  • the best ever......

  • I LOVE OFRHA-NOBODY HAS HER VOICE IN THE WORLD, NOBODY! HER VOICE IS A GIFT FROM GOD! WE LOVE YOU OFRHA AND WE PRAY FOR YOU! :)

  • Miss you my Music Angel!!! TODA RABA.

  • Long Live Ofra Haza !!!

Más saludos desde Argentina; me acabo de enterar de que fisicamente ya no está entre nosotros. Su voz es hipnotizante...

  • beautiful voice havent heard another one like hers she was great an angels voice in a humans body

  • R.I.P OFRA HAZA.

You had a Angel sound in your voice. Rest In Peace.

  • she's the one who sings "deliver us" from the prince of egypt, isn't she? D: beautiful voice!

  • I think that is SARAH BRIGHTMAN, singing deliver us..

But Ofra Haza had indeed the voice of an angel.

  • it isn't sarah, I have the soundtrack and it says ofra haza plus, sarah's voice is different

  • REALLY? GREAT! is it possible for you to share it here? Or send us the name of the cd and producer please?

  • @marina6y Ofra Haza DID sing "Deliver Us" and various other tracks from Prince of Egypt, it was one of the last things she did before she died. Sarah Brightman sang a track called "Deliver Me". Ofra does have links with Sarah though, Sarah's boyfriend produced Ofra's last CD which featured Sarah on Backing vocals and Ofra featured on Sarah's Harem album.

  • @marina6y:

SARAH BRIGHTMAN and OFRA HAZA did a completely different version of "deliver us". "Deliver us" by Ofra Hoza is a movie as well and sung in many languages.....

    BOTH versions very beautiful though.

  • Yes, that's her. That's how I discovered her from that movie.

  • @tHepRIncekaI

Yes, that's her. She covered the songs for the majority if not all of different translations of the same song. I think she did actually.

  • Madonna's version of this just came on the radio a few minutes ago, and I freaked out because I remembered that Ofra covered it! I considered an indirect-Ofra-radio moment, lol.

  • Ofra gave this song a heart

  • Wonderful vibrato and tone love how she sings without the same passion as Madonna and its great that she is often slightly flat. Plus her accent comes through so I love it more when she sticks to her own music. Stay positive and speak the truth.

  • Ofra Haza was a middle-eastern singer - if she she sang 'flat', she intended to. Look for her "Yerushelayim Shel Zahav" and hear a whole song sung 'flat' . For those of us brought up on the 'octatonic' scale it is a World apart and Ofra was exceptionally good at both kinds of music.

  • She sings ten times better than Madonna!

  • When i saw for the first time the video clip i min alu on the tv when i was a child i think it's the first time i fell in love :-) WHAT A HEAVENLY VOICE and natural beauty. Brittney Spears, Beyonce, Madonna and etc ... well they don't tip on the level Ofra HAZA. I LOVE YOU OFRA HAZA !!!

  • I live in Argentina, and probably, I am the only one who listened to her music. I can not believe that she died! She must be in heaven now (where I think her voice came from). Thank you for share something so beautiful!

  • No sos el único en Argentina que escuchaba a Ofra Haza, yo tampoco puedo creer que se haya ido

  • Nice comment, very inspired.

  • nop, no sos el unico q escucha ofra haza...saludos desde tucuman

  • @GarciaSamanes Somos muchísimos querido... Hay cintas y discos de Ofra Haza desde Alfonsín :) Saludos.

  • @GarciaSamanes Nope, you are not the only one ;)

  • Such a sweet song.

    RIP Ofra Haza! Always remembered!

  • What a beautiful voice she has. To bad she died of AIDS. Her stupid husband gave it to her.

  • wow.I didn't know that she sang Madonnas open your heart song. Thank you so much for sharing :)

  • Wow, I didn't know that Ofra did this one!!

    RIP Ofra תנצב"ה

  • I love this song which is part of the Ultimate Tribute album to Madonna's music on 2008!! Ofra and her magnificient voice!!

  • yah and then cyndi sort of wanted to outshine her when she released the song change of heart in the same year they both competed and eventually madonna won

  • luchiano LMAO LMAO ! hahaha dude the song was first sung by cyndi lauper and was later given to madonna this isnt ofra'z it even says that on wikipedia lol and the song is obvisualy madonna's because of the lyrical content

  • Technically Melissa was the first one to release her version of it though, Abre tu corazón. This is my favorite version of this song though!

  • ciny lauper? are you sure?

  • wow..... stunning!

  • Never thought that one of my favorite madonna´s song would sound so magnifique as this version, is Celestial, Ofra was, is and will be a sweet angel....

  • muy buena version, hermosa mujer, lastima que ya no esté con nosotros

  • Simply ecstatic! What a version! She turned the track into an epic song.

  • I love this song :)

  • spectacular-magnificient

    I love her precoius voice

God bless her wherever she is now!

  • I think you dont know but, Ofra's version of "open your heart" was before than Madonna's...

    See ya !!!

    Luchianoxxx

  • What since when??

  • This version rocks! Its so much more exotic than Madonna's version, which, by the way, is pretty nice to hear.

  • I dont even bother to read lines against Ofra Haza and Madonna ... They are both great artist ( even if Ofra Haza has already died ) i saw them both live and they are both great artist ....and thats it !!!

Nothing left to say except that i miss Ofra and keep loving Madonna

  • " May I help all beings, and if I ever tire in this great work, may my body be shattered into a thousand pieces."-Prayer of Avalokiteshvara. In spite of all his efforts, he was shattered into a thousand pieces. But the buddhas made him whole again. He gained both the means and the wisdom to help others. And his compassion grew so powerful that it filled the Universe. He became the Tibetan Buddha of Compassion.( Tibet ) His message is to help all beings! Bless you Ofra! OM MANI PADME HUM HRIH

  • Is she dead now as i keep hearing she is?? plus ive heard no new material in years!

  • yes .. sadly she died of aids a while ago.

  • There is no comparing Ophra to Madonna. Though talented, Madonna is pure pop - cheap and commercial. Opha had some commercial appear, but she was a true artist. She relied upon her ability to express herself vocally. She didn't see fit to degrade herself in sex-laced semi-pornography that passed itself off as art. Ophra - RIP.

  • Madonna is an artist too and the art I mean is not semi-pornography or whatsoever.

  • uel786. Ofra herself obviously thought differently since this version is a tribute to Madonna. Maybe you should open your mind.

  • Can this song be used as a metaphora of Israeli-Palestinian conflict?

  • Ofra would be certainly all for it, since she was promoting peace.

  • Madge should pass out of pride.

  • Please people..they are both number 1!! each with a unique talent, you just can't compare them to each other. yet they are both strong ,individual women. It's just sad ofra left so soon..she could have make a diffrence now with things going on between the middle east and the western world. oh yeah Let's not forget the collabaration of madonna and ofra haza with the song "erotica"

  • oh yes, I completely agree!

  • Hmm. I think that it is Fairouz who is heard on Erotica. Madonna's producers used a sample of hers without asking permission. I believe Fairouz sued Madonna for that but apparently with no avail.

  • In America, she would still be #1. And much better protected.

  • Even though she died young, Ofra Haza was by no means a failure. Far from it, in fact. She left behind an incredible legacy - not only some of the most beautiful songs in the world, but the memory of a woman who was a terrific role model and a true lady. She lived an extremely clean lifestyle and was a noble, gracious, kind-hearted soul who knew how to treat her family, friends and fans well. She's the stuff true legends are made of.

  • So true, JoMarieM, so true.

Ofra posessed eternal qualities, both vocally and in her character as a woman and a human being. S H E opened the hearts of people. Whether Madonna does, I don't know. She never moved m e .

Ofra, on the other hand, is what I like to call, three-dimensional, with her layers of depth of expression and emotion.

  • gotta admit it, this cover is better than the original. but I'm biased, i love ofra.

  • Ofra sang beautifully in this song (a terrific start!) with her usual powerful voice unlike the modern pop style in some of her english songs. Ulikeornot, can you add this as a video response to Madonna's song pls?

  • Poor old Madonna had to put such a big effort to become 'pop sensation', promoting herself, re-inventing herself, exploiting her sexuality, (er - not that easy was it ?). To be a sensation all Ofra Haza needed to do was open her mouth and sing. She gave a whole new dimension to the word "Awesome". Here is a little of the evidence !

  • That is a cruel comment. If Ofra had been American she would No.1 in the World. She would also have had an agent who surrounded her with people who would have kept the likes of Ashkenazy away from her, and the pressures on her to find a husband at 40 would not have been as acute. But she came froma small country and what she did sell worldwide and into America was a big achievement. She died because she wanted to have children and was betrayed. What a nasty little person you are to say that !

  • What do you want from me? I am just saying the truth. Your "Poor old Madonna" is one of the richest and most successful women in the world. It was bashert (that's a Jewish word, by the way) that Ofra should die young. All her beauty and talent were strictly "on loan from G-d". She was not meant to have "arichas yamim" to our great sadness.

  • What do I want from you ? You mean nothing to me. Yes you said something 'obvious', but it is tactless to say it. The way you said it implies that Ofra was a failure because she died. What do you know of life and death ? In terms of pure talent and skill Ofra was more successful than Madonna. Madonna is a business woman first and foremost - she made her wealth in her huge home market - easy pickings for a local. Now she is a tax exile living in England.

  • Charlotteamalie, I do not hold with your fatalist superstition. Life can be good, and it can be bad. Sadly, nasty people prey on the nice people, and that is what happened to Ofra. Perhaps her niceness meant she was not equipped to see it coming, perhaps she believed in 'bashert' and let it happen, up to a point. Perhaps if she wasn't so pure and lovely, she would still be with us.

  • Far more important now is - Listen to Ofra singing, take pleasure from her voice and talent and do not let the memory of her die. There will never be another like her, she was a one-off.

[There are Madonnas on every street and rich ones can buy success.]

  • beautiful,alot better than madonna's version
