Meyer lemons aren't true lemons, they are hybrids that formed when a lemon crossed with a tangerine. The result was a beautiful fruit that tastes like a lemon but is much sweeter. They were originally grown as decorative house plants and will produce fruit year round. The peel is pretty thin and it is edible. Try it cut into strips and added to lemon cookies. It is a little sour but in a very pleasant way.
They are awesome! I have enjoyed them from a friend whose father planted a tree back in 1956! The best lemon marengue pie ever!! Thank you papa smurf @ div.7
meyer lemons have a slight orange color to them since they are not a true lemon like the eureka & lisbon lemons are. Meyers are a hybrid cross of lemon & mandarin & that is why they are sweeter & are a darker yellow/orange. I love them all but when I talk about lemons I am referring to the true lemons like eurekas & lisbons, not crosses like meyers (lemonXmandarin) or ponderosa (lemonXcitron).
This Lemon, may not be a meyer lemon, looks to me to be a Palastine sweet lime, here is the discription from a seed vendor:
"Palestine Sweet Lime - Orange sized citrus fruit related to the common lime (sometimes classified as the same species), but having a juicy, sweet flavor". - it is yellow also.
Lemon trees also cross, so the person that planted the seeds from a Meyer lemon, not necessarily get a true meyer lemon. looks like a nice fruit!
Actually it probably is a Meyer Lemon, I didnt know they grew that big, but I found another Video on this Lemon: /watch?v=pDIoK0O4uVU Thats cool because I just ordered some seeds for this Lemon, out on the Island Im on, they only have Limes here. looking forward to someday making real lemonade.

That looks way too big to be a Meyer Lemon. They are normally the size of regular lemons but have a thinner skin and are somewhat more orange.
