Guys, this IS staged, however the botch is that the door was supposed to be locked after jericho exits. It's not and he accidentally pulled it back open and closed it back quickly. THAT is the botch. Not that he goes outside, but that the door didn't lock like it was supposed to.

I watched this in 1998. The door opens a little, but it could be one of those chain-locked doors that only opens as far as the chain when someone's trying to get in while it's locked. I think 99% of the audience watching it live wouldn't have noticed, so it's not much of a botch. It was supposed to be humorous, and Jericho was funny because he threw tantrums when things went wrong.
