  • That trip by McQueen is one of the most blatent penalties you'll ever see.....City were the better team on the day alas.

  • I want this video on my Deejay Flip unit.

  • Mighty Leeds

  • the commentator is amazing at 0:13 he says "but the refs view is better than mine" so different to now the refs get no respect

  • Great eventful game. City v Leeds games were always good especially at Elland Road. I've been there watching City and it's not for the faint of heart. How did McQueen stay on the pitch after that punch and that tackle which should have been a penalty? Probably because it was a tougher and different game back then. Good luck to Leeds getting back in the PL where they belong and playing City again.

  • The McQueen / Harvey was due to Gladys McQueen agitating for a move to scum to join up with his "close friend" Jordan who'd gone a week or so earlier. The Leeds fans knew what he was up to and gave him real stick. The other game was in the FA Cup a year or 2 earlier when Cherry scored in the last few mins to win 1-0, it was feckin mayhem and 1 of my top 3 memories of following LUFC as a kid. Quality vid though.

  • i remember elland road in the 70s going there as a kid you always felt you were on the edge of a riot especially against the clubs who brought a few fans. yes a different world - tackling was actually allowed!

  • Harvey wearing the red Scotland keepers jersey I believe.

  • so he chinned his own keeper, and the ref goes 'anymore of that and you're off' haha imagine that nowadays, briliant!

  • what you don`t see is Corrigan putting 2 fingers up to the kop behind his back after city`s second goal adding fuel to the fire and then the pitch invasion(most away fans i`ve seen at er credit to city)

  • that was the real british football. Good days.

  • Love the pipe smoking manager!

  • i'm a city and Dennis Tueart fan but loved McQueens' right hook

  • @nivlek44 Maybe you can help; I thought it was this game but obviously not as I think Leeds won 1-0, but the highlight was an absolutely superb save by Joe Corrigan, the ball was speeding into the top right hand corner and Joe was diving for it but Clarke(I think) got a head to it and somehow Joe changed direction and kept it out. He was an ace keeper-kept out of the national side by Shilton and Clemence. Today England hasn't got a keeper of a fraction of Joe's ability.

  • @infrasleep Corrigan's save was from another FA Cup game but in the previous season - 76/77.

  • The ref said stay off the pitch or the game will be abandoned..as Leeds weren't playing well and losing 2-0 at the time..I'm surprised the fans didn't actually try to get it abandoned by invading the pitch en masse.

Mind you City had some narrow escapes.

  • blimey i wish i could watch all the game . what a contrast to todays game . brilliant entertainment . im a city fan , but old leeds in the 70s were some boys wo ho .

  • Blimey. One sided game that...

  • mcqueen was a bit highly strung this day was he not

isn't harvey really ill at the moment?

  • I was there,You dont get that sort off noise today bring back the 70's...

  • i wish that i was around in these days, football matches nowa days you cant even stand up with out being arrested

  • first time I've seen it too since that day. Memorable trip home on the M62 City fans everywhere and uproar when the then popular Peter Swales came past our coaches in his car. Cloughies Forest put us out next round.

  • Remember the game well as I was half way up the Kop. Brilliant game and atmosphere to match, you don't see the guy who ran form the Lowfields and attacked Corrigan or the charge from the Kop. As a young guy I was crushed on the wall at the bottom of the kop had to climb over the wall for safety and was battered by the riot police fro doing so. I think the fences are installed at Elland Road as a result of this. The violence was depressing during those days.

  • A different world. Tueart and Bell wearing the 76-77 shirt and everyone else in the new v-neck... a packed ground... players and fans actually caring about the FA Cup.

Contrast with today's rubbish, a semi-reserve team ambling through a drab match in front of a two-thirds empty stadium. If there had been a pitch invasion at the Riverside today, one copper could've sorted it. The FA Cup is dead, RIP.

  • we still love you leeds. don't give up on us lads.

  • i was there too, first time i`ve seen this was probably too pissed off to watch motd, that`s the biggest away following i`ve ever seen at elland road

  • went to this game football hooligans at there best dont show the fan who started wi corrigan or all the mounted poilce that stopped our charge towards the city fans though lol wat a buzz

  • wE ARE LEEDS¬

  • Was it scary to be an away fan at Elland Road then? Or was it the same everywhere?

  • Comment removed

  • don't forget the odd kitchen sink

  • Wow.

    What a game...thanks for posting!!!!

I'm London Leeds and Elland Rd was such an intimdating place back then.

Respect to City for the numbers but my mate who was City said you kopped a spanking after the game.

But.....what a game and how good were some of those names.....legends.

  • I went to this as a young City fan and remember clearly Tueart's goal, Corrigan's brilliance and the pitch invasion. I didn't realise there were so many blues there though. We waited outside for a police escort that never came and then took our chances! Probably the most hostile match i've ever been to but great nontheless!

  • Just think the Ripper was on the loose...

  • Was at the game Brilliant times.Leeds bricked our coach on the way home.Shit myself coming out of the ground Leeds were hitting anyone without Leeds colurs

  • Absolute quality, thanks for posting. Takes you right back, glad I was around to experience the matchday experience of the 70s and 80s, not the same now.

  • The good old days-City won the match but paid for it outside -fucking bedlam afterwoods down Elland Road

  • I was also at this game....Bottles chucked over the walls at us and loads of fights outside.

  • Good following from city bet there was a some aggro after

  • I was there supporting City. I think we took about 15000 fans to that game. It was unbelievable. I remember the ball leaving Tueart's head and being buried under a sea of celebrating bodies before the ball hit the net!! There was TONS of violence outside though. Good ref.

  • bloody hell - how many fans packed on to the Kop in those days?!

    MOT

  • brilliant!! the good old days...good football with realistic refs.

  • You wouldn't know where to get the fa cup game from the year before (1977)Feb 26th. It was on match of the day.Leeds won this encounter, one of the best games I've been to.I went to this match, but didn't run on the pitch. Thanks for posting

  • never seen this before, thanks for posting,
