Most of the accidents on this vid seem intended as they are flying over water. Which most paraglider pilots dont do. Unless they are trying or learning aerobatic maneuvers. If you get the right training by a good instructor and you fly when the conditions are right the chance of anything happening when you need a reserve parachute are pretty slim.

The reason that they are all over water is that these pilots are either into acro (like me) and competitions are usually done over water for safety. Or they are practicing moves on an SIV course (Simulated Incidents en Vol} its a French term generally used to describe practicing maneuvers that seldom occure naturally to prepare yourseld for those rare occasions that you have some bad air or make a mistake.

In first situation reserve was not needed. Wing went back to normal but a pilot deployed a reserve to early. Better that than too late.

Do you have spring loaded reserves? When I jumped in the Army we had spring loaded reserves; just pull the handle and it pops out. Very cool though I think I want to try the powered version.

No spring loaded reserves on a paraglider. That's for parachutes. Paragliders have a single bridal to the deployment bag you grab the bag and toss it out into clean air, it has a pilot chute attached/integrated with the freebad and it pops off when line stretch is reached. All those deployments are physically thrown.

I have not heard of their use with paragliders and so I am not familiar with their use. I know there are deployment systems for small fixed wing aircraft like this, but again I am not familiar with them. I'm also a skydiver and I spoke with a military HALO jumper once who mentioned a system like this, but he was light on details sports jumpers do not use equipment like this.
