  • I'm quite a fan of that guy at the end.

  • Just got this CD for my mums birthday...I love them!

  • went to see them in burnley last night! absoslutely fabulous!

  • these guys are amazing so much better than the rubbish thats out now days

  • 3 people are from Devon

  • Awesome version. I much to prefer this over the one with Show of Hands - I'm not mad on the wailing parts!

  • im 17 year odl american who stumbled upon these guys, and i love it because it reminds me of my visits across the pond!!

  • they dont even need the backing music they are superb the way they are!!!! i know this because i saw them at cambridge ;)

  • Most groups sing this song at much too quick of a tempo. It is totally inappropriate for the material and sounds much slower. Note that the pace most groups sing it would be impossible to use as a shanty for synchronizing the pull to raise a main s'l. Technical historical correctness aside, I think it works better MUSICALLY at a slower pace. Other versions by The Fiserman's Friends I've heard are even a bit slower and for my taste works much better.

  • @inyobill Get a life! What a load of sycophantic garbage - how many mains have you had to raise........ Do us all a favour and keep 'your thoughts and tastes' to yourself.......

  • @inyobill I mean this without spite or aggression, that came across as nothing more than a one-dimensional, somewhat banal expression of a single preference. It was also clearly dressed up as insightful analysis.

  • Should get these guys to come down to the Pilot Gig weekend on the Scillies! Would be awesome!

  • Search "Cornish sing-along" for some locals singing an array of cornish songs

  • ??? many straight people cry. what upbringing did you have hahahaahah

  • i felt tearful after this and i'm straight. These guys definately deserve that record deal!

  • Lovely song only issues is why would i want an advert for lady gaga's new song. I'd much rather have pins stuck in my ears than listen to that "women"

  • would they consider doing an orignal song by myself search P.S. Lincoln Castle by Bombarino ??

  • they are better than the music that is out today

  • Reminds me of seeing them as the Shanty Singers in Port Isaac. Every time I come back I can't wait for the Friday to hear them.

  • Fishermans Friends please don't sell out this great music to the overproduced Corporations. The early albums were wonderful.

  • saw these live in port isaac,,best experience ive had in cornwall

  • you gentlmen are the absolute best, keep it up, love your music :)

  • Next time you see a stray dog in the street, look under his tail and you will see this band,

    Why? you ask

Because they are the dogs bollocks....Superb

  • I didn't know anyone in Australia, other than recent some immigrants, had rhotic accents. never heard this b4 - it's alright isn't it?

  • these guys are great

  • @reubenharvey Yes

  • @23 secs in - is that Port Quin?

  • @altayloraus No It's Port Isaac...which is like 20 minuets from me :)

  • thumbs up if you saw the youngs advert and wanted to hear them again

  • Playing Sunday at Glastonbury. Gutted i aint going now.

  • Such a lovely sound

  • Great version

  • nancy blair, blah blah blah

fife n drums, fife n drums

    sing sing sing, Tibetan throat

    Bound down Alabama

  • GODS!!!

  • Haha, thats so weird, I l've like 10 mins from here, and know the guy with the massive tash XD

  • Wonderful, but works much better without the production

  • just seen them on country tracks bbc1. amazing

  • Congrats on last night at the R2 Folk Awards.

    V well deserved.

  • When I'm older I want a husband as aweshome as themm^-^<3

  • these chaps are excellent. South Australia should be sung a bit moire quickly a bit more gusto, but wonderful still

  • @alanbstard4 I think it is with Show of Hands

  • Now THIS is music!

Put this in your pipe and smoke it, Justin Bieber.

  • I'm not sure that I like this version of the song, or at least this rendition of it: The musical accompaniment is distracting, and takes away from these men's magnificent voices...

  • It's a sad thing that this form of song is not as well known as it should be. I'm in London now and I have been singing these songs for years in the pubs with choirs and groups around the land and yet now I hear none of it >.>

Although sad to hear the flute and guitar in there.... we just used to beat out on a table or bar(depending on how many glasses were the other side XD ). Sounds brilliant.

  • i love them !!!

  • i love them

  • anyone know where to find their cover of sloop john b?

  • love this group. allways singin little songs when im fishing and now i have more ammunition. GNARRR! lol

  • Great Group. Saw them live on beach recently, and just love them. However this production is very poor !!!

The obvious miming for the individual shots of singers is very poor, and ruins the whole video. Take it down somebody, for it ruins the ambience and presentation of the guys who deserve much better

  • The Fishermen's Friends are brill goo old Cornishmen but i think they sound better with no backing track like most male voice choirs

  • Argghhh!! What have they done?!?!? They've stereotyped it up to the extreme and made it soo twee it's beyond belief! If you want to see how they should sound, search 'South Australia' and click on the first video.

  • fair play to them

i might only be fifteen but still it actually sounds better then some of the crap out today;)

  • @edmystro83 i totally agree some of this new stuff aint actually that good people just listen to it to fit in and stuff i still like to listen to some oldstyle music and im not afraid to say it

  • Im in South Australia.

Love the vid, great shots of my Cornish home.

  • i love this song !

  • FIT :D

  • I had a mobile phone video of these guys sent to me, took me ages to work out who they were. Eventually had to ask Dad. But when their album come out I bought it ! It is the first CD I have bought in almost a decade. Download most of my music, but with guys they deserve all the credit they get and whatever they reap from their music

  • amazing im going to get the album when its out i can beleave that its just some fisherman who just sing in their local pub for fun and i wish them the best of luck

  • amazing sound, im definitely going to get the album :) Loved that the press had a field day with the puns also!!
