  • wats better N or G

  • @562Baudelio N.

  • @colinh25 If your american you pernounce it differently, in British we actually say 'Rooter' :P

  • Oh my goodness I'm sorry all you brits out there, I'm ashamed to be associated with Americans sometimes... its a love hate relationship.

  • What's the best broadband company in the UK? Is it Virgin Media?

  • @HU55UN1 I find Virgin Media the fastest and most reliable.

  • Yes, people, as you know, you "Americans" Speak English. We Pronounce words different in the UK, (How they should be), due to accents. We say Route like (Roote) End of, shut up.

  • @Southendaa Is it an accent thing? Or do the English just call it a rooter and the Americans a router (even though they spell it the same)? In Holland we use the American pronunciation (or word) nowadays. But when we got our first one, about 12 years ago, we actually called it a 'rooter'. At some point some people made it clear that it was wrong and that we should call it a router...

  • @kenjuma Yh in Enlgand w pronounce it "rooter"

  • Roota? haha :)

  • @4ncientfist Hmmm, sorry, no idea then.

  • @4ncientfist Are other things connected wirelessly at the same time. If a slow device is connected everything will slow to that speed.

  • @4ncientfist You need a better router with stronger or faster connection, or a better broadband provider.

  • how can i put a password on my network??

  • @mapimalucos2 You need to login to your router, it'll be in there.

  • Is this Router good for Tiscali?

  • For all who say it is pronounced "rowt-er" because it is derived from the word "route" please shut up. You are just embarrassing yourselves. Route is pronounced both "rowt" and "root." Look at Route 66.

  • @yknphotoman like the song..you say potato I say potato, you say tomato I say tomato ...lets call the whole thing off!!!

  • I am having problems connecting to the Internet even though I am picking up a signal with my wireless. What could be the problem

  • @liarky You need to check your connection on the modem is synced. If in doubt contact your internet provider,

  • you guys obviously know what he is talking about so what does it matter how he pronounces it? americans did not invent the internet.

  • I have a DS Lite, so WPA on my computer is not compatible. The thing is- I have WPA, not WEP, and I don't plan on changing to WEP, because it might mess up my internet settings. I've looked into getting a WiFi USB connector I seen ( Belkin F6D4050ed Wireless N150 USB Adapter. )

Now what I want to know is will this help me get on the internet giving me the Wi-Fi I need ( Even though my netgear wireless router is a WPA ) and if so will it affect my internet on my laptop that Im using now.

  • what the hell is a rooter

  • @proctor4883jay Same as a router ;)

  • Is that router available in the USA

  • can this unit be placed horizontally or is the desk stand permanently fixed to the unit?

i dont like how most N routers have internal antennas nowadays. Id much rather have external antennas, but for my setup placing it flat is much better and more stable than placing it vertically

  • Governor, the word router is derived from the word "route - to direct or arrange for somebody or something to follow a particular course"

I am born and bred English sunshine. I don't need pronunciation lessons. Besides the US invented the internet, so you should pronounce it their way.

I simply think for someone to come across as a reviewer who knows what they are talking about, at least pronounce the item you are reviewing correctly.

  • @nigeltc76 I stand corrected I am a reviewer who knows what he is talking about :) thanks for your comment.

  • Its pronounced "Rout-er" you moron. Rooter is someone who has sex.

You like in the Queens England, why don't you learn to speak the Queens English!

  • @nigeltc76 I don't normally respond to comments like this, but for someone who does not live in the UK you really do not know. I have never heard anyone here say it like you do in the US.

  • @davomrmac

In certain parts of the U.S. they sound like they have suffered a serious stroke. They do not have an official language and amazingly in this day and age they have the highest illiteracy rate in the West. Providing them with technical support is a nightmare. Most of them cannot change a fuse in a common household plug. Don't believe me? Ask around..

  • @davomrmac haha sorry you had to get that comment. I think it's funny the way you say it, as I'm sure visa versa. how much is internet service in england? say..5 mb/s?

  • @chromecrescent 5-8Mbs costs around £20 per month. I am on 50Mb/s and that costs me £34 for the broadband and my telephone service.

  • @nigeltc76 dumb americans think their way is best as usual...

  • how many meters or kilometers go belkin n router without the addition, of two antennas

  • would using cat6 cables with this help the speed any?

  • i have this exact router and it was working fine but my sister bought a laptop and now i need to type in a password to use it with my ipod touch and my sisters laptop's keyboard was all fked up and it got returned and the pass is still on the router but i dont know what it is can someone please repond?

  • thanks

  • ho can i find my wep code ive been trying to find it for my ps3 for hours already

  • @ozzyexo You may have set this in the security tab of the router. You need to log into the router control panel.

  • i have kind of a weird question but do u need a computer to use a wireless router

  • @avera210 No, you could use it with just an iPod (for example), though a computer may be needed for the initial setup.

  • do u need a computer with da router to play online like on a ps3 or wii

  • @avera210 No, like I said, it'll work just with the PS3. But you may need a computer to do the initial setup of the router.

  • @davomrmac o thanks itz cuz i got a wii and i already have a router but it dosent connect if u kno how to fix dis problem den please reply backk

  • @avera210 there should be a reset button behind a hole. That will set factory defaults, then set up the router from there and everything should work.

  • will it work with online gaming

  • @MRCHEWY100 Yes.

  • get linkesy

  • what if the modem light is blinking orange?

  • @TheRickyrick99 This is when something needs attention.

  • How do you unlock it? Cause I'm having serious problems with mine!!! T^T

  • i have a modem connected to my phone line can i still use the (F5D8236uk4) version will it still work?????

  • i was just messing with ya man :) LOL

  • @mushfarm ;) I know :)

  • what is a rooter? i thought it was a router?

  • @mushfarm 'rooter' is the UK pronunciation of the word.

  • @davomrmac it sounds like to me they need to learn how to read then

  • IT'S A ROOTAH!

  • is broadband required for this

  • @Abul4lyf Yes.

  • @Abul4lyf I have DSL (windstream) and i can use this

and would you get better speed or is the same. thanks !!

  • great review! just what i need to know, Range, performance. What´s the voltage of the power adapter?

  • would a router like this slow down an adsl2+ connection over a distance like 10-15 metres

  • Linksys are terrible. Read the online reviews. Belkin is working great....

  • linksys is the way to go because belkin has random disconnections. also linksys is made by cisco...the people who are genius with networking and internet

  • dont buy this router for three days i tried to get it working.could not get it working for mw2 online or to work on the xbox 360 at all.brought back to pc world got a netgear in instead had my laptop playstation 3 and xbox workin in an hour. if u want hassle free set up netgear n is the job.you are warned ,and im computer savy and was on to belkin for two hours.opened all ports firewall etc

  • @richiewhe you are wrong it works perfect with 3 laptops and a ps3 you just doing smthing wrong

  • Agreed, especially since it is on the approved list for routers on the xbox support site...

  • I have to laugh when people post a negative review of a piece of hardware because they cant setup and configure it properly. I don't own this router but I am watching video reviews to help me make a decision. It was likely some simple setting you missed. In fact, I'm willing to bet most people wouldn't have issues setting it. Typically the harder it is to setup then the better the features. I used to own a D LINK gamers lounge router and that was the case.

  • @richiewhe same here.

  • mine works just fine for mw2 and halo or any other game

  • can the Belkin 54g router connect to the internet up to 2 computers around the house?

  • @ThrenodyHate Yes it can.

  • if i want a wireless router, do i just buy it on its own and connect to phone line? or must i also have a modem that connects to phone line and THEN to the wireless router? my internet is adsl2+

  • There are two types of internet. Some are a service that requires you to run a phone line into a router/modem hybrid. Other services supply you with a modem and you plug it into the router.

You should contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to find out which to get.

  • hey i have a question. i have the belkin n wireless router model f5d8236 V3, the wired works great but the wireless light wont come on and i cant get it to come on. what do i do? please help

  • i have the same problem, i have no idea how to fix it

  • you need to connect a device to your router, like a laptop or a mobile and then it should light up

  • Comment removed

  • -_- yes

  • do you get a lifetime warrenty with all belkin models? i just got this router because my other belkin died on me?? Plus i had some problems with this one my internet seems slower using this router and i normaly play the ps3 while i download but doing the 2 things at the same time with this router i have no chance, its so slow and my iphone cant even connect, Any tips advice etc would be a great help

  • how do u set up this router

  • Via a Wizard or Web Interface.

  • @davomrmac i have a question. does this router give u better gaming experience. cuz i have the belkin g plus and i lag. does this router help u not lag? or do we need a modem to help not lag?

  • It is not really down to the router. More the speed, quality of your connection and distance to the exchange.

  • @davomrmac hey i bought this router and my my internet speed really slowed down when wireless over xbox live but when my xbox is wired to the router speeds are back to being fast again, any tips on how I can solve this problem.

  • @crazyphil101 just use the wire

  • ring belkin support

  • how to use an ipod with this router

  • It possible use usb as print server??? Thx :)

  • how do i check my wep key because when i go to the config page and go to wireless security it dosent show my wep

  • same here with me..so i created my own wep..just create ur own wep..it will work.

  • Right i need some help!!!!! Anybody please! My isp (Orange uk) have checked my line and apparently my estimated speed is 2.0 meg. Is that good or bad? because i think its bad seemign as all my friends nearby are downloading at speeds of 7.5 mbps? im confused why mine is only 2?

  • You are probably further away from the telephone exchange than them. However, Orange estimated a 2mbit line to my house and I often got much faster.

It's a shame Orange sucks so it has became slower and slower, unlikley to even play YouTube anymore! Crap.

  • thats baaaaad lol

  • Question to the poster, Can this router be connected to the DSL/modem via wireless? rather than with a cable?

  • no that isn't possible with this router

  • i have this router and i cant connect to xbox live.

i have done everything that every web site has asked me to do, i have called my ISP (bigpond), bigpond and xbox live and yet nothing.

    any tips?

  • @jjmackay101 omg me too SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

  • we are in England (UK( and thats how we say it

explore things before commenting on it

  • pls help....does the speed from your cable company effect the speed of the wireless device???

  • YES, the faster you want the most it will cost you from your ISP provider. Comcast and qwest...the DSL/modem also has to support higher speeds. The right DSL/modem for the right speed.

  • Dont buy it pplz! u get hacked from this shlllt!

  • is this router compatible with gaming systems(like the ps3) and the iPod Touch??????????

  • Yes.

  • how do you know?

because im am having alot of problems.

  • This router will get around 140 mbps wirelessly if you have security turned off. With security on however, forget it, it only reaches 25 to 30 mbps. Also if you connect a USB drive you will only get 18 to 25 mbps, connecting the same drive directly to my computer and I get 250 mbps. The processing power of the unit is not good enough to deliver anywhere near a decent performance with security on and the supplied storage manager software is very very slow. I am returning mine.

  • great vid man, im was thinking about going out and buying it the review was awesome

for the rest of the ppl..: You can tell by his accent that he would pronounce things differently than we do so try not to comment about that, ok?

  • you say router so funny. its cool. rooter lol omg im laughing hard.

  • its router not rooter like hooter

  • I am in the UK and that is how we pronounce it.

  • if you were smart, you would know that router is pronounced two ways period. the base word ROUTE is prounced as ROOT and ROwT. Time to go back to highschool :p

  • is this modem good for xbox 360???

  • what the hell is a rooter i thought it was a router

  • That is the way the England people say it. Its their accent. We say router, they say rooter.

  • Are Belkin N Wireless routers compatible with xbox 360's yet?

  • Belkin routers are cheap and you have to go through so much hassle to even make it secure!

  • does it work for ps3? and how far is the range?

  • Works fine with my PS3. My range PS3->Belkin is about 10m.

  • thats about the size of a house right?

  • Yes it is.

  • I need a router for gaming, we have 2 360's and 3 computers (2 wired, 1 wireless) on the network. Would this be suitable, anyone?

  • I have hooked up my 360 wirelessly and it works fine with a strong signal from about 25m away, i got 2 wired pc's connected to it with 1Gps speed and my wireless pc aboout

40m away with 300mbps and gaming on all the pc works really well.

  • i am looking to buy a router and after watching this u have made me choose this one. 5*

  • how do i change my NAT to open?

  • man this is bogus...everytime i put in the installation disk i get an error and it wont work

    system error 214669204

  • can u pls tell me what does the lights means if its blinking white/blue on the sign of usb? and i cant connect to the inernet..thnks

  • Anybody have any idea about the Belkin routers not working correctly with flashing lights.

  • Great review Dave. I just picked up one of these as I needed more range. It's astonishing how far the signal goes!

  • Awesome review Dave.

Do you know if you could use a usb flash drive with that usb port instead of a hdd?

  • You most certainly can.

  • Nice review!

  • my belkin wirless adapter broke so i bought a netgear wireless modem

  • Great review, Dave! Keep it up! By the way, I bought a router similar to this and it only cost $60, which is about 30 or 35 pounds i the UK I believe.

  • I had a similar router and as far as I can tell Belkin are the worst company to use. It seems to varies to each person. I seen people with wonderful things to say about it and people who had horrible. I had problems with port-fowarding on the router and DMZ not working. The range and speed on the thing was amazing but it was the small things which I relied on which made me switch back to a £18 TP-Link Router.

This one is newer than mine so I assume.

Great Review anyway as usual dave.
