No Bill, it doesn't need to be more than that. When you're running for the second highest office in the land, you're supposed to know the countries that comprise the continent you live on, that Africa is a continent, what NAFTA is.
In one single sense McCain did us a favor by choosing Palin as his running mate. It made it irrefutably clear that O'Reilly would say anything to support the Republicans. Yes, it's an opinion show, but he knows this is indefensible, yet he does it anyway.

YOU CAN BE TUTORED?....you're running for vice president and O'reilly thinks that at that point,it's fine to bring someone's knowledge up to the standard of a basic high school education? Does he not think that someone in that position in the world should be ABOVE FUCKING AVERAGE?...or would that make them an 'elite'.?
