Heartbreaking video objectively shows ongoing cruelty by illegal fishing on magnificent marine life. I've seen embedded hooks, lines, permanent wounds in sea turtles, barracudas, wahoos, white-tip sharks, dolphins, eels, rays, corals, and others. Sadly, many drown in panic struggle to get free. Yet, illegal fishing continues undetected and undeterred in Cocos National Parks.
Thanks to Imaging Foundation for raising awareness and truth. Is there a way to help enforce laws at Cocos?
Exactly! This is happening all over the world. We are actually seeing more damage in areas where divers do not visit, because there isn't anyone to report activity and law infractions. We are doing something by creating videos that stand witness to the truth and then making these videos available to the public as well as lawmakers and environmental groups. We are dedicating our lives to turning the tide on ocean devastation.
Thank you for this video. Unfortunately we're seeing this all over the world. Where there is great diving, there is also illegal fishing and it seems as though little is being done to stop it.
