its also sad to see how many people dont clean their tear stains/snot off their dogs. that can build up, and mat let alone the high risk of eye infections which these dogs can be prone to if not taken are of right.

Since so many of you seem to have a Cavalier of your own, I wonder if I could ask two questions about the breed (I would love to have one someday)

1. How much does the breed cost (Not a show dog necessarily, just a family pet)

2. How much of a concern is the heart issue?

If anyone could answer either of those that would be very helpful. I think I have a good idea for both, but any input would be appreciated.

This is certainly a beautiful breed. I have rescued 4 so far. I hate how they are over bred and that some have to die so young. As much as i love this breed i would also like to see dog breeding stopped and to save a dog from one of the 5000 a day that are destroyed in the U S because no one wants them. Its the perfect family dog, to cute and they are very friendly. Our first dog was a Cavalier. But he died, after 5 years it was terrible. But, 3 weeks after his dead we can't live without a dog, we take a new cavalier at home and his name is Sam. We are very happy with him.
