Most groups sing this song at much too quick of a tempo. It is totally inappropriate for the material and sounds much slower. Note that the pace most groups sing it would be impossible to use as a shanty for synchronizing the pull to raise a main s'l. Technical historical correctness aside, I think it works better MUSICALLY at a slower pace. Other versions by The Fiserman's Friends I've heard are even a bit slower and for my taste works much better.
@inyobill Get a life! What a load of sycophantic garbage - how many mains have you had to raise........ Do us all a favour and keep 'your thoughts and tastes' to yourself.......
@inyobill I mean this without spite or aggression, that came across as nothing more than a one-dimensional, somewhat banal expression of a single preference. It was also clearly dressed up as insightful analysis.
Lovely song only issues is why would i want an advert for lady gaga's new song. I'd much rather have pins stuck in my ears than listen to that "women"
I'm not sure that I like this version of the song, or at least this rendition of it: The musical accompaniment is distracting, and takes away from these men's magnificent voices...
It's a sad thing that this form of song is not as well known as it should be. I'm in London now and I have been singing these songs for years in the pubs with choirs and groups around the land and yet now I hear none of it >.>
Although sad to hear the flute and guitar in there.... we just used to beat out on a table or bar(depending on how many glasses were the other side XD ). Sounds brilliant.
Great Group. Saw them live on beach recently, and just love them. However this production is very poor !!!
The obvious miming for the individual shots of singers is very poor, and ruins the whole video. Take it down somebody, for it ruins the ambience and presentation of the guys who deserve much better
Argghhh!! What have they done?!?!? They've stereotyped it up to the extreme and made it soo twee it's beyond belief! If you want to see how they should sound, search 'South Australia' and click on the first video.
@edmystro83 i totally agree some of this new stuff aint actually that good people just listen to it to fit in and stuff i still like to listen to some oldstyle music and im not afraid to say it
I had a mobile phone video of these guys sent to me, took me ages to work out who they were. Eventually had to ask Dad. But when their album come out I bought it ! It is the first CD I have bought in almost a decade. Download most of my music, but with guys they deserve all the credit they get and whatever they reap from their music
amazing im going to get the album when its out i can beleave that its just some fisherman who just sing in their local pub for fun and i wish them the best of luck
Hi this is Retrofan1 what this will do will give Port issac a new isound & send this album up the Charts & put Cornwall on the minds of fellow Fisherman everywhere in the UK My Ole Man would love this
I'm quite a fan of that guy at the end.
