Have u lied? Have u stolen? Jesus said if you look at a women with lust u have committed adultery with her in your heart.
If God judge’s u by the Ten Commandments will u be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? my first slow dance, the first time I felt the heat of my body and hers as one...first romances that had no end in sight....... a truly splendid song. Mathis is one of a kind.
well im 16 years old and i like this music. i like the music from now these days to but these songs have something special :) and is sometin else then r&b and hip hop love this songs :D
This is my 2nd favorite Johnny Mathis song next to Chances Are! It is just beautiful! What an incredible voice! I've seen him in concert twice and he always gives a terrific performance! He looks like a million bucks in person! So worth the money to see him in person! A real treasure! ♥
Believe it or not,i was at the tender age of 3 going on 4 years old when i heard this song on the radio and absolutely was taking by it. The piano in this song and Johnny Mathis was the comforter i needed at my time of loneliness. Thank you for posting this unforgettable song.
I gotta say, Mathis knocks it outta the park, but that whole middle "and pray that love will last" part is terrible. The composer should be beaten with a broom handle. They really couldn't come up with a better, more catchy melody for that whole part? It sounds like Mathis barely knows what note to sing, and the backing chords sound almost wrong -- that's not a knock on Mathis or the band, it's an indication of what a badly written section it is. That's bugged me since I was a kid.
that word "last" rhymes with "fast" in 'hold you fast'! I guess you are right that these two words are not fit or rather awkward for this kind of romantic music and lyrics composition! I don't find anything wrong with the backing accompaniment, I think its perfect!
A consummate singer with a terrific voice, sensuous phrasing and superb diction! What a joy to listen to. So many wonderful memories associated with Johnny!
this reminds me of driving home from canobie lake at 10:00 at night, and the old cartoon things they have there. "chances are" reminds me of canobie, too
You know they said this musics not for us but thats one of them things you just got to trust but if you dont trust them then you wont believe that, ever scince a kid all i heard was feedback like wawawawa mike is a wigger but i aint tryin to be black please dont believe that its enough trouble bein white dog thats a deep fact. uh huh, yup yup you know it, youre still white even if you are a poet. Rascism thats the name of the game, and you couldnt escape that if you was David Blaine.
@2009Denisem I am serious what? what's the matter I'm sorry the heart goes cold sometimes and needs to be reprogrammed I'm sorry i didn't mean to bad mouth this song I'm sorry i ment no disrespect gee! sorry again to anyone my bad!
Johnny Mathis is truly a great romantic singer. The tempo of the song is slow but very soothing and pleasant.
It has already caused MrFeinstein proposing to Janus604 and the latter had acknowleged acceptance. Strange but love comes in many forms and ways, bless them.
My favourite JMathis's songs are A Certain Smile, Chances Are, Misty, The Twelve of Never and It's not for me to say.
i grew up listening to songs like this and am proud to say this is where i trained actually learning a style etc. just so pretty thank you for putting this out. you are good people.
Reminds of innocent summers almost ages ago aglow with amber lanterns. Slow dancing in the open air near the lake. The lingering scent of "Sea and Ski" sunburn preventive.
Now, much time has passed for me and gravity has subjected me to its cruel depravity.
I remember well those times of innocents with much more than nostalgia but with a genuine sense of loss.
As long as we're getting all mushy and nostalgic, let me just say I wish I could go and visit that time with you. I'm not very old, but I know life can be hard, and love as well. Just like Pablo Neruda said, "Love is so short, forgetting is so long." Its the memories we hold on to, when the people and things we love go away. Great song, anyway
Music today is deplorable compared to so much that was turned out from the twenties through the sixties, when popular music's creativity began to fade to its current dormancy. Civilized manners and well-rounded education have faded over the same period, a process commonly reinforced by disgust for those who notice and mention the decline. Oh, to regain the age of Mathis, Cole, and the assumption that everyone could aspire without embarrassment to be mannered and educated!
your "civilized manners" and "well-rounded education" are BS. I did a search in Google on your name and i see all the hateful comments u have made on youtube. Racist and anti-Islamic comments. It's just as i suspected. Also, u said u are some kind of lunatic living in a forest.. But anyway, folks, don't let him take away from the beauty of this music.
No, you haven't found any hateful comments of mine. If anything there sounds hateful, it is a quotation meant to show Islamic hate. But anti-Islam? Absolutely! If you can back up your "racist" accusation, I'd love to see it. Islam, though, is surely part of the decline I'm concerned about. To love everybody is to have no standards. Some would rather pull civilization into the sewer. You, for instance, would rather lie using terms like "lunatic." That, TOO, is a drag on civilization.
i bought this as a 45 or so i thought--it's got chances are and 12th of never--and the company i bought it from said im the 1st person who told them of the mislabeling--here's a fun fact-the first ever greatest hits lp--johnny mathis
you say what i think. my favorite song of johnny's and of this ilk. i may like darondo and other great funk, classical and jazz. but this song done by johnny is so beautiful and incomparable. your comment is mine. heard first when i was 14. i am now almost 63.
Quiero estar en esas plantas y en la canción, con una amaca mirando como el cielo cambia de color dia tarde y noche sin ver a nadie ni a mi familia ni a mi entorno ni a ti y morir, morir , en paz
I clearly remember my Dad bringing home the original Columbia 45 RPM record, with "Warm And Tender" on the flip side - I still have it, along with the original Columbia 78 RPM. 52 years later and I never get tired of hearing this song.
Next to Neil Diamond, he is my fav male recording artist! Love, Love, LOVE this song and remember as a little kid, when just my Mom and myself, and cleaning about the house, she would play the oldies, and even then as little as I was, fell in love with this song and Johnny. Seen him in SA in 2008, and was awesome!
