  • I remember loving the design in "The Hunted" but yeah, I've seen a few reviews and you just can't beat basic, simple knife design.

  • is it a full tang blade?

  • Comment removed

  • @ajhnson

Yeah, but for the most part you're comparing a $50 blade to a $150+. Cold Steel is fine for the price.

  • a giant disappointment that a legend like TB would attach his name to that travesty of a knife. That double-profile is a classic boner. It's like trying something other than "round" for a wheel. Its just plain stupid. You're way too kind, Sean. Use words like "crap" idiotic" "ill-conceived" "stupid" "waste-of-money" etc. :o) LOL

  • They both suck but I would bet all I have on the fact that the Tracker is made of far superior steel than his Aussie p.o.s.I like finger grooves and my outback is just as tough as any Australian;it's called the Everglades,he's biased to his piece of junk just like most people would be with their own but it's not a good knife either and it's pretty damn ugly;you can make a great knife and make it look good too.

  • @blitzspeer australian?

  • I would prefer the SFK over the Tracker any day of the week.

  • For the almost the same weight and less price as a Tom Brown Tracker i could carry a Buck Hoodlum, a Sawvivor, and a 7 inch bladed Ka-bar. The Tom Brown Tracker is over-hyped, overpriced, overweight, undersized and limited in versatility.

  • Your knife reminds me of a modified Golok, I purchased a TBT and sold it a week later. I would rather carry my machete and SAK One Hand Trekker. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the vids.

  • @seanmulhall thats a beautiful mirror polish on your knife

  • a good kukri knife is all you need !

  • and the biggest complaint I have with it is the weight. It is a heavy beast. I have spent some time looking for another survival knife that is lighter that would be more favorable to carry but I will still keep the TBT. Thanks for the review and don't let the negative bozos get you down!

  • @urticadog

Every one is entitled to their opinions and I welcome that. I do not remove comments unless they are abusive or attack someone else. I have learnt more from the negative comments because they often offer advice. Some people just like to insult which does not benefit anybody, but probably makes them feel big and makes up for their own inadequacies.

  • @urticadog hey man have you ever tried the cold steel srk. its pretty light weight and can hold its own. i have found it to get the job done. you should check out some reviews to get an idea of its capabilities. i also recommend the becker bk2 but since weight is an issue for you im sure youd be interested.

  • @DjSkyfaze i meant you wouldnt be interested lol my mistake

  • Wow. You guys need to lighten up! I like the hat. (I have a tie-dyed Tilley that goes good with my camo coat.) He obviously has a preference and has used one before. He clearly states that he has never used the TBT. So it is a little biased. Big deal. I own an older TBT before TOPS made them -- mine was made by Beck. But he does show some limitations of the TBT. It does have a learning curve to be effective with it. I think the TBT is a good all around tool (cont)

  • your a douche

  • does anyone know where i can buy just the sheath that comes with the tom brown T1

  • please tack some more shit on your hat.

  • TBT works for me Sean. But its like marmite i guess. Very fair review.

  • both these knives are ridiculous designs.

  • I know a lot of people don't like this knife, myself included, but come on. That chopping demo was just ridiculous. Are you saying that you personally don't know how to use a knife with a curved blade? In any case, I don't think I'd use the Tracker anyway, it just seems a bit expensive for what it actually does. For serious bushcraft, you really can't beat a custom, but the knife is only useful if you know how to use it.

  • @SuperUltra64

I did say in the video it could be my technique but in my opinion its chopping performance is compramised by it shape and design.

  • @seanmulhall On closer examination, I agree. The odd grind especially limits its usefulness. I stand corrected, the small chopping surface of the blade was responsible for it's poor performance, not your technique. I guess things like that are hard to notice unless I actually did the test myself.

  • @SuperUltra64

I know many people love this knife and would choose this as their one survival knife. Personally its not for me.

  • @SuperUltra64 When you chop with a TBT the instinctive contact point would be right at that notch. According to the manual, you're supposed to angle & distance it so the chopping point falls somewhere on the curved edge, which is NOT instinctive. IMHO the knife is not terrible, just gimmicky.

  • Combat arms Tracker knife :D

  • nice hat not lol

  • further, you chop harder with your knife, and longer. offhand, theres a reason they call a draw knife a draw knife, as opposed to a whittle knife. to be fair, i have used neither knife, but they both look to be great knives. my complaint is with the silly demonstrations.

  • And the chopping... dude, if that's how you chop wood with a knife, you must have a fucked up wrist.... common sense. grab another peice of wood or a rock and tap the back of the blade like a chisel. I'm not a Bear Grylls fanatic, but there are plenty of examples of using a knife to chop things in this manner on various episodes of his tv show. I think ppl are missing the point of the tracker knife - it was made to perform many tasks adequately to survive, insead of being specialized.

  • i made a youtube account just so i could comment on how stupid this is. Where do i start... oh, how about a shout out to eatsmooth - right on. the hat looks ridiculous dude. you look like some yuppie who thinks wearing animal claws and feathers and shit will make ppl think you know what you're talking about. On top of that you repeatedly comment on the fact that your knife is an inch longer.... really??? compensating for something there guy?

  • While both knives have similarities to bolos, kukris, parangs, etc,. I prefer your knife and I own the Tracker which like many I purchased the day "The Hunted" was released. It was filmed where I live so I got one. I have a knife similar to yours, though admittedly it has been somewhat redesigned from its original appearance. This is a good review and fair. People either tend to love or hate the TBT. The design of your knife allows greater force to contact the surface.I want YOURS!!!!

  • COMPLETELY different manner of force used in the chopping.. what a joke. REVIEW FAIL.

  • I have also never seen Tom Brown use or promote this knife. I much prefer a Mora and a folding pruning saw as my bush equipment. The Mora company makes a 6" carbon bladed knife with a full tang and wood handle, but after much searching to find a seller I only found one. Ragweed forge dot com for $20 + $6 shipping and the $6 shipping is all you pay no matter how many items you buy. Great place to shop!

  • I've had a T1 for over 3 years. I had to remove the powder coat paint in the same area as this guy did on his. Then I radically deepened the notch to make it more useful. I thinned the cutting edges a lot in an effort to make a better angle for a more keen edge. My 14 yr old son likes the look of the thing. All in all. I hate this knife. It does nothing very well, will not hold an edge, I can't skin game with it and it's a major pain to sharpen in the field. Gave it to my son.

  • Super review! Thanks.

  • Everyone should wastch the entire review before commenting. He gives a fair and balanced review.

  • The Tom Brown Tracker was designed for the movie "The Hunted" and that's where it should have stayed.

It is the worst knife design I've seen in years.

I would use it as a tent peg if I were desperate because that useless secondary bevel will catch on everything and frankly is an accident waiting to happen.

    Total hype.

  • You are obviously not trying as hard when chopping with the TB, it is clearly an efficient shape, yours looks ok too, but IMO having the cutting edge so far from the handle on your knife, means a loss off efficiency, demonstated when you are feathering, whereas the TB has the best of both worlds. To be fair, no one used to bushcraft would only have one device, they would have an axe and a knife, which these knives try to be and fall short.

  • The Tom Brown Tracker looks pretty weak, your knife also looks very unconventional with the shape and handle....Have you tested any bowie type knives?

  • and the winner is........THE BEAR GRYLLS KNIFE

  • look at 7:19 then look at 9:14 theirs a hug difference in force u uses for chopping. u crippled the tom brown tracker knife.

  • To me, the Tom Brown Tracker is a bow and arrow making tool. Everything on it says primitive bowyer. That little curved area on the juncture where the two cutting edges meet would be good for shaping the shafts. The saw back is for notching not sawing.

  • Are you Near an Airport?

  • hey great rv Sean. i was considering this knife.the chopping certainly is not the best. i will keep looking.

ever looked at the Parry blade? its an english knife made in sheffield that has good reviews thus far.

  • I watched this twice and it looks like you're putting alot more effort into chopping with your knike than with the tom brown knife. I think if i was in the woods in a survival situation, a good hatchet would be a little more useful than a heavy knife..

  • Its worth 20 dollars not 220

  • Tom Brown tracker knife is the shitty version of yours. Plain and simple I have not held either but the fact you have that cutting area on the flat side with more roll off to the blade (your's will barely get stuck) I must commend you for a great looking knife. And all these people say you are biased? Well education eliminates that when you know from experience and you just exposed the Brown like many others already have. It's Hollywood like rambo plain and simple good luck!

  • lets all just ignore the fact that he actually swings with his knife

  • nothing like a good kukri !

cheap, reliable and you can cut a persons head off if your in that sort of business ! ;)

im trying to get an "american eagle kukri".

your knife looks very good but

you need to improve the sheet in order to make it a successful product !

look for "hedgehog leather works" site,if you come up with a sheet like that+your knife even if its expensive people will buy it !

people are not only looking for a knife but an "image" and if you can provide both you win !

  • i think it all pertains to yo and your personal comfort level and what your used to or have the most muscle memory with

  • I could take what you have to say more serious, if you didn't have all that shit stuck in your hat.

  • @eatsmooth

What does my hat have to do with my opinion on a knife.

  • @seanmulhall I really like your hat. Personalized items hold a charm i like. Have a good one fella

  • @eatsmooth wow that exposes you as a total ignoramus. Have you not learned about individuality yet? and did you know some of those pieces of "shit" in his hat, could be very meaningful to someone and some consider Talismen? obviously you need some education. Comments should have a mechanism to determine intelligence. Eatsmooth missed class for TV.

  • The TBT's edge is.....well... a bit strange at least. That's mildly and positively said.I don't understand this design at all.Unwieldy,awkard.What more...But I'm not fan of Tops knives at all after having owned 5 different designs with all the same problem .Too thick near the edge. This TBT 'knife is more like a misfit axe.And an axe outchops this 'knife' easily

  • Urs look like a parang.

  • Dude, you can't review your own work. Obviously you think it's better.

  • i got as far as 4.20 and had to stop watching. This guy is SO boring he fades into the trees! Get some personality Mr Silver Rat or whatever your name is, you are the least professional 'instructor' I have ever seen. See Nutnfancy's review of the Tom Brown Tracker (he doesn't like it much either!) for a more entertaining video.

  • @larjanus-check out more of silver fox's vids. nutnfancy's got nutn on this guy, cept sarcasm and a dog.

  • Comment removed

  • Most knives usually come up short in one or two areas but the Tom Brown Tracker is truly remarkable because it fails in every feature except appearence. As far as I know the Tom Brown Tracker is the first knife to be over weight, over priced, impossible to sharpen with a completly dysfunctional blade shape to boot. The Tracker is a great example of function following form.

  • The plane in the background adds a certain authenticity

  • I love my tracker. saved my life.

  • the tooth on the tbt is useless and only there as a gimmick. what is the need to phyically seperate the convex edge from the straight section? The TBT is a joke and not worth 200 bucks

  • I really dont like the way the TBT has the two different blade types on one edge. That seems like it would make it a pain in the ass to sharpen. I like one edge pieces personally.

  • @alinzana

  • the tom tracker is one of the most over rated knives ever. it is the desert eagle of survival knives. leave it in your zombie survival kit, because if you have cool enough gear, then the movie ends with you alive

  • @fosterssucks yes and it weights in at a wrist wrenching 2lbs.

  • You can grab the audio-mp3 of this video at grabtubesnow doht cohm.

  • those airplanes are the americans preparing to drop bombs to take northsea oil

  • first of all, i love your videos as well as your knife. however, i do not believe that you were completely biased in this review. in the chopping portion, you can clearly see more physical effort put forth with your knife than the TBT. lastly, you have to take into account the weight difference between the SFK and the TBT as well as the fact that the TBT is mass manufactured, compared to your knife which is custom made to your specifications. i do own a TBT, but am looking for something better

  • Love your accent

  • Sorry but you do not know how to chop wood and I have a meat cleaver that would be better then either one. TBT is a POS at best.

    cheers

  • Dude, Your knife is so.... Bleh though. The Tracker has a serated edge, draw edge, a chopping edge and a splitting edge. Yours has ... OH WHATS THAT? A BLADE? NO ONES EVER THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE....

  • The tom brown tracker looks like a weird Khukri style knife, and and I believe Khukris should be sharpened with different angles and edge grinds for different parts of the blade. It seems like the tracker is designed with that in mind, but I don't think they've been able to improve the Khukri. Sean has made his knife to suit his needs, why compare his knife to a non-custom knife?

  • You cut it back in forth with your knife,,and only straight on with the tracker :( no fun sir

  • Can your knife be purchased anywhere? If so, how much is it and is it sold in the USA.?

  • yours is nice, what is it?

  • your biased for your knife...i have a tom brown tracker and it works perfectly...i have noo problems chopping wood. you dont use it right

  • @ListeN253

I did say in the video it could be my technique, but I still stand by my opinion that the chopping part is too curved.

  • @seanmulhall the design of the tracker is for specific tasks and you do have to use an unconventional chop to get the full effect of the knife. In my opinion there are many more knives that are lighter and will do all the tasks a tracker can do and they are cheaper. so for me the knife is more of a movie hype knife thats not as usefull as a well designed knife for the same money can be.

  • @ListeN253 you are right , he is not using right the TB, and i can see his poin : ohh mine have same shape , same steel.. mine is better ... oh i did't know TB did make this knife

  • @ListeN253 Everyone is entitled to there opinion just cause you love your knife doesnt mean others will!

  • wdf 32 mins to review a knife? ...

  • dude nice hat holy shitt

  • your knife is a better design as far as i can see...although i do love tops products. your knife displays better chopping characteristics than the tracker. like a BIG nessmuk style or a parang. i live in canada and spend a lot of time in the bush and would put a knife like yours through it's paces......got an e-mail or website? i'd like to talk to you about ordering one of your knives. how much? aussie dollars?

  • your knife is a better design as far as i can see...although i do love tops products. your knife displays better chopping characteristics than the tracker. like a BIG nessmuk style or a parang

  • the only thing i dont like about your knife is the end of the handle lanyard thing, kindof useless imo

  • classic hat lol. I agree with the 2 different profiles wreaking the useful part of the knife. Its a bit gimmicky in my opinion.

  • agree with your review on the tracker, i like its reliablity, and its a very dependable knife, but I honestly think its a bit over priced(trying to be fair here lol) but I just am not all that impressed, I would think it would be very possible to constantly hit the gap between the two blades, now I havent used one, so I cannot fully talk about its functionality, but thats just how it appears to me

  • The Ka-bar "potbelly" is similar to the tracker knife but I think it's a better design! It is probably a lot cheaper then the tracker knife as well. If you haven't seen it, I think you should give it a look because it's worth it.

  • should stop camping next to the fucking airport

  • I know you said you don't particularly care for the scandi edge but it really can't be beat for carving, it looks like yours would be really great if you slaped a scandi grind on it, looks wonderful for chopping!

  • "ads by google" before the actual vid starts is annoying to wait through.

  • It wasn't a fair review because all of a sudden you can't handle the Tom Brown correctly? that part was rubbish, any idiot would know how to use the chopping part of the blade. I have chopped with the full part with no problem. Lets also keep in mind that Tom Browns knife has been used by countless bushmen.

Lastly , pick an accent, you can't be both english and australian, and dude lose the hat the whole crocodile dundee bit is childish.

  • Both knives are crap, just get a Fallkniven A2. Bam, perfect knife right there.

  • Sean,If you were to sell you're knife for double the price of the Brown i'd still buy yours. You can't beat custom. Tom Brown was made to reap profits where yours was made for comfort and to get the job done!.

  • @ontariosurvivor

I would like to get my knife made but I wouldn't want to compromise on the quality control I get from my custom knife maker. If I can find a manufacturer that can offer me the quality at a fair price then the knife will be made.

  • @ontariosurvivor

    Very true!

  • @ontariosurvivor there's a knife maker in Branson Missouri at a place called silver dollar city that will make you whatever shape or design you desire and after he is done he shoots the knife at point blank range with a dessert eagle .50 cal to prove its quality...all his knives are Damascus style

  • @draggngmac386 he should post that video on youtube. ide like to see that lol.

  • @ontariosurvivor so you would pay $600 for his knife? i personally like the tom brown better and i wouldnt even pay the $300 they ask for it. ide rather get more knife for my money. not pay more money for my knife

  • @SilverWPhoenix i know a place where they have one for $100 :D

  • @theNICAguy Nice. I just bought myself a ka-bar kukri. im liking it sofar but i havent got to test it out all that much. but im looking for a good sevival blade before i buy one, something close to what i want. i like the idea of having to kinda edges on a knife, one for chopping and one for splitting and finer work. but i dont really like the saw, or the guthook on the tom brown. any sugestions?

  • @SilverWPhoenix i mean actually for a survival heavy duty knife, the tom brown is about as good as it gets. another option is the hawkes helion or even the ka-bar tactool but those are kind of pricey

  • well that knife is a total piece of shit,

  • This guy gives the term junkhead a whole new meaning

  • you dont chop right at all with the tom brown tracker, but with your own "tracker" you chop the right way..

  • the tom brom and the red scorpion six knife are both way to over priced i dont beleive urs sean looks anything like it but thats just me i forged my own version of the tracker and it works just as good and it only coast my 10$ at a scrap yard for the medal i use to make it :}

  • @importssuckazz Id love to see a picture of your knife.

  • @importssuckazz , I Seriously doubt you made a Tom Tracker knife out of 10 $ scrap metal. Let alone have the carbon steel and straight edge to split wood. I seriously want to see this 10 dollar knife, because I'm calling bullshit.

  • YOur knife is reminicent of a Golok..... A very good design to work off of..... The Tom Brown knife is a friggin Joke.... Like the Man who lent his name to it.... Both are Proven Frauds.. Read up a little on Tom Brown Jr... Dude has been outed as a complete and total fraud who invented a childhood that never existed... Nor did "Grandfather" or his imaginary friend "Rick"...

BTW, your knife is hands down superior.. But that is to be expected since the TBT is a hollywood fantasy knife.

  • most one-sided review ever.

  • Good Review!

  • lol, damn plane

  • Wuts up Sean! Hope all is well. ~Wolf

  • @FatDaddy4Fun

    Life is great.

  • @seanmulhall I am glad to hear that brother.

  • (cont'd) Your blade has the forward-placed mass to make it a good chopper (in addition to having the flared pommel for the leuku style chopping action). The downside, however, is your choice of a convex grind. Great grind for chopping, not so good for carving, like fuzz sticks. Do you mind if I make one with a single bevel grind, to see how she fares?

  • @Makermook I have no objections. I prefer the convex for my knivesand I can make very fine feather sticks with my smaller convex edged knives. I have now perfected my feather sticks with the SFK too.

  • Sean, I like your knife so much more than the TBT. Then again, I've never used either specifically, but I've made and used plenty of knives. The TBT puts that ridiculous stepoff right at the sweet spot for chopping, and don't even get me started on the swa teeth on the back. (cont'd)

  • Your knife looks to be a lot easier to control and I like how the blade is on the flat side. Nice review

P.S. Sounds like you're right in a flight path... hahaha

  • Tom Brown Tracker Knife, its youst for show off

  • Your knife looks more practical than that other one. That "step" on the other one is right at the sweet spot of the blade. It looks like it would be a real pain to sharpen.

  • I bought a TBT when they first came out, and was not impressed! After having a friend of mine who is a custom knifemaker do some work on it I was more pleased with the performance. I later purchased a custom version of the knife and the difference was night and day.

  • I would be interested in tne specs on your custom TBT. What were the changes you made?

  • Hi Sean, I purchased Roger Lingers Wilderness Survival knife about 2 years ago and it has been my constant companion in the bush. The knife is made from 1075 steel and has a micarta handle. The first difference I noticed is the blade has a higher convex grind on the primary cutting edge that in my opinion makes it cut more like I knife and less like an ax. Secondly, the saw on the back is bi-directional which seems to cut better for its intended use.

  • Thirdly, the handle has a pronounced finger guard and the steel in the handle section has a distal taper to almost nothing at the end giving it the much needed weight forward feel that the Tops TBT is missing. Also the sides of the handle scales are scalloped to give it a much more comfortable feel.

  • Sounds like some interesting variiations.

  • Your observations about the chopping edge in the video at 7:00 to about 9:00 or so are the same things I noticed when I first saw this knife online. To me, a knife with this shape is designed to chop. If it can't do it, it's not worth buying. I'm glad you made this vid to demonstrate it for me before I spent over $200 on it. Thanks :)

  • i think this knife is way to hyped up

  • Fair review, "in my humble opinion"

Speaking as ex Para Reg, why does every ex Army guy think that they are the most skilled outdoorsman? truth is you dont really learn that much self reliance in the job as you have always been gifted with resupply. ex mil types seem to want to always knock the civvie outdoorsman for some reason. It strikes me Sean has never claimed to have had a mil back ground nor do I guess need one for that matter

Keep up the good work of bringing the craft to the masses

  • Thank you, and you are right. I do not have any military back ground. I was not in the scouts and I have never attended a bushcraft course. I am totally self taught by being out in the woods and practice

  • @pegasusltd Hear, hear!!! I learned more bushcraft, survival and pioneering skills as a boy scout (Eagle) than I ever did in the military. Sean is down to earth and if you listen, even his hat tells a story. Don't be intimidated if your favorite knife doesn't make someone else's grade. If it suits you, fine. Sean simply stated that the TBT didn't suit him.

  • @pegasusltd Miitary are usually programmed to very small definition. Civies are ready for anything..

No joke. Mil types are insecure big babies that kill babies.

  • either you love it or hate it!

  • its crocodile dundee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol just kidding. good vid man.

  • an axe is 4 chopping

  • THE TOM BROWN IS CRAP AND U ALL KNOW IT

  • Every knife I have ever used has it's uses. As far as the comparison between these two specific knives, their purposes are on different sides of the fence. The Tom Brown is an all around, multi purpose tool, that Silver Fox knife appears( as I have not tried it out yet) to be a chopper. I see it can be used as a draw knife, but a very large one.

  • This review is clearly bias, because you didnt even try to chop correctly with the Tom Brown, it was clear in your body language while using it. (Maybe you wanted it to fail because you know your knife is best as a chopper, and dont want the Tom Brown to compare) As far as using the Tom Brown as a draw knife, I personally have had no problems with being cut while doing so, but then again, neither has my 7 year old, just add a little common sense to your practices and it isnt a problem...

  • I mean really all the Silver Fox is, is a Khukuri blade with the bend removed from it, which actually lessens its effectivness for chopping, which the khukuri is designed for!

  • I don't like the Tracker knife design, but to it's defense, TOPS knives grinding is crappy. Works better with a full convex edge.

  • im not an expert and i dont mean to call you out because you clearly know more then me but your chopping is all wrong your hitting it with the wrong part of the blade. Your suppose to hit it with the 3.5in curved part that the actually chopping part the other part is the carving part.

  • I am aware of that but the angle of the blade makes it impracticle to cut there. I did change my position and did say it may be my technique but this knife just did not suit me.

  • ya i guess its just different strokes for different folks. i do kno that ive been to wilderness survival, sapper school in the army and over seas in iraq for 18 months and the knife has done its done without fail everytime WHILE maintain a great edge. in the 4 yrs ive owned it ive sharpend it once. and its still razor sharp....

  • Yes, the Tom Brown is far more versatile than a straightend up khukuri from nepal!! As a matter of fact, if i was going to be chopping for a long period of time, I would bring my khukuri before the silver fox, but thats just me.

  • Hey man, I love the bush you're in.....where is it?

  • I live in Somerset and these woods are near Bristol.

  • whats your longest in the bush at one time?

  • 5 days. I have many work and family commitments. I am working towards taking a longer break soon.

  • your knife is twice the knife that other piece of shit is

  • Thanks

  • Just got my Tom Brown Tracker (mini version) and found out it had one handy feature that your silverfox doesnt have. It makes a frikkin awesome roach clip.

  • I dont know what a roach clip is, sorry. Can you explain?

  • you use it to smoke the last little bit of a left handed ciggarette

  • Please know that im not trying to be disrespectful. I like your videos and appreciate what you do. Your knife seems to be well built, I was just making an observation.

  • No offence taken, I just didnt know the term Roach clip. Are you sure about the left handed cigarette? Thanks

  • woolly mammoth an lifeofanoutcast are the only ones with brains. in your poor atepmt to make it fair u discedit your self. your striking patterns per knife are not similar, u let the weight of the knive and ur downward motion "chip" at the wood(as you call it), while you forcefully strike it with yours!! don't misunderstand, im sure both knives are excellent, however u should have reviewed your video before you posted it.

  • @vetoTHEvito

I disagree with your comment. With the first few chops with the TBT I am using the same force. After that I am chopping lighter because I am looking at the point of impact, so therefore I am making a lighter slower chop. You can see this clearly in the video. Admittidly I do chop more with my knife, but it does not detract from the fact that the curve on the TBT is too steep and therefore a hinderance when chopping. Thanks

  • hey sean you should tie you shoes. real woodspeople know that your feet are you best peice of kit better than any knive. aswell you dont know know to use a knive properly, i was very surprised that you didnt cut yourself when you try to awl by your nuts. i spent 10 years in the army 6 of those as a recce engineer. i have under gone countless weeks of survival training and despite all of you videos you seem to be a hoax

  • Im not sure how to respond to you. Im not a military person nor do I claim to be or a survivalist. I do have 100+ videos and countless nights and days out in the woods living and practicing bushcraft. I also currently have 3000 subscribers who appreciate what I do. I did notice you do not have any videos online so I cannot compare what I do to you. Sorry you do not like my vidoes.

  • Sorry but this was not a fair review. Clearly you use the TBT with less effort. If you want to show off your knife, just show it off. It detracts from your reputation by claiming that this is a fair review. You do a great job in most of your videos & I support you 100%. Yes, I have watched this video several times before posting this comment. No, I do not have a TBT.

Don't get me wrong, I like your videos... This was just one that could have been done better. Just my opinion sir.

  • Trust me that was not my intention.

  • I totally agree he does not use the T1 nearly as hard as his own knife and I own 2 T1s and I can hit harder than that with it and it my experience it performs butter than he has made it out to.

  • @TheWoollyMammoth

I admit that it is more than likely my technique with the TBT. In the beginning I do chop with the same force. After you can clearly see that I am looking for the point of contact and therefore chopping with a slower strike. I do not own this knife and would have liked to have had longer with it. Initially I really liked the look of it but the front curve is too steep to be a decent chopper.

  • Your knife is quite interesting. Was it patterned after the Martindale No. 4-01?

  • i bet if you were to strike as hard with the

T1 as you did with your knife, it would work just fine...

  • with the chopping blade on the tom brown, you need to bring your wrist into play so it bites the wood.

  • I did say in the video that it may be my technique when using the TBT. Thanks for the tip.

  • i know i was shown how to chop a long time ago by a man from nepal with a khukrie and he said just before the blade hits the wood flick the wrist,so it bites deep, good vids

  • I like your eagle feather.

  • I think the feather you are refering to comes from an Eagle Owl.
