Unlike most of the people, I Really like this version alot more then the 2003 version. They stuck very close to the novel, and it was similar to the 86 versions where they actually seem to do something instead of standing around and waiting for special effects to take over.

Looks pretty epic but actors don't look good in my opinion. I liked the 2003 version casts better :) but might watch this when I get bored.

all the hsds series have some hot ass girls. This was prefectly done with alot more detail to scenary and settings, if you guys hadn't notice. it's made by the same producer as roch 2006. That's why it has the same feel to it and the dragon sabre is the same as Yang Guo's but the just cut it down to size so it will be more easier to carry around.

i know a lot of u guys don't like this movie because the main actor guy that plays zhang wu ji is not that good looking but give it a chance....he's a good actor...the more u watch it, the more u will like him

I absolutely loved the 2003 version because of the cast and the storyline. The scenery and fighting scenes really can't compare to the 2009 one. I liked both series but Alex Su is easier to look at...but man does the 2009 version showcase China's landscapes like no other! Both are pretty good, if you're not to picky with scenes and setting check out the 2003 and if you like the major eye candy and gorgeous special effects/epic feel check out the 2009.

I don't care how they look but the directing and acting better be good. But it looks more like a comic book production: all style and no substance. Will they be using real voices or will there be dubbing?

@angryjalapeno it's gonna have same feel as roch 06 because of same director. more detail into scenerio and such......lol, their is some type of melodramatic music playing in the backrgound like litterly every 3 min...it was alright first few ep..but then it just like...okay, enough with that shit already

i love alyssa chia, she is so hot and ask for the 2009 version, its pretty good. 2003 was good due to story line only, fight was gay. to much special effects. 2009 is way better.. hey dankaren95! stop talking shit, if u think u can do better then do it, otherwise shut up. no one is forcing u to watch any drama, so stop complaining.

Not surprisely, this is another mainland China disaster. As always, the main emphasis is on special effects and backgound scenary, nothing else. The cast, the acting, the choreography all SUCK, not to mention the usual time-wasting scenes used to convey just a minor point. Apparently, the stupid mainland Chinese don't learn anything from the TVB of the 80's & keeps repeatedly ruining all Jin Yong's great classics. People who like series produced by China are either very young or very stupid.

The 80s TVB versions were solid and even the 90s Demi Gods Semi Devils & Xiao Ai Jiang Hu were great.

The versions by Zhang ZiZhong are great in some ways but crappy in others. They have a grand feel and the locations and sets win over tvb hands down.

His earlier adaptations such as Legend of Condor Heroes and XAJH were excellent but were not as commercially successful as the later ones which he dumbed down. Unfortunately mass appeal often leads to watering down.

@bieduoluo, the TVB trilogy from the 1980s are pretty much gold standard. Actors can act, director can direct, composer can compose. But it has gone downhill since then I guess because they started valuing looks, cuteness, and connections over real talent? China seems to me to have exactly the same flaws but with a much bigger budget. I hope this new series is different.

I like the 2003 version alot but only because it was Alyssa Chia and Alec Su because I think they played the roles perfectly. But i do not like the graphic in 2003 it bothered me too much becasue it was so computerized But i don't know about this one either. So I would watch this only because i think Ady (the girl that play's Zhao Min) is going to be good not so sure about other actors or actresses.

They have made many variations of this story, but I must admit this version has the worst looking cast, especially the main male character. Let us wish they can better than the many previous versions made by mainland China.
